Mar 2, 2011I have a final image of my image to which I want to apply an alpha as a mask of an adjustment layer.
The image and the alpha have come out of 3ds Max. The problem is that there is a halo around the edge of the mask. This is caused due to transparency at the border of the alpha. I don't know how to get around this.
I was told that there may be a way to do it by dividing the alpha. I see that Photoshop CS5 has a divide blend mode. I don't have CS5.

Aug 5, 2011I used to work in Photoshop and GIMP, but then became sidetracked. I've forgotten half of it. I used to make siggies for others all the time, although I really was guessing my way through some of it. I knew I could do better.
Anyway, I figured it'd be wise to start with a really basic question. I'll use the pic below as an example.
In a pic such as this one, how would you go about seamlessly blending the edge of the picture with the background? (All I did so far was have 2 separate layers; the picture of the hottie, and then behind it of course was just the template where I tried to match the pink from the hotty pic).
I'm also curious about just blending 2 or more photographs together to create a collage. I've done this before, but I know I made it harder and more tedious than it had to be. So.... would a collage have to be done a little differently.
I used to go about all this various ways way back when, but like I said... I've forgotten half my little tricks which I know really weren't the correct and easiest route to go about it.

Jan 29, 2013I am creating a shape that looks like a pill a rectangle with two circles on the ends, if you will. But it's all one shape. I want a gradient or blend (what exactly is the differnce?) that has a white middle and dark gray edges. The white goes along the pill horizontally but the dark gray is above and below this white "line" but the rounded edges of the pill shape are the dark gray. I'm using CS6.

May 6, 2004if anyone knows of some Photoship filters that would allow me to add cool edge effects on my pictures.
I am building an online portfolio with landscapes pictures, and I just thought it would look nice to add some edge effects instead of just leaving the pictures as is.
I am looking for something a little arty.
Extensis Photoframe is probably a nice software but it is expensive and the trial version do not allow do work with your pictures.

May 22, 2008I am trying to soften the edge of photos as is popular now. I am running CS3 10.0.1 on Vista. When I select the photo and click 'refine edge' button, I can create the effect I want but when I click 'OK' the effects vanish. Is this a bug (or a feature?)

The same way that static image banners work.The click action set up inside the animation works perfectly in all browsers other than IE 8 and below.In IE 8 and below, the animation is replaced with a frame with the "Poster. png" image with a link; as expected.When the image is clicked, it loads the new page inside the frame where "Poster.png" was located. Not in the enclosing window. I've tried every Link Target that is available as well as some custom JS and JQuery scripts with no resolve.

Oct 1, 2005The image attached has a kind of gloopy effect around the edge of all the text. It's not uniform but is tailored to each curve/angle and it rotates around the edge rather than all pointing in the same direction.
I've tried creating brushes in PS & Illustrator that could follow the curves of the edge but they look neither random or pretty...
I've tried diplacing a halftone line pattern & masking out the bits not needed but it won't curve the same way...
I've tried drawing the paths individually & stroking them with different effects but that just looked plain ugly...

Oct 2, 2008I have "group1" and inside that group, only one layer: "layer1". The blending mode for "group1" is vivid light and for "layer1" it's "normal".
Now, if I change "group1" to "pass through" and "layer1" to "vivid light" ... the result is completely different, while it should be the same, shouldn't it?

Apr 28, 2006Ive tried downloading some brush sets and applying them in PS. The only problem is that the edges of the brushes look blurred when the sizes are increased and are no way as sharp as on the examples attached.
The pixelated blocks of colour and edges of the photos are so sharp they could be bitmapped?
Could these kind of effects be created in an image/border effect program ie something like Extensis Photo Frame?

Dec 5, 2013I've been noticing this behaviour in CC 7.1.
When you place "Sharpen" and some third party plugin (Sapphire, NewBlue, BorisFX, ...) the 1 pixel wide rectangle starts to appear around the frame. Is it a bug?
