I click and hold on a tool in Photoshop CS 6 on the Mac and it takes 2-3 seconds for the submenu to display. All my mouse settings are towards the fast end. Illustrator CS6 displays them much quicker and previous versions of PS weren't this slow to display the submenus. Can I speed up the submenu (alternative tool) display?
View 2 RepliesI happen to click on tools instead of using the hotkey, if it feels convenient or whatever. However, on my work machine I'm having a problem where a single click opens up the submenu for whatever tool I clicked on. For example, I click on rectangular marquee, and instead of just selecting rectangular marquee as the active tool it also presents me with the little submenu to choose from the alternative marquee tools. In all the years I have worked with Photoshop, this is the first time I have experienced this--usually I have to click+hold to get the submenu. Click+hold is the behavior I want out of this feature, but I can't find any setting in the preferences to enable/disable this weird mode?

In my tool palette is have some controls. In some systems entire palette is visible completely, but in some systems, the bottom controls in the palette are not visible where the system settings are different. Is there any option to display scroll bar in the tool palette automatically?
For some reason, the tool palette I usually use is not accessible. I opened a drawing that a co-worker was using and my tool palette now looks like an old version - it doesn't have any of my custom tools in it. How do I get back my tool palette??

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat setting would cause a huge, well about 5-second, delay when any entity is selected without a command active and only with the Properties Palette on-screen but autohidden? If command is given first, verb-noun, no hesitation after selecting at Select Objects: prompt. But, selecting any entity first, noun-verb, causes the 5-second delay before the mouse is again active. Very annoying. Closing the Properties Palette completely seems to cure the delay problem, but at a different cost in editing time. The workstation is running WinXP Pro with 4 gigs of ram.

Now, when I add a layer mask, it only appears as the mask icon; i.e., gray square with white circle in the middle. I have no clue what I did to change from the one to the other, but I would certainly like to get the alpha representation back!

In ACA 2011 this only works for lines/polylines. Plus the wall, door and window palettes are gone. How can I retreave them?
Out of the blue, my Layer Control will not work. When I click on the icon, the top two lines on the screen go gray and the whole thing locks up. The layer palette does not appear. If I try to choose anything on the screen, it beeps. It unlocks if I hit escape. If I type in "layer" at the command line, the same thing happens. At this point, I am unable to change lineweights & colors within my layers settings.

The blue bar however, is visible.
When I click "Tab" the bar disappears.
When I click "Tab" again the blue bar reappears but no tools under it.
All tools are available in Image Ready.
Anyone notice a slowdown with cropping in CS3. It seems excruciating slow now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the hand tool to "slide" and image under CS3, the image movement is very smooth and without a glitch. If I use the same hand tool under CS4, the image movement is jumpy and erratic. There does not seem to be any "use hardware acceleration" option as is available in bridge.
I find this makes it rather difficult to move the image quickly and smoothly while I edit a large image looking for flaws (for example, dust spots on scanned negatives).
When i click any tool on the left the pop-out options turns up direct. Earlier you had to click and hold on the little arrow in the bottom right to pop-out that.
Is there a way to stop it to auto pop-out when only clicking?
The psd processor spins not stop until I pick up the wacom mouse and click on an adjacent layer then back to the layer I was working on. Then the wacom pen work with the brush tool. This seems to happen when every time I pick up the pen and go back to the brush tool.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have CS6 installed on a Mac Pro desktop, 3.3 Ghz dual-core processor, 6 GB RAM, several physical drives configured as scratch disks, and no other applications running. I CAN'T be running out of RAM.
The files I'm cropping are .PSD files, no larger than 34 Mb in size. I can't even crop a web-res image - the progress bar grinds to a near halt half way through a simple crop. The machine has not locked up and PS does respond to "cancel" commands.
Graphics card is an nVidia GE Force 8800 GT, and the drivers are the latest from nVidia.I've restarted the machine and restarted PS. Delete Photoshop preference file and try it again?
Periodically I am having problems selecting text! I will select my text tool and go to edit text and the type tool changes back to the selection tool. I have to fiddle around an click on different layers then go back to the type tool and then it will start working. I am not the only person in my company who switched to CS6 and is experiencing issues with this new program running slow. Switing from layer folders also causes thing to freeze up. I am running off a Mac Book pro with OS Lion 10.7.4. I uploaded CS6 just over a week ago.I only used the CS5.5 trial version so there should not be a conflicting problem with a CS6 trial version.

I own a copy of Photoshop CS6.Switching from Photoshop CS to CS6, I have found this version to be extremely slow and I can not find a reason why it is like this. It is impossible for me to work on it.
Problem: Slow performance, when using the brush tool there is a long delay - lag. The brush takes more than 8 seconds to catch up with my strokes.

Tried:
- Memory usage allowed upgraded to 6GB, nothing changed.
- Default selected "Scratch Disk" is the main SSD which has over 58GB of free space, I've tried selecting the secondary HDD as well but nothing changes.
- Disabled the "Use Graphic Processor" square. nothing changed.
- Disabled the "Use open CL" square in advanced Graphic Processor Settings. Nothing changed.
- Changed power management settings in windows to "High Performance". nothing changed.
- Disabling tablet pc service doesn't work.
Notes:
- Graphic drivers are the latest release on AMD website
- Windows is completely updated
- SSD Firmware is the latest available.
- The issue happens both with mouse and tablet.
- 1px brush and 5000px brush lag just alike in zoomed and not zoomed canvas.
- This happens on both x64 and x86 versions of the software.
I just got a copy of CS2 and, I have questions.
I dont do any freehand work and always require pixel precision, also I work with small resolutions <600px at 72dpi/16bit.
How the heck do I kill anti-aliasing, when i set the brush to 1px I only want 1px!?
I have 272x480, 72dpi/16bit image and 2px from the edges I want a 4px border.
(path, drop shadow, inner glow, bev & emb, color overlay, stroke) then I want to bisect it in a number of locations. The problem is I cant do perfect pixle placement and get ugly overlapping. Last program I used I would select path and throw in x,y in all the locations I would want, then select the corner and bevel it to whatever I want. Using the rounded rect tool is nothing but a headache.
Usually I can click a took and thats the end of it...if I want to show hidden I have to click the little arrow or something of that nature. Now when I click a tool it automatically opens up the hidden tools menu, which makes it very annoying to select tools because I've then got to click it in the hidden menu to select it.
Also performing things such as double clicking hand tool to show an image full screen don't work becuase as soon as I click the hand tool once it opens up the hidden tools menu and won't allow me to double click it. I've tried resetting to defaults and even checked my wacom/mouse settings...cant figure out what the issue is.

I must have clicked something or inadvertantly pressed a keyboard shortcut or something because a couple of weeks ago, the sub-tools on the tool palette started popping up without me having to hold down the mouse button for a second. Now when I click a tool (the rectangular marqee tool for example), the hidden tools (eliptical marqee, single row etc.).
I'm using PS CS5 on Windows 7.
I am talking about PSE 11. How can I move the tool-palette or the Video window on a second Monitor, as was possible in PSE 10?
In PSE 10 it was possible to use all tools in one palette with one click in the Quick-Mode. Now in PSE 11 we have to open each individual tool before we can use it? After the action this tool closed, so that we have to open it again in the next step. This takes much more time. Is ist possible to switch back to the arrangement of PSE 10?
