i'd like to change the color of the water to bluish-looking ones, but after i tried using overlay.. it doesn't look natural at all, and does not match with the environment as well. any idea how to go about making this picture look better?
for this pic, the original was actually a very greyish and monotonous sky, but i added abit of "sunset" to it. another thing i'd like to change is to remove the building and the trees behind us. i'd like to fill it with the "sky".. but i tried using clone stamp / fill gradient / patch tool and it all looks fake.
another thing is i'm using samsung 2032MW, and have tried "Easy Monitor Calibration", but it was really difficult to get the right one. i ended up with a blue overcast on my monitor instead. any other software i can try to get color accuracy?
I just upgraded to After Effects CS6 on a MAC OS X 10.6.8..My probelm is that for certain effects, the RAM preview is not clearing after I make a change. In particular, with "Particle Playground" I have the layer map as another composition. When I make a change to the layer image in its composition, the particle playground composition does not reflect the change and just stays the same.
If I then make another parameter change, the new layer will be there, but if I undo that change it goes back to the old layer map. If I reneder it out to a file it is fine and reflects all changes. However, the preview RAM system seems to be very buggy and very hard to clear out old RAM previews so that changes are reflected in the new preview.
The same thiings happens if I use an expression in particle playground. I change the expression and the preview does not change. Purging doesn't even work.
I would like to ask how can I create white foam in a water simulation like the photos bellow....Of course this has been done in a 3D software and specifically in Maya. I want to ask if something similar can be done entirely in After effects (in a smaller scale).
Using Red Giant Psunami for creating the water simulation is OK. But psunami doesn't support foam so it is not that realistic. Some plugins combination maby that can provide the foam effect?
I want to make a fountain that has water jets that cause ripples when they hit the water. I have tried the basic reactor water and Pflow setup, as well as super spray, but neither seem to work. Is there any way to accomplish this without "faking" it by doing something creative with the water's texture?
i'm trying to clear up a photo. Basically, my friend took a photo (not scanned, but an actual photo) of a story he wrote in the form of printed text pasted onto a sheet of paper. Well, we need to know what it says pretty much word by word, and he doesn't have the file he printed it from or the paper anymore. The photo isn't the best quality ever, and while some of the text is readable, a lot of the text is barely so or not at all. I've already tried everything I could think of as far as contrast, saturation, brightness, and adjustment layers go.
I'm trying to export an animation created in photohop, its frame by frame, no background. I've been exporting it as an image sequence, now I"ve coloured it I need to solve this transparency issue.Is there a way to export it to use in after effects on top of a background layer.
So I just want to see the character, no background, animation on top of my background layer in after effects.
Is there a way to prevent the render window from clearing to black before rendering a new frame when using the scanline renderer? Several versions ago Max used to leave the old image up while updating and its easier for me in some cases to see changes when the previous frame is still there and updates as the scanline renders down the frame.
I worked this out with C3D back in the day but for some reason I can't figure out how to renumber line tag label designations. What's making it tougher is that I need to create the tags in a block and try to create the line table OUTSIDE the block (this is so that I can have the block rotated to a deed bearing with dynamic labels in the block while retaining it's true orientation from state plane coordinates in model space). I have an old lisp file CLEARTAGS.lsp but this is not working. Perhaps this was made for 2010 or earlier. When I save the block, it jumps all the tag numbering way up for some reason.

If I want to clear all History and adjustments, I know I can "Clear All" on the History but how do I clear the "Adjustments" so the little icon on the filmstrip thumbnail image (+/-) "this image has adjustments" goes away, too?
After clicking on a keyword in the Keyword List to filter my results, how do you remove that filter to go back to where it was before? I can click on another keyword or I can choose Previous Import under Catalog, though is there another way to remove the most recent keyword filter? A keyboard shortcut?
I'm in the process of prepping individual components of a design for Flash animation. I'm trying to apply a layer of #7C6844 with the color effect at 56% opacity and a layer of #999999 with the color burn effect at 12% opacity to the foreground image which has a transparent background. This task has proved to be rather impossible for me, but it seems like there should be a way to do it. I would use the wand tool > select inverse and apply the colors over top that way, but the foreground image has a lot of leaves and branches, so that method would be extremely tedious.
Is there a way I can select the entire image as a whole and leave out the background?

