I'm trying to export an animation created in photohop, its frame by frame, no background. I've been exporting it as an image sequence, now I"ve coloured it I need to solve this transparency issue.Is there a way to export it to use in after effects on top of a background layer.
So I just want to see the character, no background, animation on top of my background layer in after effects.
I have a flash animation, just shapes and tweening. I was wondering if there's a way to convert it to After Effects but keeping it editable (i.e. getting AE shapes and keyframes).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to synch several biped characters to an HD background video I have placed in the environment slot. The problem is that when I scrub the animation slider or hit the play button, Max cannot play the background video in real time. When I hit play, the video remains frozen on whatever frame it was last on, but then updates to the correct frame when I hit the stop button.
It is pretty difficult to get the timing right on the foreground biped animation without a real time background reference. I also tried a lower res version of the background video (standard 720 x 480 DV), but that also does not play in real time. Is there any way to get max to play the background video in sync i.e., updating the frames in real time? Is there a way to improve max performance (ideal settings?)for a background video? Would a Tiff sequence play quicker than a .mpg or .mov files? If so how do set up an .ifl for playing an image sequence?
I am working on an animation project and wanted to render the second I had completed just to see what it looked like so I went to File -- Export -- Render Video... but when I open the Quicktime file to view it, it just plays as one single frame for about 17 seconds. Why is this happening? Why won't it just export the frames as one second of animation?

How do I import 3D models into a 3D layer in After Effects? Previously this was done by exporting the model to Photoshop Extended where you could save the file as a 3D layer PSD file and import this 3D information into AE. But with CS6 this functionality seems to have been removed from what I read in the documents. So how is it done now?

I have a simple Cinema 4D 3D animation created with C4D R14. I successfully brought it into AE CC via Cineware.However, it is not clear how to make it play in AE. It plays well in C4D. But, I can't get it to play in AE.
I am trying to export a video of a simple animation but I can't select Quicktime export I can only do image sequence, how do I activate the Qick time export button to get other options? Clicking on it doesn't work. My Doc size is 500 x500 Just a heart progressing across the screen and bouncing on ground.

for this pic, the original was actually a very greyish and monotonous sky, but i added abit of "sunset" to it. another thing i'd like to change is to remove the building and the trees behind us. i'd like to fill it with the "sky".. but i tried using clone stamp / fill gradient / patch tool and it all looks fake.
another thing is i'm using samsung 2032MW, and have tried "Easy Monitor Calibration", but it was really difficult to get the right one. i ended up with a blue overcast on my monitor instead. any other software i can try to get color accuracy?
I'm working on a time-lapse project where I have taken 240 shots of a highway heading into my city, and have erased the cars from the shot, creating the look of an "empty city". This will be one of many sequences like this.
I got the highway background plate perfect, no cars, and I threw that into my AE comp (CS6), along with the 240 images as a JPEG sequence. I've layered the background plate on top of the image sequence and used a mask to "hide" the cars from the highway. The problem is, some of the cars are taller than the roadway (trucks, busses, etc), so they push into the upper part of the frame where the motion is supposed to happen. If I extend the mask upward, you can see a literal bisection between the still plate and the animated JPEGs. If I just move the mask path to hide cars as they go by, the moving mask becomes VERY obvious in the exported QuickTime.
Text animation presets do not load in After Effects CC (or Adobe Bridge when browsing presets). They don't show up in Effects & Presets panel. I believe they used to show up but no longer. They are in the presets folder so I'm not sure why they won't load in either program.

There are some keys that has one frame gap just like pictures below.
But when i export into FBX and open again with 3DSMAX the keys become separated, and gaps between keys 10663 and 10664 become wider.
Is there anyway to makes key frame still at the right place when its exported to fbx?
I have 2 layers, a background image and a round button with a shadow effect.
How can I only export the button, including his shadow, to png ?
I used Photo Impact, and in Photo Impact, I clicked on the layer, I selected "Export object" and the layer (object) was saved to a desired filename (in my case, I want png or tga, with transparency) .
Also, if I have a background layer, a button layer and a text over the button. If I select the button and the text, how can I export them to png (merge them and export them) directly ? Exactly like the case above, but with multiple players.
I have worked on After Effects and recently started doing my Motion Graphics work in MAYA. I made some models using the Polygonal Mesh primitive objects for logos etc etc.
I was wondering if I can animate the growth of an object as though it is being formed formed in 3D space. I tried doing this by taking it in AE but it becomes a Flat image and I loose the z dimension, thus I can only move the mask in X & Y axis.
If there are any tools to animate or any Keywords that I can explore to make this job feasible. I do not want to pull down the transparency and animate it as then it makes the entire object disappear or visible at the same time.
I'm struggling to create an effect to a layer shape like the one from below. I feel that it is possible using repeater instead of bunch of layer shapes, but I'm not able to control each copy "individually", to get that wave.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just started to use AE again (CC version) and I'm trying to make a simple 3D text animation and it seems like it's taking an excessively long time to render. I have a 4 year old MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB) and it's taking several hours to render and export a 5-second clip through Media Encoder. The animation is just text on a black background. I'm using the ME YouTube 480P preset. The original file is 1920x1080 because I am going to have to chroma key it over some existing 1080p video. I did a little 3D work years ago and this seems like an awfully long time for such a short, simple animation. Is there some simple, common mistake I'm probably making? Should I scale the comp down to 480p?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a mobile app overview and I want to add a little "tapping" animation a whole bunch of times for parts where a button is tapped and so forth. I made an animation of a circle scaling quickly to show the tapping.
The only way I can think of doing this is painstakingly mapping out its position keyframes for the different times in the timeline along with setting hundreds of keyframes for the scale. Is there a way I can just animate it once and then just insert it on various parts of the timeline?
can you create a javascript file to use in your website from an animation you made in after effects? or do you have to export as a swf file and open it adobe flash and then create the javascript for it. or do you just simply embed the swf by creating a flash website?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Mountain Lion form SL. Suddenly AE can't import lot of .movs.I am almost sure this is a compatibility between the Quicktime components nor the location of them.
For instance, some H264 files are imported fine, as Mp4 files as well. Pro Res, PNG, even Animation! Gives me the "this Moov is unsuported or damaged"I removed the AE pref., chequed my disk permissions, and nothing. Also, i can't see Adobe QT32 Server in the Activity Monitor, but i think this is not a problem because other quicktime files are imported ok.I don't have any firewall trying to break the communication between AE and QT. I tried to opend the files in Premiere, and Media Encode and gives the same errors..I have removed Xvid, Perian. From Quicktime Pro, i have removed all third party component in Libray/Quicktime and in System/Library/quicktime and nothing. Also I'm lost WHERE the final qt components go:
1-HD/Library/Quicktime
2-HD/Users/User/Library/Quicktime
3-HD/System/Library/Quicktime (empty, i don't know why)
The QT codecs: Quicktime pro opens certain files and when i tried to export, it crashes. Quicktime X Plays the files normally, even Prores and even the Finder Preview sees them.this is the QT report:

