I typed the word "Ethos" and wanted to extend the bottom of the 't' to run along the underside of the word. To do this I created a new work path. I then manipulated the 't' to get it to the shape I wanted... what I'm struggling with now is how to apply this change in shape to the text.
At the moment I have my text that says Ethos, and I have my path that says Ethos but with the extended 't'. How do I apply the change in shape to the 't' to the actual text?
Has any body else noticed that if you create a work path, then create a shape layer (say a rectangle) and type some text on the rectangle (text on a path) that if you commit the type and switch to the Path Selection Tool to edit the path text (position of the starting or end points) photoshop cs6 replaces your previous workpath with a workpath of the shape layer you typed on? Â Is photoshop cs6 supposed to work that way? Â Windows 8 x64 and photoshop 13.01 new document a create a workpath create a rectangle shape layer and type on the rectangle shape layer path. The orginal workpath has been replaced by the rectangle shape layer path
Ever since I started to take 2d personalised icons and create them in 3d, Ive only ever known of one method to do it:
1- create a work path in Photoshop or Illustrator 2- save it as a 'path to illustrator' 3- import this in to Maya 4- select the work path then go to surfaces> plane options box. In there, I would usually go for the poly option, with quads and create a count of the maximum faces (1000) 5- hit create and I would get what Maya's best results were and simply, tidy up and remodel the surface accordingly.
Then, a friend of mine said, why dont you use Cinema 4D to do that. He showed me the work flow, and its SO much easier. Not only does the work path import into Cinema 4D, with a perfect outline of the icon BUT you can also create a poly perfectly. With no tidying necessary.
Why cant Maya do that? Or can it, and Ive just not found the best method?
Ive attached an image. The icon to the furthest left is a FBX import(created in Cinema 4D)of a final version of the 3d icon. And the centre work path is an .ai file, created in photoshop and to the right of it, is the poly model with a plane surface on it.
Does the scissor tool NOT work on compound paths? I am guessing it does not being it does not work when I use it on them, but the Adobe help section didn't specify. Â Also, sometimes when I am using the pen tool, I will place an anchor point but it shifts away from where I want to place it. For example, I will put it at x = 72 & y = 1000 and it will place it at x = 95 & y = 1050. Â I thought maybe it was from something I accidentally selected like snap to grid or point, but changing the settings does not correct the issue. I have to close out of the program and restart to fix it.
I have been trying to wrap the text "Victory" around the cigar band using a path and then playing around with the free transform, but nothing looks realistic.
There is probably a simple fix for this, but I can't seem to figure it out. So I created a circular path, and over the top I wrote "Satisfaction" now under the bottom I want it to read "Guaranteed" .... but the text will not hang from the path and read from left to right...it will only write upside down from right to left, or you can flip it so that it's inside the circle reading from left to right...but i want the top of the text to align with the outside of the circular path.
I have a layer with some paths and lines of text. I copied some of the paths and text and tried to paste in another layer or document; the paths are not pasted and all the text becomes a single line. When I copied only the paths, it is pasted correctly. If I copied only the text and tried to paste in another layer or document, all the text becomes a single line.
If I drag the selection from one layer to another using the panel, it works. If I drag the selection from the artboard to another document, it works. But these operations sometimes are not convenient. What I would like is to copy the items, target a layer in another document and paste there. With a large document with dozens of layers and a lot of text the drag and drop solution is not feasible.
I have a few different problems with the pen tool. Â 1. When using the pen tool I keep finding that the shape I'm doing is slightly overlapping where I've already gone with the pen tool.If I try and go over that area again the path I've just drawn then jumps and ruins the shape I was creating. Â How can I stop this from happening? Â 2. Also is there a limit to the amount of paths you can create and add text to? I created two paths and typed on them fine but when I added a third path it refused to type. The cursor didn't change to show I could type and if I did click on the path line and try to type jumped to my other path and typed there. All paths were on different layers and none were overlapping, but it is 3 circles inside each other that get smaller if this makes a difference. Â How can I type on the third path? Â 3. When I have done a path and clicked stroke it is only a thin line. How can I make this line thicker?
I've worked out how to use paths, so I can make text appear along a curve which is great. My problem is that I have a logo and I want text curving around the top of it, and then some text curving around the bottom (curving upwards). There is more text on the top curve so it fills the entire path, but the text at the bottom is shorter and so it doesn't reach the end, it justifies to the left of the path. How do I position it so that it aligned to the centre of the path (it doesn't necessarily have to take up the entire length of the path, I just want it to be central to the logo above it.
I am having a file which has lot of texts. Actually the texts are in outline format as fills, strokes, etc. Is it possible to convert them to an editable text using any option.
Fairly new to gimp, using Mac 2.8 version. Problem is I have created multiple paths of text but none of them export (I have tried jpeg, gif, tif). They save to the gimp format but even when I try to print directly from gimp the text paths do not show up.
