how does one change from the text to the move tool via the keyboard without entering "v" in the text that you were just working on? Even if I move the mouse outside of the text area, pressing "v" on the keyboard adds the "v" character to the text area. Do I need to click on the Move icon on the panel to escape the Text mode?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I have a none vector tool active for example the brush tool and I press and hold the Ctrl key down I see the cursor change from the current tool to the move tool cursor. If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedI started learning Photoshop CS4 about a month ago. One of the first things I learned was to add text. Simple, fun. I am now trying to learn about layer masks. One of the exercises in one of my books is to open an image and then add text to it. (The idea is to then add a mask and 'hide' portions of the text behind portions of the image.) A really strange thing is happening when I try to add text. I highlight the image in the layers column. (Prior to adding any mask layers.) I then click the text tool. But when I click on the image (in the area where I want the text), the text tool 'becomes' a move tool. A text layer pops up and the words I'm trying to type on the image come out in the title area for the layer (in the layers column). I've tried everything I can think of to 'get' the text on the image but can't solve it.Â

I ALREADY KNOW you can use the "[" and "]" to change the size of the spot removal circle. BUT, I'm trying to get LR to work as much like Photoshop as possible 'cause the inconsistencies on small things is a surprisingly large hit to productivity.....

In PS I can change the size of the clone or heal using Alt and the mouse. Change both size AND opacity.

I try to move text in a layer with the move tool. I highlight the text layer, select the move tool, and move the tool to the text. As soon as I click on the layer with my mouse, the highlight moves to an image layer below the text layer. I can move the text using the arrow keys, but that takes forever.

Also, if I have layers inside a folder and try to move one of those layers, the entire folder is selected and all layers within that folder move.
I have not grouped any layers together.

I am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:

When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.

I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.
The text tool will no longer display the box that allows you to change the text size or text color. (At the bottom left of screen) ELEMENTS 11.

This is what I do;

1. Select the text
2. Using the eye dropper tool i click on an object (lets say a square) filled object with a different colour. (no stroke) - Now I expect that the text will change to the squares colour but it does not.

The eye dropper will pick up and change its font/colour if i select other text but not other objects. I have opened the eye dropper preferences and EVERYTHING is ticked in both picks up and applies.

Even if just a single word is typed, and you change the font for just the first character in the word, you then cannot change the word's font, to the font which you used for just the first character.
My tool keyboard shortcuts work for switching from one tool to another, but not for toggling between that catagory of tool (for intstance: using "L" for toggling between lasso, polygonal lasso and magnetic lasson). how to fix this? (I use a Mac OSX, if that's relevant.)

I can't insert certain symbols with the text tool. When I type "&" it inserts a "/" and when I type "/" it inserts a "-". I know for a fact it's not my keyboard because it works in any other text editor or text field. Is this just some new weird setting in photoshop cs6?

I am wondering what would be the keyboard shortcut to change the tolerance percentage up and down? For example, to change brush size bigger you press"[" and for smaller you press, "]". I am looking for the same kind of shortcut, but instead of brush size, I need it for tolerance. I can not get the tool to stick on the new selection unless I use the mouse to manually select the new tool.

Is it possible to scroll through the individual tools in the tool bar using keyboard shortcuts.
I know how to scroll through the subtools using hte shift key but not sure if it is possible to scroll through the entore tool bar.
I have looked through all the menu keyboard shortcuts and of course have found Merge Visible which doesn't useful. I don't see anything in keyboard shortcuts that lets me change Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E to something different. Exactly what is that shortcut called in PS CS5, where do I find it?