I've been using Illustrator to draw up some 2D cartoons and then learning how to animate them and incorporate them into music videos. Small stuff like cute flying birds, suns, flowers, small characters, etc.
I have tons of Q's so maybe it's best to ask this question first ... are their good tutorials online regarding this subject (creating, drawing, animating cartoons to use as stand alone cartoons and also to embed over live footage)? I'm aware of Lynda.com but wasn't sure if they have this sort of tutorial.
If I've illustrated and animated a character (flower, or bird, or cartoon person dancing) ... what's the best way to incorporate that into my live clip? Let's say i have a girl singing and want the bird to fly across the screen, or onto her shoulder. Would I do this in After Effects? Or would I export from After Effects and then do the overlaying in Final Cut Pro (which I'm using to edit my videos)?
I exported a 10 second cartoon I made of flowers lip syncing to the audio track that I'm doing the video for and when I rendered, the background was white. I wasn't sure how to composite that onto my FCP video and so here I am....
I've made an animation in photoshop CS 5.1 with three layers that I want to export to Apple's application Motion in order to work on each layer individually. I can easily make a quicktime file, but I can't work on each layer this way. When I import the photoshop file I get the prompt "All Layers," which I choose, but there is no movement when I hit play on the timeline. Only one frame is displayed when there are a number of different frames, and animations.
I'm using an IMac with 8 gigs of ram and 3 external hard drives with a terabyte internal drive.
I have 5 layers with white artwork and a black filled layer but make animation sees also the black background end up flashing on and off. Can one have a frame to stay under the animation and stay on at all times ?
Obviously if this was in Flash it would sit on a lower layer and exist for the entire duration of the animation, but I am hoping to avoid keep having to take artwork as png into p shop , create movie clip, etc etc then back to Photoshop to adjust artwork.
I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended (ver 13.0). I can apply the Vanishing Point filter to a jpeg still and set/apply the planes but the Export For After Effects (.vpe) command in the drop-down menu within the VP window is greyed out. I understood this filter is a feature of the Extended version. why this is disabled?

I see it nowhere in the render queue or even Adobe Media Encoder. I'm on a mac but I need to make .AVIs for use in a PPT on a PC for our salesforce who are on PCs.
If one can't do this from AE or AME, i could use a lead for a 3rd party app that can make them. I may have read that Microsoft provides a free .AVI maker. Not sure if that's true.
I've got an animated model in 3Ds MAX which is done by applying Taper modifier. I'm trying to export this to FBX format including animation and then import it to another application called fragMOTION which only supports Skeleton animation and Vertex animation.
But the problem is fragMOTION does not show any animation frames while if I turn off the modifier and do a simple translation or rotation animation it is imported as it's supposed to be.
I also tried to Bake animation or Point Cache but no success. I can bake the animation into keyframes by using Cloth modifier so the result would be an animated Editable Mesh (keyframes) without any modifier in stack.
Should I take any additional step to convert the animation into Skeleton or Vertex animation?

I'm in the process of prepping individual components of a design for Flash animation. I'm trying to apply a layer of #7C6844 with the color effect at 56% opacity and a layer of #999999 with the color burn effect at 12% opacity to the foreground image which has a transparent background. This task has proved to be rather impossible for me, but it seems like there should be a way to do it. I would use the wand tool > select inverse and apply the colors over top that way, but the foreground image has a lot of leaves and branches, so that method would be extremely tedious.
Is there a way I can select the entire image as a whole and leave out the background?
I'll attach the image and the desired result to further assist.
