Photoshop :: Toolbar Click Produces Flyout (same As Right Click)
Apr 16, 2012
Just reinstalled Photoshop CS5 after needing to reinstall Windows 7. Now instead of being to just grab the tool I want, it produces the flyout each time and I have to re-choose what I want to use. This is rather annoying and time consuming, if I am using the same tool.
Can it be coming from Windows or just Photoshop. I did try resetting the preferences and nothing changed.
I've had to reinstall CS5 after a new Windows installation. Never had a problem with it before, but now I have the issue where if I click on a tool that has sub-tools, it now expands to show them. Before, to access them, I had to click and hold for them to appear. Now with them expanding on the first click, it's interrupting my work flow.
Additional issues have arisen while I'm here, such as, when doing web work, I'll change the rectangular marquee to single pixel horizontal (e.g.), make the selection, do what I want with it, then press M to adjust another single pixel line, but it'll return to the full rectangular marquee, like it resets.
I'm running a test at the moment with Open GL disabled, to test drivers or display issues, but it's doing the same thing.
im using LT2010, with the autocad classic menu, if i click on a line the layer toolbar is not displaying the layer name of that line, it seems stuck on the current 'set' layer. also right click edit has stopped working and i cant seem to reset it via, tools/options/user prefs.
if i click onto the 2D drafting workspace, the layer problem above doesnt occur but the right click edit still doesnt work.
I have two menus that I use often and I would like to add them to my mouse buttons. Attached is a picture of the two menus I like and the two buttons. The Shift + Click has the correct menu already (Osnap menu2) my problem is adding my custom menu to the CTRL + Click doesn't work. I labeled Osnap Menu 1 and 2, 1 being the custom menu I have use in the past and 2 being the default osnap menu that comes with the cui file. How to get the second button to read my menu rather than both read the same osnap 2 menu?
I use cs2 and when in photoshop when i left click on any of the tools for instance the pen tool it brings up the menu to select pen tool, freeform pen tool, etc.. rather than just selecting it. I am use to having to right click on the the pen tool to get that menu, i was wondering how i would change it back. Same thing happens when i left click on all the tools on the tools menu, just used the pen tool as an example.
Since we updated to CC, I have a very good chance of this not working evey time I try it. Maybe 10% of the time, it will select the word/line as it should. My prefs are identical for this feature as they have for the past several version of InDesign. My partner also has trouble with copy/paste in InDesign and Illustrator as well.
CAD-Newbie working in paper space zoomed in close. I want to return to page extents but am zoomed in so close I can't click outside paper space to move view control toolbar to model space. is there a simple key command to perform this function?
I had a major ATM Subsystem Failure yesterday. After 10 hours of stuggle, futile calls to Adobe support, my husband found some Microsoft cleaner thing and was able to reload CS3 after 9 attemtps, but not in the normal Adobe file folders - only to the desktop (this was suggested by Adobe support).
Now when I go to any .tif or .jpg file and double-click to open, I don't even have Photoshop as an option for opening the file. I navigate to the place where this file is and click Photoshop CS3 and the Photoshop.exe, but nothing happens. How come Photoshop is not being recognized as a picture editor?
CS5 won't open PNG file using right click contextural menu. Same for "Open With" from the file menu. The following message is received "Some of the application components are missing from the applications directory. Please reinstall application"..So I uninstalled CS5 and reinstalled it from the DVD - no difference Restarted the computer - no difference.
CS5 opens the PNG files fine if I use "Get info" to designate CS5 as the program to open the file and then double click on it. It also works fine if I open CS5 and go to the file menu and use the "open" command and then navigate to the file I want to open.
Weird that this just started to happen long after I upgraded to 10.8. It worked fine yesterday. Nothing significant has been done to the computer recently.
I try to draw on my graphics tablet, the brush pop-up comes up instead. Aiptek and Vista are unable to correct their problems so I need a way do disable that pop up in Photoshop (CS2). This is the same pop up that comes up if you right-mouse-click on the drawing while the brush tool is selected.
I'd be glad to disable ALL of the right-click pop-ups in Photoshop in order to work around this behavior.