When I use the Object Removal Tool and after removing the last object I can't cancel or clear the command. The dotted selection box around the object selected remains on the screen. "Esc" doesn't do anything. After doing a crop I can right click on the screen and a dialogue box opens up allowing me to clear the screen of the grid, but that doesn't seem to work with the Object Removal Tool. I think I've read everything I can find, but I'm not seeing the answer. I watched a video on the command, but it didn't show how the command was canceled.
I cannot remember, if I can save a shape layer as a background preset? I have a my preset folder. I created to save multi effects as a preset. I want to save a shape layer with a gradient on it, as a background layer. Albeit a simple 'to create' I want to know how and if I can save it as a preset. To import as I see fit.
I have created a moving background and I am rendering it in PHOTO JPEG format but when I convert it to .GIF to post it on my website, it takes away all the high quality. It is a moving background, what is the best format to render it in to post it as the website's background?
I installed After Effects pretty much without changing anything, so the settings are more or less default. I'm using a Macbook Pro with OS 10.6.8 and After Effects CS6
I have enabled media and disk cache, max disc cache is at 100GB and I have an external drive (with 900GB spare) as the volume selected beneath that option. My internal SSD has not much spare on it. I previously had the internal SSD as the disc cache and still had this same problem.
My project is 1920 x 1080 25fps - And I'm trying to render to Quicktime. I've tried rendering to stills and then outputting to Quicktime (so as to have less computational effort), then running them through but the same problem persists.
If After Effects is the application in focus the project renders fine.
If After Effects is not the application in focus - ie. I work with it rendering in the background, the 'FINISHED' sound plays and the render is cut short a short while after I started working in another program.
The project render time is about an hour, so it's not really convenient.
Is it possible to clear the command line history? Im running a series of commands that output data to the command line, from there I'm copying and pasting off the command line to notepad. Is possible to clear the command line so that I can run these commands again and not get confused by the previous sequence of data?
I have an .idw of an assembly. I originally made a sub assembly invisible in the .iam and create a new base view. The invisible assembly is not there as I would expect. If I turn the visisbility back on in the .iam the part is now visible in the .idw even thogh I have cleared the "Associtave" box. No matter what I do, I can't clear the assembly out of the .idw even if I go back to the .iam and make it invisible again. This used to work in previous releases.
I have three different solid object and all those three have different masks and stroke effects in them.
The problem is, the one at the top always reign and doesnt let other stroke effects on masks to appear. I reckon the problem is the background of the solid object. If this is the problem, how can I change the transparency of the background. If not, what might the problem be ?
I have a hot o someone speaking lines that wasn't shot on a tripod, in front of a green screen. The background is a still picture. I'm trying to get the background to shift whenever the actor does so h matches his environment. The tracker seems to be having trouble because other than the subject, there is nothing in the shot for the trackers to reference. It seems to be tracking him fine but when I apply the tracking data to the background, it flies around wildly when the subject moves his head. I've tried using the older tracker, just using position and scale, and I've tried using the 3D tracker. I feel like this should be fairly simple. Any other information needed I will gladly supply.
When launching a render, the message "background processes initializing / this may take a while" gets stuck more than 70s in CS6, whatever the project, whereas it was never on more than 10s in CS5. We're back to the CS4 delays here.
On a side note, the multiprocessing is a bit weird:
Before it was pretty straightforward : When 10 cores were used for the render, the frames were rendered by batches of 10. With CS6 it's different : A first batch of 3 frames get rendered, then another one of 14 (!!), then I lost track of the process. Is multiprocessing so different in CS6 ?

I have an issue of a ghost image appearing in the composition background. I can't figure out how it got there or how to remove it. It's really annoyong as the image also appears in rendered videos.
This only seems to appear when my composition settings is set at 1024 x 576 px, which I must use for projects. If I increase the composition size by 1 pixel, the image disappears, change it back and it reappears.
note, that there is no files in my project and the image still appears.
Is it possible to render timeline effects in the background on a single machine given the right licenses? I'm finding that CFX in particular take a lot of time to render.
Is there anyway to speed things up? Do multiple graphics cards work? I have a Quadro 4000 and some kind of ATi card installed (in a mac pro) - does it make a difference which one the monitor is plugged into?
