View 1 RepliesIf I delete an image from my library it is not appearing in 'Trash'. I am pretty sure it used to, and this may be since the upgrade to LR4.1, but I am not sure. I am on an iMac with Lion.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed Lightroom 4, more than 60000 images were imported. Many of them were duplicates, triplets and so on. I want to have a clean, unincombured library. Should I delete the 60000 images and reinstall the images from my photo digital cards or use the slow process of "X" out the unwanted images? I would like to start improving my images vs removing the unwanted images.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLR 5.3New 2013 iMac with 3T fusion driveOS X Mavericks I migrated all of my apps, files, etc from a 2007 iMac, following Apple's procedure. To take advantage of the speed of the fusion drive, I moved my image files from a La Cie external drive to the iMac's fusion drive. (Yes, I am backed up, triply backed up with both external backup drives and cloud backup.) There were a few hiccups, but I straightened them out and now can access every one of my images, process, etc.
But...since the migration and importation to the iMac internal fusion drive, I cannot delete images. When I'm sorting, I use the X key to mark images for deletion. Then, when I use the standard cmd-delete key combination, I get the standard window offering me the option of just removing the image from the catalog or deleting it from the disk. When I select the latter (since I don't want rejected images clogging my hard drive), a new window appears: The file named "___" could not be moved to the trash folder."
The problem occurs only since the migration and moving of the images to the new drive.
I have tried numerous fixes suggest in various forums—create a new folder, then delete it to create a channel for LR; check permissions; repair permissions; run various commands through terminal. It's maddening because I sometimes reject a few hundred images at a time, and there's simply no reason to retain them on my drive.
how do I delete several images at once from (disk) instead of one at a time its killing me with 1,000 photo imports sometimes...I need to know how select several images at once when importing and how to delete once images have already been imported.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have LR 4.2 on Windows 7 x64 (having recently upgraded from LR3).After flagging images in a collection as rejected I want to remove them from disk.In LR3 I just clicked Ctrl + Backspace and I had the option to delete from disk or just remove from catalogue, I don't get that option in LR4
worked fine in LR3. I've searched the preferences and can't see any option, I've also clicked "reset all dialogues" in case that was hiding the option but still nothing. I've tried in Library and Develop and no option still, I can only remove from catalog
I accidently threw a few photos into the trash in LR4. How do I recover them? I can't find them anywhere.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just mistakenly deleted all my 5000 dng files, and some xmp files are in the trash too. How do I get them back in the catalog? My last backup says it was after I had deleted them (apparently I set it to auto backup?) My only excuse is that I was in an accident 2 days ago. Maybe shouldn't be doing much in Lightroom~!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI deleted hundreds of photos in lightroom, and I think they also got deleted from the folders that I exported them too because they are now missing.
When I deleted them they went into my trash, and then I went on and emptied my trash.
I don't have their thumbnails or anything, is there any way I can get these back?!
I'm just starting to use lightroom, and one of the features I'm looking for is the option to automatically delete the images from my flash card after they have been imported. Is there a hidden option to do such a thing?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSomething went wront on an ingest of my images. I think I tried correcting it by going into my /workingfiles folder were they were stored and deleting them manually. I'm sure I checked to see if I could do it through Lightroom, but maybe I missed the folder they were put in. I am guessing that is what happened so Lightroom still has a small image of them somewhere and will no longer let me re-import them.

When I import images into Lightroom 4 I always automatically backup to my external drive. I then edit my images and usually end up rejecting about 1/3 to half of my images. I delete these permenantly from my PC and the L4 catalogue. BUT they still appear to remain on my backup drive which is now innevitably full. Is there a quick and easy way of deleting these rejected images or syning the master files with the catalogue to free up nearly half of my backup drive?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAny easy way to select all my unflagged (unpicked) images and then delete them from the hard drive in LR4.
For example, I recently shot over 400 images of sports for a local paper, and after editing and saving the JPGs for publicaation, I only want to keep about 30 images as Raw files. These were all "picked" (flagged) some of them were given colour labels.
I tried selecting them and then inverting the selection to show the unflagged ones for deletion, but this didn't work.
When i try to delete a file from LR using the delete from disk option the file does not so up in my trash. I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

Until yesterday I was able to delete pictures, using the contextual menu or the delete key. I got the message asking me if I wanted to delete them from disk or from the catalog.
But now, that popup message doesn't appear. The picture is not removed, just nothing happens.
I checked the logs and this is the error message:
performCommandDesc could not perform command ag.library.expandAllStacks (Command was disabled.).
I uninstalled LR moving it to the trash. Then I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist and I also removed the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
I rebbooted the machine and installed it again. But the issue is still there, with the same error message.
I verified the disk and checked file permissions.
I also tried to use another catalog from a backup.
Nothing, same error.
One anusual thing that I did before the error was to install the "HDRsoft Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom - Version 1.0"
I removed it but the error was still there. After the re-install I didnd't install that plug-in again so if it was the problem, it shouldn't be after the clean installation that I did again.

Having upgraded my Operating System (Mac) I have been tidying up my Organiser. I have gone through reconnecting any files that were disconnected, then I've been writing Metadata to the files so I can import them to my new Lightroom.. I have just discovered that copies of all these photos have been placed in the trash - over 23000 of them! I am panicking slightly as I don't know what has happened. The photos seem to be still in the proper folders as well. They have the same names.
View 4 Replies View Relatedfind a way to delete succesfuly unused images from the library and can find no way to do this.Is this really the case? if so it needs to be addressed immediately. Its very common to try many images in this sort of composition and the auto renamimg protocol makes it virtually impossible to weed out unused images at publish time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I drag a layer mask to the trash, it applies the mask instead of deleting it, removing all masked out pixels. I don't believe this was the case before CS6. Is there a way to adjust this setting and make it simply delete the mask?
Right-clicking still gives me the option to delete the mask properly.
Unfortunately I attempted to uninstall my CS6 beta by dragging the app to the trash, then emptying the trash bin. Now the install disk for CS6 still sends an error message and says there is a beta version of CS6 on the disk and won't install the real CS6.
