I have an image that I want to print, but the text therein is all rippled and chunky and horror B-movie style. (This isn't a wave filter I've put on and been unable to reverse or anything like that, it's just unfortunate.)
So, what the quickest way I could go about tightening up the text so that it looks undistorted? I'm there's a faster method than using paths for it..

Just started to explore gimp. Have an application for distortion effects, but need to know the following. If I create a square (jpeg) that is exactly 50% black and 50% white and then distort the image using, for example 'i warp' or 'whirl & pinch', will the colour proportions of the resultant image still be exactly 50/50?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition.
I have just bough a Toshiba Satellite P100 which has a 17" screen. I have put a photo of my daughter on the Desktop but because of the width of the screen it is distorted sideays (widened).
How can I use Photoshop to cancel the datortion by compressing it?
I have been working on this for hours and have watched a ton of tutorials but I'm still not getting the effect I want with my image.
Is it possible to clean up all "sketch" lines in this image, leave just the skull (with teeth) with smooth and dark lines. I want to turn this into a logo.
I can make this image black and white then quickly get rid of the red. I'm just looking to get rid of the gray sketch marks and make it all one solid black outline while keeping the lines the thickness they should be as to not alter the picture.
I'm using 2.8.6
I'd like to make the attached line about twice as thick. I have searched for hours how to accomplish this to no avail.
I use it to measure angles of micrographs (images taken with a microscope) --- the angle measure tool is great, and easy to use! I would like to be able to save the angle measure "rulers" into the image, for documentation purposes. Is there a way to incorporate the angle "ruler" in a layer or overlay in the image so that I can save a new file with the ruler "burned in" (for lack of a better term).
I will also be adding the text of the resulting angle measurement --- it would be cool if the result of the angle measure could be automatically added as text to the image (preferably in a different layer than the original image). I can type it the result with the text tool.
So I am creating this website, and my customer wants a header banner similar to this:
(I don't know if it's clear enough, but there are multiple lines going through the image, with different gradient colors and so on)
Now I can't use this image, since it belongs to another website, but I want to make my own. So, I have no clue about how to make these lines in GIMP. I know GIMP's interface very well (been cropping, coloring for years), but not advanced features like this.
And it's not only the lines, but also the shadowing/coloring in between the lines that I seriously have no clue about how to make.
What is the tool called used for making this? Is there a video tutorial on how to make something similar?
I have a 16:9 video and when I select "save as still image", the resultant image is squeezed into 4:3 and doesnt look good. I cant see anything in preferences that allows me to adjust this. Can I tweak "save as still image" so it keeps the correct aspect ratio?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just edited my my top 15 pics of a shoot i just did. I saved them in the RAW format. I didnt save the origional NEF, because i didnt want to not have the origional .NEF i took. It also saved a .XMP of the file. Ok, so saving goes fine, but when I open it again... it asks me about size, and some other things... I have no idea why its asking these things... I put in some numbers close to the picture size... and it opens grayscale, and totally distorted....most of them are just many lines...
View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically, I am trying to process a simple drawn map that was scanned and saved as a PDF. The scanned image is old so the paper is yellowed and they scanned it in high res color even though the image is black and white (well, blue ink actually). I just want to make the background white and change the blue/black lines to solid black lines that retain their clarity.
Here is a portion of the image:
The left is the original and the right is what I WANT, but cannot, achieve.
My biggest issue has been pixelation of the lines. I just can't get it smooth like in the right image. I've tried all sorts of filters - blurs, smooths, sharpens etc.. Part of the problem is also the degradation of the image after I extract it from the PDF.
exported transparent png fiiles get this rainbow of color distorted bleed when previewing or importing into programs that cannot read the png's transparency!!! even program that can read the png's transparency after you check a 'make transparent' checkbox (such as Memorex Expressit label design studio) have this distorted color bleed!! like in the label program checking 'make transparent' leaves the rainbow color distortion in!!!
this seems to be ONLY happening with Gimp exported PNGs!!! other PNGs and other programs that can generate transparent PNGs don't have this issue!

