Why does dragging on a Touch Screen change the cursor into a Hand Tool? This did not happen in CS 5.5 and I could edit on my touch screen monitor. With Photoshop CS 6, as soon as I start to drag, the cursor changes to a hand cursor. I have look at all of the system options and nothing seems to affect it so I have to assume it is something wrong with Photoshop CS 6.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWorking away in ps cs5 and click on the direct selection tool and all I get is the hand (move) tool and what ever tool I click on I just get the hand tool! This happened in indesign too.
It goes back to normal if I reboot and just found that when i opened illustrator while having this prob in ps and then went back to photoshop the problem rectified.
When I try to click and drag any tool the curser turns into a hand in photoshop cs6.

CS6 Pen tool, clicking and dragging on an existing path should not change the angle on the adjacent radius handles. It should only dynamically adjust the length of the existing radius handles, based on which direction you drag. It should only affect that one segment and not affect the bordering angles. I've been pathing with Adobe products for 25 years and this should not change now. I want to be able to fine tune ONE line segment without affecting its neighboring segments. The "new" behavior should only occur with a modifier. If the Mothership deems this is the only way to do this moving forward, at LEAST give your long-standing customers a modifier, such as the shift key to enable us to keep working as we have been for decades.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I have a none vector tool active for example the brush tool and I press and hold the Ctrl key down I see the cursor change from the current tool to the move tool cursor. If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.

This condition only exists in the Develope Module when my cursor is placed over the top of the photo. When I move it off the photo it returns to a pointer. In the Library Module it is always a pointer like I like it to be.

Once I roll over the picture the arrow is lost and becomes a strange 3 small things, so can't do any work accurately. Still using PS 7 in Win 7. This was not a problem previously. Photoshop cs6 works almost perfectly on the sony vaio tap 20 windows 8 computer. One problem is the touch screen's compatibility with photoshop. Inorder to draw with my finger or a pen, I need to select outside of the boundary of the canvas and drag in order to draw. The program works fine with the mouse and keyboard, but the touch screen is really what I want to use.

While touch screen works perfectly with Windows 7, and the pen correctly writes on the screen in simple programs like Paint, when I try to draw with the brush (or with any other tool) instead of the brush it appears the small hand usually used to move the screen.
There is any setup I must apply to solve this problem, or actually Photoshop CS6 doesn't plan to support the direct drawing on the screen? In this case I wonder, because I suppose that - when touch capabilities of Windows 8 will be available - many PC and notebooks will use the touch screen technology.
Buying the HP Touch smart I would expect to use Photoshop as on a giant I pad, but for the moment I'm still obliged to use a Wacom tablet!
I have a Toshiba U920T which so far doesn't support Adobe Photoshop when drawing with my finger or stylus. My friend has a HP Slate and it works fine in that. Unfortunately I can't get the same slate as he has as it's older and not in stock anymore. Is there a list of touch screen compatible computers somewhere? ( without the drag out side the screen workaround or start by tapping the mouse button trick which are unworkable for drawing properly )

I downloaded photoshop and the 'touch app plug-ins' through the Adobe Application Manager for creative cloud. When I open a file in PS and select the brush(or any other) tool if I use the touch screen to drag it accross the canvas nothing happens. It still works with my mouse though.

Maybe not always, but that is the way it seems to me in many cases. Even when it does not do so, I find it impossible to move the cursor in very tiny increments by using my mouse. If I were to greatly enlarge the image on the screen to get finer control, then only part of the image would fit on the screen. I want a technique for controlling the selection with as much fine precision as is available when resizing, for example. We can specify hundredths of a millimeter when resizing; very finely precise indeed.
Is there a technique that I can use to have very fine and precise control of a crop, preferably by specifying a movement left-right-up-down using decimal fractions of a unit of distance? The same question applies to using the selection tool.

Is it possible to change this cursor during drag operation to a pointer with some attachment? As normally happened in Windows Explorer while dragging and dropping files among folders.

I would like to try Photoshop for digital art. I downloaded the 30 day trial version of Adobe Illustrator CS 6 about three days ago and noticed immediately that touching my laptop’s touch screen will only allow me to pan using the Hand Tool in Photoshop. I have never had this problem in Adobe Illustrator, as using the touch screen acts just as if I were clicking the left mouse button and dragging the cursor around the screen. I have a Dell XPS 15 - L502X laptop with an integrated touch screen (the entire 15” screen is Multi-touch sensitive). It is running N-Trig DuoSense Digitizer with the latest drivers. Is there some simple setting change that can be done within Photoshop CS6 to make it recognize a touch screen input as a normal left click and thus allow me to draw on it using the pen, pencil, or paintbrush tool? I find it quite odd that I have no problems with this in Illustrator CS6. Could it be that this tablet-like touch screen input is restricted on the trial version?
Here is a link to a youtube video that I put up showing the problem. The first program shown in the video is Adobe Illustrator CS6 using the Paintbrush tool. The second program shown is Adobe Photosop CS6 using the pencil tool. I draw the line in Ps using the mouse pad and then attempt to draw (still using the pencil tool) on the touch screen yielding only scrolling with the hand tool.
