Photoshop :: Layer Styles Are Not Reflecting
Feb 11, 2012In the past I have received requests to make a reflection of a text or an image that has a layer style(s) on them (e.g. stroke, outer/inner glow, etc). The problem with this is, when I go in and make a reflection (I use the layer mask method), the styles are not reflected as they are supposed to.

Dec 12, 2008I'm trying to do the mirror layer effect(vertically) so it looks like the image is being reflected on a shiny floor. With images I'm fine but I can't get around using text with color or effects.
when I use text together with effects like "gradient overlay" with ex. rainbow color it doesn't flip the colors, only the text(yellow on the top on both layers) (look at the picture)
It doesn't matter if the layer is text or rasterized...
Can I "attach" layer effects and colors to the copied layer or do something to get around this?

Apr 5, 2013I am using LR4.4. I work in RAW and then export to RAW. Suddenly my exports do not reflect the changes I have made in LR. It is as though LR has stopped working. I have done this a thousand times. I cannot understand why it has stopped working as usual. I can export to jpg and psd and retain changes.

As you can see, the 3D background color reflects slope. Steeper parts are a darker kind of grey than the flat parts.
I would like to create profiles of my own in the same style, with the slope of a portion reflected in its color, so I was wondering if there is a feature in paint.net that allows me to change the color of a line according to its slope. Is it possible to draw a line for the mountains etc. in a single color, and then use some kind of effect or plugin to make the rising sections darker and the flat parts lighter?

Aug 18, 2012I have managed to reflect objects but cannot manage to reflect one object across the Artboard to show up on the opposite side. If you see my image below, I would like to reflect the horizontal stripe at the top of the design and make it appear at the bottom of the Artboard so it finishes the design. Almost all of the work I do requires only one quarter of the design to be created, then I could just reflect it across and then reflect it down so this would be a useful piece of knowledge

Apr 11, 2013When using the gradient mesh tool or paintbrush in Illustrator - the technique is not reflected ACCURATELY on the screen. For example when painting with a red brush - the screen shows a different color. Sometimes a different magnification will resolve the issue other times it will not.
Running MAC OS6 10.7.5 This is currently happening in Illustrator CS6 Illustrator 5.5 is also on the machine too.
Photoshop :: Ellipse Tool In CS6?
May 31, 2013I previously used Photoshop CS3. I do catalog work and we do quantities of paths around circular buttons and pins. CS3 would make a path around the button drawing from the center edge of the image while dragging across the item. CS6 doesn't appear to do this and only wants to draw the circle from a corner point where the top and left edges would meet for example. Can the ellipse tool be set to draw from center edge as CS3 did?

Jul 30, 2005why my ellipse tool doesnt work. I used it the other day ( to draw a cirlce, obviously!). I had set the shape to be a fixed size (675 by 700 pixels) and clicked on the canvas to create the shape. This worked fine but when i went to use it again it wouldnt work. It allows me to select the tool and when i click and drag on the canvas a new layer is created but no image appears. I've tried the obviuos; putting the layer on top of all the others, checking the settings (opacity etc) but nothing seems to work.

Jan 4, 2014I'm trying to make a (for lack of a better term) squarish ellipse.
I've tried a few things but they don't work too well, i.e. plines and lofting a rectangle with an ellipse then cutting it two but they just get me arcs that meet at sharp points.
The jpg below is meant to show what I'm trying to do.
I want to take that one quarter of an ellipse at the intersection and stretch/pull it to the midpoint of the line between the corner of the rectangle and the arc. The ellipse is made out of 4 ellipse arcs. I want to stretch just the arc without moving the ends of it at the quadrants.

May 9, 2013I have an ellipse with equal radii, I changed it into an arc, but I can't make it fit.
In the attached drawing, there are 3 entities.
1. The original ellipse - red
2. Arc that has the same start angle and end angle as the ellipse - grey
3. Arc that fits the original ellipse - green
Now this is strange, because the ellipse seems to have a different CS for the angles. I had more ellipses in the drawing, but some of them don't have this anomaly.

Have read several threads that lead me to believe redrawing them is about the only real way to do it. Posting here in hopes of a solution. Drawing contains 127 ellipses, and I dont want to redraw all of them!!

The only way I've found it to work is to break the elipse and then join up the gap, essentially creating a closed eliptical arc. This gets a result but it seems a very scrappy work-around to something which should simply work.
