When I go to open a CRW Image in CS5,Bridge It will not open.It says Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
PS How do I tell what version of Camera Raw I have.By the way I have a Canon EOS 10D camera.
While I'm in ps cs5 and have converted a layer to a smart object, when I click/double click on the layer or the icon it will not open into camera raw. I have tried this with jpgs, tiffs and psd files, I have no other problems with raw, bridge of Photoshop. I have also downloaded the latest patch from Adobe.

I have to go outside of the program and open them by dragging the file onto the dock icon. This means I cannot open any of my digital camera files (transferred into Nikon Transfer into "Pictures") from the program. So, I have to go 'outside' of PS, and then back in – and this eats up a good deal of time, and this latest version isn't as quick as it used to be.
Sometimes, it won't even let me open a file I'd worked on only a few hours before. Again, I can open them 'outside' PS, but I keep getting this error when I try to access them from via command-O:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
I've reset the defaults twice. Fresh operating system. Clean user account.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having a issue with Photoshop not opening any PSD of image file of any kind. I searched forums and discussions and tried all of the fixes that some people with the same symptoms were able to overcome this with.
One suggestion was to use a different windows login, with this I created a seperate login to my Windows7 x64, and when logged into this windows profile Photoshop works as expected , all features work normally. This issue first presented to me after upgrading to PS CS6, and for many months I have removed passwords from my computer so that I could use fast user switching between profiles, this is tedious at best. All working OK until 8 days ago, then bridge just disappeared completely. Looked like it had opened but would disappear when I clicked on the icon. Re-installed, Bride now visible but unable to view .CR2 files in camera RAW or in Photoshop, comes up as "unable to open".
Have tried to install the 5.7 camera raw update, extract files, click on application, then Photoshop opens and advises "invalid file type". Not sure what to do now and have a large number of wedding files slowly building up .
At first, I wasn't able to open .nef files from my Nikon D800E. I then realized that I needed to update my camera raw installers. The available versions were 6.5, 6.6, and 6.7 from the adobe website. I also downloaded the Adobe App Manager as it was required to install the updates. The downloading process for all 3 versions worked fine. However, when I tried to install using the adobepatchinstaller, it didn't work. And I tried on all version individually. They all gave me the same message: not the right patch.

I get a response that says "nothing imported - no supportive file types" also "can't complete request as file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by installed version of Camera raw". I c n open jpgs in Camera Raw, but I can't open tiffs in Camera Raw. I must be doing something wrong.
The settings for jpgs and tiffs in Windows file association are identical.
The settings for jpgs and tiffs in Bridge preferences are identical.
Yet, I can open jpgs in Camera Raw, and I can't open tiffs in Camera Raw.
I have the following equipment:
iMac OSX 10.7 Lion
Photoshop CS4
Lightroom 3.6
Camera Raw 5.7
All SW has the latest Patch. When I open a Canon CR2 out of PS, the Camera Raw plugin shows up and I can make my settings. When I try to right-click from LR, the window does not open. The file is opened but no CR-plugin.
It used to work on my iMac with SnowLeopard.
One thing I noticed is that with CS5, when I choose Browse in Mini Bridge while in Photoshop, Bridge opens in the background. In CS6 when I browse in Mini Bridge, regular Bridge does not open, although I can open Bridge directly from Photoshop. The other strange thing is that I can open Camera Raw from mini Bridge, just not from regular Bridge. I get the same message as others get, that Bridge's parent application is not active and that I must launch a qualifying product at least once in order to open Camera Raw. I searched all the files I downloaded and installed for "trial" but nothing came up.