I don't know if this is possible at all in Illustrator, but I want to align objects to text paths. Look at the following example. Â I start with something like a circular hierarchy, that I get as an output from another program. These are only lines and text. Now I want to add a flag behind the text. This flag should have the same orientation as the text path. Â As this hierarchy is actually pretty big (this is only a snippet), I don't want to rotate all the flags manually. I tried to do it manually with the below example, but it still doesn't looks right... Â Is this a proper method to rotate the flags according to the orientation of the text paths in Illustrator?
I'm using AI CS6, opened it up today and all the text boxes are behaving like paths. I can only resize them using the direct select tool. I don't know what happened, I've checked type preferences, nothing there seems to be odd. Â I would attach a screenshot, but the "Insert Image" button brings up a white box that tells me the "Operation timed out."Â Not my day for software. Â Basically, once I create a text box, I lose the ability to resize it unless I manipulate one corner at a time with the direct selection tool. I want to join two paths to create a shape that I can fill but at the same time retain one of the original paths (the red one in the image below). I can copy the path I want to retain but surely there is a more elegant solution. See below for for an illustration:
Is it possible to lock text when it is on a path? I'm fine with locking both the text and the path, but it seems it isn't possible. Not to lock just the text or both the text and path. The option is greyed out. What purpose would not being able to lock an object serve?
I'm having issues with threaded text. I've created my desired paths for threaded text, essentially a rainbow, that aligns with my package design. When I create threaded text it behaves wierdly.  The following occurs:  1) creating threaded text with my rainbow paths, it creates the paths upside down. I've figured out how to rememdy this with the path options, but wish it didn't default to upside down.  2) My path layers for each row are in decending order, i.e. - would like text to cascade top to bottom; however, when I start typing, it uses the bottom line first causing my paragraph to read from bottom to top. This is incredibly frustrating!
How do I give Lucida handwriting a 2pt outline stroke, give it an outline path, then unite it with another shape path without the text losing it's outline stroke?? I can't bold Lucida handwriting as it only has an italic option, so need to give it an outline stroke to achieve a bold letter. As soon as I give it an outline path and unite it to other shape paths the 'bold'ness disappears and it reverts to it's original size.
I downloaded the Adobe CS6 cloud on September 1, 2012, and my laptop is a Dell-alienware m11x and it has 4 GB of RAM DDR3,it has an Intel i5 processor of 1.07 GHz,and it has a separate Nvidia graphics card.
So I'm pretty sure it should be able to handle Photoshop, but every time I go on Photoshop it makes my entire computer slow and the text key doesn't let me type in Photoshop.
When I tried to add text it doesn't really work. For example: Let's say I type in "Whats your name?" It won't show I typed unless I go click on a different tab and then go back to it. And the question mark will be in the front instead of in the back. And if I try to erase it, it won't erase.
My text tool is "stuck" on horzontal text tool in PSE10, and any attempt to change results in program crash. I cannot even "reset" all tools without triggering the fatal crash (it's telling me that "ATMLIB.dll" is not a valid Windows file).  I've got Win 7 and more then enough resources to run the software. Actually it ran just fine until recently. Is ATMLIB possibly pointing to a font issue?  I've reloaded the software from scratch (that is I've de-installed, and re-installed it now a couple of times). I've reloaded it and used the regirstration code from Adobe's "my products."  It only seems to happen when trying to select the text tool.  (I did post another message pointing to the DLL but I'm now more suspecious that it might be a font or registration issue.)
I'm able to get Vanishing Point to work up until I place the text into the grid I've created. It then becomes too big for the grid so it looks as if the grid has cropped it. Â it's supposed to say OCCUPY on the ground but instead it's getting cropped and you're only seeing part of it. The original type I placed into the grid was not that large. How can I make sure the text stays within the grid at it's original size?
I can't change the text fonts in Elements 9. Most everything else seems to work except the font family drop down menu. When I click on the arrow, the menu drops but immediately dissappears. The font size drop down works but not the family menu.
I just got psp x3 and i can't get my text to work all it dose is put the 1st letter in and the rest is blank or it put the 1st letter and the 2nd is blank then the 3rd one come up and the 1st letter is gone. I up new up dates in and it doing the same thing
I can't get bevel to work with text. Â I open a text box, type in it in Arial, select "effects/bevel", the docker comes up but is inactive. I go to the pick tool, select the text box, docker still inactive.
I drew a square and filled it, bevel works on it.But after two hours of trying and re-trying everything I can think of, I still can't bevel text.
I have a doubt with the new text command. When i worked in Autocad2002, i could write my text directly in the command line, for example i could paste in a row all the options, followed by the text, but now i have to insert the text near the cursor after i insert the options...
It's possible to work with the text command like in Autocad2002 in the new versions? Writing all in the command line?
