Photoshop :: Uninstall CS6 Beta By Dragging App To Trash - Now Won't Install Real CS6
May 26, 2012
Unfortunately I attempted to uninstall my CS6 beta by dragging the app to the trash, then emptying the trash bin. Now the install disk for CS6 still sends an error message and says there is a beta version of CS6 on the disk and won't install the real CS6.Â
I installed Photoshop CS6 beta on my Mac, OS 10.6.8. Once I purchased and went to install CS6, the installer informed me to uninstall the beta version of Photoshop, but didn't say how, or that there was a catch. I went and uninstalled Photoshop CS6 beta by dragging it to the trash. OOPS! - now the release version won't install, and I can't find anything on the Adobe website other than private messages from Adobe employees to specific users with the same problem as to how to rectify the issue. Â Aside from venting my frustration at a situation I (and others have found ourselves in that could have been prevented by a little better planning and installer design.
When I drag a layer mask to the trash, it applies the mask instead of deleting it, removing all masked out pixels. I don't believe this was the case before CS6. Is there a way to adjust this setting and make it simply delete the mask? Â Right-clicking still gives me the option to delete the mask properly.
I checked the FAQs and found general instructions which presume there is an entry in W7 Programs & Features. There is no entry in my system, and I found no Uninstall app in any Adobe CS6 folder.
Prior to seeing or reading the bright red warning of not trashing the beta, it was done. Â Now CS6 won't install. Says an earlier version is on the machine. Â Which specific files must be uninstalled to allow the CS6 installation?
I have taken the opportunity to try Lightoom 4 beta but have decided to stay with CS6 when it arrives, I cannot see any way to remove the program from a Mac, in the aplications folder where lightroom is there seems to be no uninstall option, I have tried to drag it to the trash but that does not work, I want a lean machine for when CS6 arrives so a Gb of HD space would be worth having.
My Photoshop CS6 BETA has updated and so I need to uninstall it before proceeding. It is not listed in my add remove programs and I can not see it with my CCleaner either. Â If I go to the directory there is no set up file nor uninstall file anywhere.I am using Windows 7 and Photoshop Beta version 13.0.0.0.
Getting an error when opening the downloaded pkg file "Operation could not be completed.com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1 Couldn't open Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.pkg"
I've given up on CS4 and wanted to try CS3. I still have a few days left on my trial with CS4. Do I Have to uninstall it before installing CS3? I'm hoping I'll have better luck with it.
I reinstalled Windows recently, including my licensed copy of Photoshop CS. Since activation for CS is no longer supported, I downloaded CS2.I'm wondering if I should install Photoshop CS2 over CS? Or should I uninstall CS first? Is one method preferable?
I removed Font Navigator before updating to version 16.4 because it didn't work well you know. But now I want to install it again. My system is 64 bit.
What if I install it from CD, because on CD there is the older not fixed version of FontNav and I don't know what to do next. How can I update it after installing it or I have to remove all Corel programs, reinstall them and update to 16.4?
All of a sudden my Photoshop desktop shortcut was gone. I then tried to launch it from the original exe file in the program file folder - but it too was gone.I then tried to uninstall Photoshop and received the following error message during the uninstall pricess:Photoshp.exe' is in use. unInstallShield has detected that 'C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop 6.0Photoshp.exe' is in use. Please close the application using this file and launch unInstallShield again.
I'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?
We installed a new printer. Works fine with all apps except for PS 13.0.4 mac.  I've reinstalled the printer driver ( current driver etc), restarted etc. PS doesn't seem to hold the default paper sizes and will not print to the new printer ( it will print to another printer on same network).  Any prefs specific to printers with Photoshop that I can trash? and hopefully not have to trash all prefs.
any of these hold printing info: Â [URL]..........
Having upgraded my Operating System (Mac) I have been tidying up my Organiser. I have gone through reconnecting any files that were disconnected, then I've been writing Metadata to the files so I can import them to my new Lightroom.. I have just discovered that copies of all these photos have been placed in the trash - over 23000 of them! I am panicking slightly as I don't know what has happened. The photos seem to be still in the proper folders as well. They have the same names.
I work with photos that I put on desktop. I open them with preview, make a copy, and paste them into other software. When I am through with them and don't want to use them again, I usually move them from the desktop to the trash....that's when I get the (?)(missing file) notation on my photo in organizer. Is there a way to remove them from the desktop without moving them to the trash. Using macbookpro os x 10.6.8
I cannot seem to remember how to successfully trash the preferences in Illustrator CS3 PC platform. I tried moving the preferences folder, but I think there is one other thing that needs to be done..
I've had to trash my preferences for Illustrator recently and used the Cmd-Opt-Shift-Ctrl method. Â I've been a little confused that there wasn't any alert confirming that I wanted to trash the prefs. Â confirm that Illustrator DOESN'T give this alert dialog when trashing the prefs?
I just mistakenly deleted all my 5000 dng files, and some xmp files are in the trash too. How do I get them back in the catalog? My last backup says it was after I had deleted them (apparently I set it to auto backup?) My only excuse is that I was in an accident 2 days ago. Maybe shouldn't be doing much in Lightroom~!
