Photoshop :: Pen Tool For Multiple Separate Lines?
Aug 27, 2013I am trying to use the pen tool to develop a rail road switchyard layout. It is a main line with multiple lines coming off of it. How do you make the settings so it does not expect you to close the path?
I want the mainline to be one path, and each switch line to be a separate path. Then I can stroke each path. Can't figure out how to end the path and start a new one as it wants to make it all one continuous path.

It's a great tool, but it only shows up as a rectangle with 4 columns and rows. It would be nice to create an original Warp for odd shapes etc.

Sep 16, 2012Is it possible to warp a Smart Objects using corners and straight lines in stead of curves? I try to make a map icon in which you can easily replace the image on the map. I know how to do this warp with paths by adding anchors, but it won't work with a Smart Object (or a simple image for that matter)
It should look like the right image:
If I try to do it by splitting the image and transform them like on the left image, the transition between the 'panels' isn't correct.
Photoshop :: Better Control Of The Warp Tool?
May 6, 2009I have many images of skies with clouds in them. I would like to warp a cloud into the shape of an airplane. I have tried (thus far UNsuccessfully) to control the warp tool - or more accurately the grid - well enough to do this.
I don't want to crop or otherwise delete the other pixels, because I want the edge to have the "real" cloud effect of wisping away. But, when I try to use the warp tool, too much of the cloud changes.
(I need to make the fuselage section fairly thin, while the wings must remain wide.) Can anyone give me some pointers on how to gain better control? Or is the warp tool completely inadequate for this project?

Mar 24, 2009when you select the warp tool etc you get in the tools options bar a square made of nine dots and you can select one.
I thought it selected an anchor point but it appears not.
tell me the correct name for this "square" so I can search the help files and web.

Aug 21, 2012But I need more control than I can achieve with the nine section grid it imposes on my image.I frequently need to warp a page layout to look like it is situated within an open book..I can get it pretty close but I want it perfect.
I have tried using Puppet Warp and the Liquify Filter to fine tune my warps but they dont really do their thing without deteriorating the image in undesired ways.
how better to control my warps so they follow the curves of the pages more convincingly?Any resources available that show advanced methods of using the Warp tool?(Most of what I find on YouTube is useless beginner stuff)

Jun 20, 2013Puppet Warp is a great tool. But sometimes I want to isolate an area and only rework that spot, while keeping everything else in place. To do this I have to go around clicking everything to pin it down. I'm wondering if there's a way to automatically pin all possible points, or click-and-drag to create pins at all intersecting points of the web.

Nov 28, 2012I've converted a 2D image into a smart object, dragged into a project then transformed it using the Distort command (similar to how you might distort a 2d image to make it sit inside a photo frame at an angle) . I need to then warp that image around over something that looks like a curved panel thats 2D but looks 3d. Its not a 3d object, but a rendered 2d image that just looks 3d.
I'm using the Transform > Warp tool as Puppet Warp isnt available after using Distort when using Smart objects.
Warp works fine to some extent but I could really do with more handles and smaler grid for more accurate warping rather than the default 3x3 grid & handles..
Possible to add more handles/ nodes/ control points (or whatever they'e called) and/ or increase grid points in the same way Puppet Warp does this so as I drag around I control a tigher & smaller space?

Dec 3, 2012When I free transform and warp a layer to lie flat, sometimes I'll get this harsh pixellation at one end of the layer. It doesn't appear while I'm doing the warp, just suddenly coming up when I hit enter to apply the transformation.
So for example, Ill be transforming this grid, which is originally about 9x this big.So when I''m running the transformation/warp, it looks like this Not great, but at least most of the lines are still intact on the left and back (the right side is basically fine looking) But once I hit enter, I get this And now like, half the lines I did have are gone, and what's left is super pixelated.
Is there an interpolation setting I could be using? Is it something unavoidable from how distorted I make the layer?

I have it exactly as I want it, but when I go to apply it, every part of the photo I have warped gets deleted and I just get the white background underneath. I have looked online for guides and videos but when they apply their changes their edits stay exactly the same!

Dec 30, 2011I'm trying to recreate some vintage packaging artwork in CorelDraw. I've imported my reference material to a bottom layer and am recreating the text and graphics on layers above it. The reference photos I have been supplied with have a number of problems and most I have been able to fix in PhotoPaint. (Horizontal and vertical shear distortion). However, the 'fish-eye' distortion created by the camera lens is proving difficult to surmount. I have tried using the Mesh Warp tool but the ridiculously small workspace window it generates makes it impossible to render accurate changes to the image. Is there a way to coax PhotoPaint to create a larger working space to increase its accuracy.

Our office has huge text size for drawing name, which can not be changed to a smaller one (you know the politic craps about standards).
So I wonder if there is a way to break the Sheetname field to 2,3 or 4 lines to accommodate this. So far the field is set to have one single line at best. It was good for "floor plan" but not good for "floor plan and etc, etc...."

Dec 5, 2012For whatever reason(s), after applying the 'Depth of Field' effect, the cloning tool no longer works properly. If I open another image, the tool works just fine but if I return to the image where the 'Depth of Field' was applied, the 'clone' no longer stays after the mouse button is released. That is, the effect seems to be temporarily applied under the brush and immediately disappears when the brush is moved or the mouse button is released?

Sep 11, 2012I have a sort of ring doughnut shape (just to be clear, a circle with the center cut out) and want to add text within this shape. To make the shape, I created a larger circle, then a smaller circle overlapping it and chose "Exclude Overlapping Shapes".
I can obviously click within the larger circle and then type along this path, either outside or inside depending on the baseline shift %, but the trouble is my text is multiple lines. When I press 'enter' I don't get a new line, I just lose the typing tool. Surely there's a way to do this? I'm using Photoshop CS6.

Apr 10, 2013I have Photoshop cs6 extended addition and was told Photoshop would work for the research application I need but so far I am finding it very difficult to do what I want. Basically, I need to be able to measure multiple lines (the red ones in the screen shot) of an image precisely, and make sure that the lines I measure are documented so that they are actually visible (so not just with the ruler tool) on the screen and labeled.
See image for example. I need the lengths (converted with the 2 micrometer scale at the bottom of the image). When I use the info, it gives me the lengths, but I can't save them, or look them up at a different time. Also, when using the line tool, then doing the "record measurement" it does not give me the length of the line but insted acts like it is a thin rectangle and gives me a height (which does not seem to be the same as if I used the measurement tool and put it next to the line, which is an idea I have, but not as accurate) and a width.

Mar 14, 2005How do I create multiple lines of text in a single layer. Everytime I finish with a line and want to go to the next, I hit 'Enter', but that completes the text. If I click on the layer image again, then it creates another layer.
So basically if I have 10 lines of text, I end up with 10 layers of text as well. Needless to say, this becomes to much trouble if I have to center each line of text and add blending options to 10 layers instead of one.