I have a problem with exporting bitmaps (for icons)., The resulting image is totally distorted compared to the original document. I define document size to 16x16 pixels with a 72 dpi resolution. I would like to have the exported bmp image to be an exact copy of the illustration, thus having unchecked the anti aliasing function and every object is designed to match the pixel size. The same happens if I try to convert the graphic to a bitmap, see screenshots below. I have attached the original cdr file.
Scaling - for some reason the image get distorted after scaling. see example:
Each time I scale it'll do it differently. this time it made the right side thicker.
Alignment - the bounding box has offset and when aligning it doesn't align the objects right:
The image i took was one of my desktop accessories from about one ft. away and at 24mm wide angle. in the image"s four corners is the black edges of the lens.(raw one) Also the front edge of the desk is curved inwards and i have some bowing of the desktop accessories. how can this be corrected? I am sending two images one jpeg and the other the raw image. The second one is the RAW one. What else can be corrected in the raw image.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an EPS file that I am placing in Indesign doc. The image looks great in Illustrator, but in InDesign once placed there is a wave pattern to the colours (like an old tv) – not a smooth gradient. Is this a color profile problem? Or issues with how to maintain a vector image quality when importing into indesign? Upon export to PDF, again the EPS file exports fine, but InDesign export the colors aren't smooth (see sample images). The color is formatted for print (Fogra 39) for both.
changing the working space to setting for print in InDesign. Under “placed content” should keep existing assignments, enable all profiles, disable all profiles be selected?
Debian updated GIMP this morning (2.8.2) and I notice that after cropping an image, the crop lines remain on the picture. Is this a bug or a "feature" ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with a project with Corel VideoStudio pro x2 that involves on-screen graphics on the videos. I use a transparent .png file that I put in the Overlay Track #1.
Original file:
Whenever I edit the video or the image, I get distortion around Music Television area. Somehow it looks like the writing Music Television wants to move / increase in size. When I play the project in the preview window, it looks okay.
After saving to a DVD file like MPEG2 file 720/560 it looks like this:
I used the same project on my laptop which has a better graphic card, Corel VideoStudio pro x4 and I get the same results. The image is so pixelated and curvy. I used a different video editing software though, the image looks much smoother:
When I scan my photos they are not always straight. I use Image-RotateCanvas-arbitrary command to change the percentage of rotation to straighten image.
I automated the process in "actions" menu to rotate canvas 0.5%CW and 0.5%CCW.
I decided to play a little bit with newly made "action" hotkeys to get used to them.
Now the problem
When I rotated the image 5 times CCW and 5 time CW I noticed that it became significantly distorted, blurred. I tried manually do the same (without automation) same result. With every additional step of rotating, image becomes more distorted, so it is not faulty automation...
Question:
Is it normal?
P.S. I scan images at 24 bit color, 150 resolution.
I've been transferring a lot of old vidoes from analog tape to digital video. All video files have been created as H.264 640x480 mp4 with Elgato Video Capture. And all video-files display fine in, VLC, Media Player Classic, Quicktime and even iMovie. Some of these import fine into Premiere CS5.5 without problem, but some end up looking green, distorted and doubled, like this:
I've tried to Interpret Footage on the broken clips, setting the framerate to a constant like 25fps. But this seems to have no effect. When I try to import the same file into After Effects CS5.5, I get this error: after effects error: overflow converting ratio denominators 17::18..I've crosschecked two video files against each other to find some differences, but there is none, as far as I can see.
For some reason, GIMP is putting straight lines off of any line I draw (paintbrush, ink or pencil) and while it's pretty cool, I'd like to be able to draw properly.
View 8 Replies View RelatedTotal buffoon when it comes to getting GIMP to do what I want to do. I'm just practicing with making maps, black lines on a white background, and I've run into some issues I'm wondering if I can get rectified.
1) For whatever reason, the line weight of everything has shifted throughout the file, ending with some lines lighter and grayer than others. Is there a way I can get GIMP to trace all the lines in a uniform black, with uniform thickness?
2) I have tried locking the white background, but often when I select and move my black lines, if I don't click in just the right spot it moves the white background instead, which is really, reeeaaaly aggravating. How Do I get that background to be completely untouchable?
3) In trying to colour the image, I've run into problems with their being a white outline between the colour and the black lines. I think I need to sharpen the image or somesuch? How can one correct this issue?
4) Is there anyway to convert the black dotted lines of the paths tools into straight black lines, in regards to an older file? If not, is there an easy way to trace them?
5) I find the scale too tends to make my image too jagged. I want to take a section of my map, move it too another file and enlarge it to do detail work - what's the best way to do this in order to have a clear image?
6) Any way to translate an image from a MErcator Projection ot a Winkell-Trippel projection, one that works on a Mac?
- when I use swatches to give it a color I happens from time to time, I am tired of this

regularly, when i produce a file contains some outlined elements as PDF, these elements are not appropriately look fine, in case of circle shape, its border doesn't have a smooth circled path (it rather looks like shattered or broken lines), unless when zooming in for 3 times, it actually depends on the file depth, however, Illustrator doesn't have this problem, and people ask me why? so what went wrong?.
I've attached an example (Graphic1.pdf) to have a look at the problem closer and in case you didn't get my problem!
I'm extracting an image in PS 5.5 using the pen tool. I've got all the anchor points down, but I don't know how to now select my outlined area. If I try to fill in the background of the mask with black, the entire mask becomes filled in.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was experimenting with applying filters to text. I managed to make the background black and the text converted to a white outline. I believe I did it using artistic/watercolor. I made a series of five images using this process and now I can't recreate the effect. I definitely did not use strokes or any of the other common ways of creating outline text: It was really quite accidental and done entirely with filters.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI created this simple graphic with a mix of the straight line tool and the shape tool. Any color I drag on to any panel of this hat only changes the background color. I've made sure that all these lines have snapped to the appropriate edges and have tried many combinations of joining shapes and converting to shapes, etc...
I have noticed the vectors don't seem to work the same so I'm not sure this is even possible.
See sample drawing. My dilemma is the outlined dimensions and labels. Normally they come out solid.
Current Conditions: there 3D objects in the drawing, I have dimensioned in model space, and I have set the VP Shade Plot to "Legacy Hidden".
Ideas on making the dimension ticks, arrows and font solid again?
