3ds Max Modeling :: Divide Surface In Parallel Lines
Jan 11, 2011Is there a way/plugin that divides some shape in parallel lines?
Something like doing:
slice with slice plane along ex. "X" axis every 20cm
of course my shapes not aligned in any axis. Making working pivot for each shape and then making a hundred slices would be a massacre.
Photoshop :: Divide Layer Into 4 Quarters
May 12, 2012Because I will be doing this often in the near future, I need to create an action to precisely divide a LAYER into 4 quarters, in order to easily create seamless patterns. I'm having trouble figuring out how to automate the placing of guides limited to the center points of the selected layer dimensions, as opposed to the entire image's dimensions. My second difficulty is in selecting the quarters; using the marquee tool, etc, the selection tool is NOT snapping to the guides, despite what I have the Snap To preferences set to.
I need to select the pixels right up to the guide line so that I can select the "Make a new layer via cut" and then move the new layers in position to make a seamless tile. Right now, it is selecting a few pixels off. (Annoying!) So until I can figure out how to address these issues, I can't even begin to record an action.
Even if I can't record a general action, due to the problem of different layers having different dimensions, I'd be happy to discover a shortcut to accurately quartering a layer but why I'm having trouble managing the marquee tool. I'm currently trying out the CS6 Beta but usually work in either CS5 or PSE 9.
Photoshop :: Divide Scanned Images Function
Sep 1, 2013I have scanned three pictures, using a green background, Epson WF-2540, saved to my pictures. I see the jpeg in organized, load in to editor, I can crop, rotate fix, but the divide scanned images function is not highlighted and thus does not work. ?

Feb 25, 2013I scanned a number of photos and when I went into editor>image and the divide scanned photos was not an active choice. It was on the menu but I couldn't select it. I scanned a number of times to include setting the pictures at an angle just to be sure it could be detected. It used to work in PSE 9
I am using an HP office jet Pro 8600 premium. OS is windows 7

For those scans I put black construction paper in the rear, it works like a charm.
However, my mom scanned multiple photos prior to us finding Elements and did not use a dark background.
Is there any way to salvage this or is it too late?
When we attempt to Divide Scanned Photos on a set of B&W photos with a white background, no luck.
PSE11 just spits out a copy of the same photo.

Dec 25, 2013I have tried this feature with mixed results. Scaning 2,3 or 4 pictures of different sizes, changing angles using an HP8600 Multifunction device. I have tried both scannig using HP software and directly with Elements at 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Elemets will sometime split off one of the pics but is not reliably sepatating them all. What ca I do to improve my results? I have a lot of pics to scan and really don't want to do them one at a time.

Nov 21, 2013In CS5, I created a very handy action that allowed me to, with two paths selected, Divide, Ungroup, and Deselect, resulting in the divided paths without having to do each step manually.
In CS6, for some reason this is no longer possible-- if I try to record the same action, after the divide, everything is automatically deselected and I get a "The object "Ungroup" is not currently available" error. Very frustrating that the new version is more troublesome to use!!
I KNOW that it's possible to do this because I was somehow able to fudge it at one point and get this action to work. But I'm not sure what happened-- maybe a step was deleted in my action or something-- but one day it just stopped working. This action is basically THE function I use most in Illustrator given the way I work, and while it's not a huge step, having to manually reclick, ungroup, and deselect is a huge inconvenience.

Feb 24, 2012My work requires me to create programs for our CNC router. It is done in AutoCAD 2008. To making programs faster I've created series of dynamic blocks. I am attaching a file with one of those blocks.
The file is actually illustrating what I need to do number of times a day. I would like to make the process even faster and more fool-proof. The "old way" in file shows what my current way of creating programs. The "new way" is my attempt to make it faster.
My problem is automatically dividing a line in dynamic block into a variable number of segments that are always equal. Naturally I use divide command after I stretch and explode my dynamic block. It would be much faster if the block would be able to do it all by itself.
My attempt of solving this was to use Visibility Parameter. However, if you look closely at it, you'll notice that if I want to do it for all the possible combinations it will be extremely complicated and easy to mess up.
If only there was a way to have two visibility parameters. Then I'd make one for horizontal holes and another for vertical. Unfortunately I can't.
How to accomplish this? LISP, maybe? Unfortunately, I don't know LISP.
