I am having an issue when I use the "Place in Photoshop" command from within Bridge CC, it is skipping the Camera Raw Dialog box and not behaving like a normal smart object. This has been my workflow for years and suddenly it's not working in CC.
View 1 RepliesI have PSE7 from before and recently purchased CS6. I want to keep using PSE as an organizer and edit in CS6. When opening a raw file (CR2) from the organizer to CS using Ctrl-h the image opens directly in CS without opening in Camera Raw first. If I open an image directly in CS it goes through CR first. How do I send the image directly to Camera Raw and then to CS from the organizer? I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Camera Raw for PSE7 if 5.6 and 7.3 for CS6.

The images have been taken out but there are custom designed objects (masked shapes) where I am supposed to place my images. When I attempt to place a photo into one of the shapes, using the Place Command, it does not work.
How can I place an image into one of the objects?
I am using Photoshop CS6. I have a question about Photoshop command Place.(File- Place) . Here are some pictures below. It shows the problem.
I opened the PSD file that has a green circle(picture 1) and using Place command to import other PSD file that has a red circle(picture2). Those 2 PSD files are same size, same canvas size, 1024x1024. So it should place the red circle precisely on the green circle, but as you can see, if I import the red circle PSD into Green circle PSD, Place command won't place the red circle pensively on the green circle. There is a gap between those 2 circles.(Picture3) It's really frustrating, because I have to move the red circle layer manually to place it just onto the green circle.
This command "Place" isn't reliable, so usually I don't use this command, and use Duplicate layer or group to import contents of other PSD, but if Place command can import other PSD file without this gap problem, I will use it because it's much faster than duplicating.
Do you know why and how to place those 2 files without the gap? Is it a glitch? I should not use Place command to import other PSD file?
We are moving to CS6 at work currently. In our workflow, we need to move from folder to folder (hundreds of them) often, and I do this quickly by dragging the desired folder into the open/save/place dialogs. Doing this immediately takes me to the folder I need without requiring me to navigate there manually.
In CS6, when I need to replace contents of a smart object (which I need to do proably 30 times every day), I right-click on the smart object's name and select "Replace Contents". A "Place" dialog opens and I can drag the folder of the asset I need into the dialog, but the dialog disappears when I click off of Photoshop to drag the folder. This happens in all screen modes. It is impractical to keep source folders in the left bar of the Place dialog (there are literally hundreds of folders I use).
CS5 let me drag files from the Finder into the open/save/place dialogs. CS6 apparently does not.
All of the dialog boxes in my Bridge & Photoshop CS6 have black writing on a black background which makes all of them unusable. I have recently zeroed my hard drive and reinstalled all software (Adobe via Creative Cloud) and this problem popped up.
There is a similar 2012 forum thread which addressed this problem, stating the solution was found by zeroing the drive, then reinstalling:

When I upload my photos in raw format they look ok in bridge but when I open them in camera raw they are always over saturated etc and I have to manually alter them. Why is this happening? Why dont they open as they appear in bridge?

View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to use the Place command it doesn't place the jpg at the center of the document. This is a problem because I'm using Place in many actions that I've created and if the jpg doesn't start at center of the document, then the translation is off.
Details: The document template I am using is 1960x3010. previously in CS3 when I placed a jpg or w/e it always put it at the center of the document (980,1505). Now in CS4 I goto use my actions and the Place command and it's always slightly off. The Place command is putting things at 983,1505.5 and such, which screws up the final placement of the images. SO what can I do?? Oh and I have tried this on OSX and Windows machines, bother with same wrong result. I have roughly 100 actions that use Place and would rather not have to go through and try and fix every single one manually when they worked perfect in CS3.
One thing I noticed is that with CS5, when I choose Browse in Mini Bridge while in Photoshop, Bridge opens in the background. In CS6 when I browse in Mini Bridge, regular Bridge does not open, although I can open Bridge directly from Photoshop. The other strange thing is that I can open Camera Raw from mini Bridge, just not from regular Bridge. I get the same message as others get, that Bridge's parent application is not active and that I must launch a qualifying product at least once in order to open Camera Raw. I searched all the files I downloaded and installed for "trial" but nothing came up.

If I double click on the icon, the image opens up correctly in the CR2 plug-in. They worked before, I've opened and closed Bridge and PS, I've purged the cache, but it's still not working.

Bridge opens a copy of PS (cs6) whenever I try to use that command. I've done everything from re-installing to reset all settings.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am not able to see or open Raw files from my Canon 40D in either Photoshop CS3 or Bridge CS3. At first I was able to open RAWS in Photoshop and then I followed directions on the internet at how to manually replace a Camera Raw Plugin so I could open it in Bridge and now neither of the apps work with RAW. In photoshop It says that the file is not supported.
I looked up what plug in I needed and it said 4.2 for a Canon 40 D. I also followed the instructions in the read me file that was with the plugin download. No results from it. I even tried to switch it back to the old plug in to see if I could atleast get back the capiblility of opening it in Photoshop even though bridge was not working...still can't open it in either. What am I missing?

The base layer is a jpg file and the image needs to be placed ('Place' command) on top of this layer and I call for a couple of other processing steps after that (these extra steps are not shown below). Easy enough to turn this into an action.
>Open (open the bkg image)
>Place (place the subject's image file)
>Set Current Layer (change blend mode of subject image layer)
>Save
>Close
But, when I try to automate this action, the Place command does not work properly. It's because I chose a specific image file to be placed. How do you program an action with a 'wildcard' so that it can be used in batch and process a whole folder of images?
I have about 20 images that I was trying to Burn in a DVD but , I ended up getting CR2 Alias files with an arrow at the bottom left corner.

When I'm using a card reader that does not require batteries, is it because they are Leica DNG files??? I have managed to drag and drop instead but would prefer to use "get photos from camera".
I have recently modified the CC of a part family so that different materials for the same part can be chosen. When I exit the editor and place the component I can see the choice of the materials in the dialog box - no problems (See 1st attachment" But when I go to another users PC they cannot see any of the new materials in the "Place content center" dialog box!?!

The CC libraries are stored on the server and we have one custom library to which I have publish the modified part family.
The custom CC has been fully synchronised with the Vault server.
The materials.xml containing the new materials used in the part family has been downloaded to the users local workspace.

In the menu under File there is a command "Close and Go to Bridge" Is there a way to do something similar for returning to Lightroom after a "Save"?

However, when I open my photos( I have a Canon Rebel T2i so the file extension is .CR2), it says, "processing Camera RAW file" and then opens the photo in the full edit mode instead of the Camera RAW dialog box. I checked my plug-in, and I have version 6.7 of the Camera RAW plug in. I'd really like to start working with Camera RAW! Oh, and I am working abroad for a couple months and do not have my installation disks with me, so uninstalling and re-installing PSE is not an option.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to turn on a command dialog box for Revit architecture 2012?Whenever I try to perform any knd of command from the "ribbon bar", I don't know the status of the command until I ht cancel and see what the command may or may not have done.
I noticed that, whenever I enter a command (such as "place a component"), I have to hit "cancel" TWICE to get out of it. Seems strange; I would expect to see an "end" command, instead of "cancel" (which implies exiting without doing anything). Or maybe I'm just going nuts trying to learn Revit.