When ever i try saving to a pdf from photoshop, it says the following:''preserve photoshop editing capabilities is incompatible with earlier versions of photoshop. In earlier versions you must open the pdf as a generic pdf'' I cant right click on the saved pdf and open it in photoshop, only i must open photoshop and place the pdf and the layers come with, however i still wish to open straight from the pdf?
In all of the previous versions of CS as well as Version 7 you could Right click anywhere on the top bar of a "floating" image and see options to do the following:
Duplicate
Image Size
Canvas Size
File Info
Page Setup
I cannot do the same thing in CS4. Why would they disable this option? Can we change it back to the way of the previous versions? If so how? Who do we complain to about this?
I am not a fan of the opening images into the window so all you see is the file number followed by the "X" so you have to go to "Window" then choose "Arrange" then chose either "Float in Window" or "Float all in Window". I like to be able to see all of my images and make a choice when viewing them as to which I am going to work with first. Can we make a permanent change to the way the program operates?
I installed the other day Photoshop CS2.After a while working with it i wanted to select a layer but s the Ctrl+click command didn't do nothing. Anybody knows if there is another shortcut to do this?
I've been working in PS CS6 a while now and notice a consistent behavior, different from previous versions: it does not recognize the first click, after choosing a selection tool from the tool panel.
Try this:Select "Rectangular Marquee" tool, using the tool panel.Move cursor over document and click-n-drag. The tool does not work. It must be clicked a second time to work. When selecting the tool using the keyboard shortcut, this does not happen.
I am running CS3 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. Starting yesterday, every time I click anywhere on the menu bar, Photoshop crashes. This is not happening in Illustrator. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CS3, deleted Photoshop preferences, validated all fonts, and installed all available updates for my system.
I'll restart the computer, and then photoshop and it will let me work on it for a short time, then it won't pull up an image. I had CS4 and decided to upgrade to the monthly photoshop to see if that would fix it and nope, it started again!
I am working on a video at the moment, it's pretty painfull because I am tying to adjust the audio. When I try to adjust the audio of one of my video's within the timeline the only thing tha appears is "Motion".
In the tutorial, when she right-clicks the correct features show up:How do I correct this?
I just moved Photoshop CS6, Bridge CS6, and Lightroom 4.1 to a new MacBook Pro Retna running Lion 10.7.4Camera Raw 7.1 is installed.
If I double-click a JPG image in Bridge or Mini-Bridge, it will open in Photoshop. If I select a JPG image in Lightroom 4.1 and then select "Edit In" Photoshop CS6, I will get the normal dialog box that asks "What to Edit" with the three options. The image then appears in Photoshop.
If I double-click a CR2 (Canon 5D mk III) image in Bridge or Mini-Bridge nothing happens (the image does NOT open in Camera Raw).If I select a CR2 (same camera) in Lightroom 4.1 Photoshop immediately opens (no "What to Edit" dialog), no image appears in Photoshop and Camera Raw is not launched. If I select a CR2 (same camera) in the Mac Finder, Photoshop is launched with the image in Camera Raw.
How can I fix the behavior of Lightroom, Bridge, and Mini-bridge?
I was just wondering if it is at all possible to edit what shows up in the right-click options box within PS. I am Using PS CS5 12.1 at work and if I could add a few things into this options box, such as the align-left/right/center options, it would really work with my workflow. I already have some actions set for various functions, but if I could add some extras for quick access via right-click it would make my world and my day so much brighter!
I cannot even fix it by restarting my Mac, I've also zapped the PRAM on a couple of occasions and still no luck.I've also tried resetting Ps preferences as well as all Ps tools.
I find it very annoying as it is just the way I am used to working and it is therefore slowing me down.I am also getting this same issue in Illustrator
Not only that, but I can no longer use 'space+click' to use the hand tool to move about in my Ps document. It's as if Photoshop (and Ai) is just not taking any notice of these shortcuts… even though my keyboard is not malfunctioning.
For some reason Ctrl + Click for layer select does not work any more or should I say properly. When I use Ctrl + Click instead of going to the layer it only jumps to the folder containing that element rather than the layer it's self. Is this new with CS4 or is something not working?
I uninstalled Adobe CS3 and now anytime I right click on a file I get the message "please wait while windows configures Adobe PDF Creation Add-on" This is very annoying, how do I stop this.
