Photoshop :: Why Color Images Turning Gray When Opened In CS5
Nov 20, 2013My images are going gray when I open them.

View 1 RepliesI have used the same basic skin retouching method for hundreds of pictures. Usually I end up with very nice, natural looking skin. Today, the same technique is turning the skin gray on any picture I attempt to use it on. I cannot figure out why. Essentially, I copy the background layer. I do my spot healing on this layer.
When I'm through, I make 3 more layers. On the first, I use the Median filter. On the second, I use a high pass filter. Then on the 3rd, I add I layer mask, painting in black, and go over the skin. It is always gray on the mask. I then go back and reduce the opacity of the high pass and median layers. Usually I end up with smoother, but natural skin and it's normal color. Today, every time I attempt to do this, the skin stays a muted gray. I cannot figure out why. what might be different that I'm not noticing?
I also draw on paper, and now as I want to edit stuff on Photoshop CS2 I find that I am not able to easily and smoothly make the image transparent through a grayscale image of the image...

View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing 2013 C3D. My text and linework is now gray. During opening/initializing of drawing, everything appear fine until it finishes loading, then everything is gray. It just started yesterday when I was bringing in shp files of wetlands in various ways (dragging/dropping, fdo conect and mapimport). Maybe the shp file had nothing to do with it, but I've never seen cad do this.
When I grip the line, the color in layer comes up as correct color, but the line on screen is gray. Also if I copy the multileader or line, the color reverts back to correct color until I save, exit and reopen. BTW - the only thing that isn't gray is my civil 3d pipes and structures.
why everything is turning gray??
My company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using ACAD 2013, and for the first time since I installed it a month or so ago, I opened AutoTrack (by mistake). Now whenever I double click an AutoCAD file, it will automatically open in in AutoTrack, unless I open AutoCAD and open the file that way. It may be a coincidence, but my viewcube has just stopped working, and has become a static, unselectable image - like a fuzzy stamp on my drawing. I can't click or right click on it, and when I zoom, it doesn't stay in the same place at the same size, like it's supposed to.
This was happening when I was using 2012 too, but stopped after I installed 2013. As I said, it has just started up again after I opened AutoTrack by mistake.
I ahve been happily using my photoshop but recently all my images are greyed out with small white and grey boxes so cannot view or change. I have clicked on the imagine open section in history and it makes not difference.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have new laptop with Photoshop cs4. I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M 2G hard drive in the lap top. The colors look great in everything but Photoshop. Everything in Photoshop has a yellowish almost sepia toned tint. I have been trying to figure out what is wrong for several day... (and several hours for several days). I understand that Photoshop color corrects, but if I have de-saturated an image why does it still look sepia in Photoshop and B&W everywhere else?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to create a header for my blog, which I've done and uploaded it here; testertown.blogspot.com (it's just to design the template before uploading). In the Photoshop window it comes up brilliant white background, brilliant colors.
But when I upload it it's like it has a grey haze over it? I'm using Photoshop 9, and have never had any trouble before, I got rid of the blog template I've been using to see if it's being caused by that but no luck. I've tried uploading the image to photo bucket and then inserting it like that, still the same.
I've tried using a transparent background, upping the contrast and brightness of the whole image, starting with a white background in all of the available options: CMYK, Lab, RGB.
I've created a blog header before and it's come out white, with no problems or altering. I have downloaded fonts which I'm using as the header, but the whole image is grey, not just the font area.
I have many images that I need to change the color mode to gray scale - is there a way to do this fast, other than opening each image and changing its mode to gray scale?
I would also love to be able to change the image sizes all at once - any way to do that?
Whenever I slice my layout, it always turns out gray, meaning the whole layout with the images and everything. I think it's because when I "Save for Web", the only option they give me is: Grayscale. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about: link - I would really appreciate it if anyone can help. This problem is preventing me from creating websites, not only for me, but for my clients as well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm used to open my photos as smart objects. So I open them in Camera Raw, edit and open in Photoshop CS6 as smart objects.
My issue is:
In CS6 when I double click the photo and open it again in Camera Raw, I can't find a way to save the edits. I mean, if I close the photo in CS6 and open it again, Camera Raw keeps only the edits I made the very first time I opened the photo.
Why do images opened in CR coming with PS CC always show 2 EV to bright? The same images opened with CR coming with my PS CS6 on another machine open almost perfect every time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) fine yesterday but today each image I open shows a loss of colour, everything looks like a blue tinted grayscale. The same with RAW files opened in ACR and all files opened in Bridge. When I open a JPEG version in Microsoft Image Viewer the colour is fine.In Windows, the thumbnails look fine with full colour in the folders. The loss of colour only happens when the image files are opened in Photoshop, Bridge and ACR.

I changed the colour for the background I wanted to blue before creating the document, and the minute I filled the document with blue it turned to grey and the colour swatch changed to grey. This also happens when I put in one of the graphics that come with the program - as soon as it dropped inteh document it turns grey.

View 23 Replies View Related I do not get the same results with grayscale images reproduced as halftones. While they are not true grayscale prints, the inkjet prints of grayscale images that I print from Photoshop always look good.
However when I see the final publication 20-30% of the halftone images will look dull. Is there some way to better visualize with Photoshop what a grayscale image will look like when printed in halftone?
I reformatted my computer and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 service pack 1 and installed Photoshop CS6 and when I print my work the color gray prints as brown and the yellow green has a shade of brown in it as well so its darker. I did calibrate my monitor, I use sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as ICC profile and RGB in working spaces, and US Web Coated v2 as CMYK. I changed the mode to CMYK 16 bit and proof setup to Working CMYK. In printer setting I set the color handling to Photoshop manages colors and set it to hardproofing. I did match it with the color management in display settings.
I think my Epson T1100 printers are fine because they both print the same color gray as brown so it must be in Photoshop where the problem is.
This is frustrating..Before I reformatted I was using Photoshop CS5 and my prints are fine but when I reformatted and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and Photoshop CS6 the printing problems starts, I reinstalled Photoshop CS5 but the print outs still has problems, color gray prints as brown..By the way, I print on white bond papers and white box boards, so color blending is not the case I'm sure..
I draw comics digitally in Photoshop, working in Gray scale mode to reduce file size (I work very high-res). Is it possible to make Photoshop display certain layers in color, without switching to either CMYK or RGB mode?
