I cannot seem to remember how to successfully trash the preferences in Illustrator CS3 PC platform. I tried moving the preferences folder, but I think there is one other thing that needs to be done..

I've been a little confused that there wasn't any alert confirming that I wanted to trash the prefs.
confirm that Illustrator DOESN'T give this alert dialog when trashing the prefs?
We installed a new printer. Works fine with all apps except for PS 13.0.4 mac.
I've reinstalled the printer driver ( current driver etc), restarted etc. PS doesn't seem to hold the default paper sizes and will not print to the new printer ( it will print to another printer on same network).
Any prefs specific to printers with Photoshop that I can trash? and hopefully not have to trash all prefs.

I change it to what I want, and as soon as I use the brush, it jumps back to the old settings. How can I change the settings and have them stay so I can create multiple strokes in succession without having to go back and change each one? It's so frustrating.

I have a substantial library of symbols, brushes, and swatches that I've been carrying along with me since CS3.
I just installed Illustrator CC (among other apps) and I was wondering if there was an easier way to migrate all that stuff into the new version besides dragging files into folders like I've had to do in the past.
When I click on the button, the dialogue box does not appear and the program is locked up until I hit escape. Before I do that it "pings" when I click elsewhere.

In the past, I've simply trashed my plist files in my user's Library's Preferences folder. I did this and it doesn't seem to work. I'm not computer savey enought to do any programming work without very clear instructions. I see that people have talked about the difficulty with doing such things in Mavericks.

How can I permanently save these settings? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all my symbols named and catagorized in alphabetical listing. Whenever I open a new symbol library it alwasy reverts to large thumbnails. These thumbnails are usually too small to see the small differences between different shirt types. Also I have trouble with white symbols being hard to see.
Anywho obviously I can just switch it to large list view and then its fine. But I'm getting annoyed that I have to do it every time I open a new symbol pallet. Its like 1 more task that I feel like this several hundred dollar software should be smart enough to do for me.
I've looked in preferences to no avail. How or if you can set the large list view as a default for opening libraries. Brush, symbol or otherwise?

I am working my way through the lessons in Classroom In a Book for Illustrator, and you are asked to delete the current preferences prior to starting each lesson (this ensures the panels, etc, work in accordance with the text). I use a Mac with Lion as my operating system and, as instructed, went to my Library folder to find the "Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings/en_US" file, yet it is nowhere to be found. I have saved files (which should result in the creation of a preference file) and closed and re-opened Illustrator. Nothing seems to be working and/or produce the preference file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've found this a most irritating issue already since CS1.I use Pantone colors a lot in my designs and always have the Pantone Solid Coated Color book open in Illustrator. However, no matter how often I save workspace, as soon as I close Illustrator and restart the color book has disappeared from my palette settings and locations. I have to re-open the color book every single time.What is the problem with this? How can all the other windows be saved in the workspace settings and preferences, but not the color books?
And why is this issue not yet addressed, when it's been coming up already since CS1? It's not a computer / preferences file issue.CS1, CS3, CS5 and now CS6 were all installed on a brand new (empty save for operating system) computer.
PC, Windows 7, AI CC..I have a document that displays units in points, and when I change the unit type to inches in the preferences panel and the Document Setup panel, the change won't apply.
I've tried saving as a new document, restarting, etc. I even tried setting the units to other units... doesn't matter what I have the units set to in preferences, it's always displaying points.
The rectangle tool is drawing at 90 degrees. I tried to fix it with the preferences>general>constrain angle, but I see that is ALREADY set to 0 degrees, yet the rectangle is 90 degrees! Is there another setting I should be aware of?

I have gone through reconnecting any files that were disconnected, then I've been writing Metadata to the files so I can import them to my new Lightroom.. I have just discovered that copies of all these photos have been placed in the trash - over 23000 of them! I am panicking slightly as I don't know what has happened. The photos seem to be still in the proper folders as well. They have the same names.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I drag a layer mask to the trash, it applies the mask instead of deleting it, removing all masked out pixels. I don't believe this was the case before CS6. Is there a way to adjust this setting and make it simply delete the mask?
Right-clicking still gives me the option to delete the mask properly.
If I delete an image from my library it is not appearing in 'Trash'. I am pretty sure it used to, and this may be since the upgrade to LR4.1, but I am not sure. I am on an iMac with Lion.
