Hopefully I haven't overlooked a tutorial here somewhere - I've searched but not found anything. I'm guessing this'll have a really basic solution that I've missed completely...
When I use envelope distort on a a chevron shape, the text warps beyond the shape and new anchor points and curves are automatically added. Here are images of [URL]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on a Windows XP. I've been using tutorials to create things. Many of them call for the option filter -> distort.
But my problem is that I do not have that distort button.
The options I have in filter are Blure, Noise, Pixelate, Sharpen, Stylize, and Other.
I've been trying to use either displacement or the 3D function to create a realistic looking tattoo on a photo, but even the simplest line image won't bring up the "distort" or "render" option under "filter." I'm using CS,

When It Comes to Step 4, Filter > Distort is Unselectable.
so I made a displacement gradient map, flat image, I saved it as .psd file, with ICC deselected, then I opened desired image, a jpeg one, I choose filter-distort-displace, I enter 100 horizontal, 0 vertical, strech to fit and repeat edge pixels, ok, select the newly saved displacement gradient map.psd, ok and NOTHING!!!............no displacement, distortion, NOTHING!
what I did wrong? seems like nothing but I must have slipped something out of memory.
I'm working on a Wrap for my Van and designed the initial design concept at low resolution. Now I'm recreating the file at final output resolution and for some reason I cannot use the filter-distort option. Its greyed out, any suggestions as to why or how to fix it?

I was previously running CS4 and Lightroom 2 without problems on Windows XP Pro 32 bit - I recently upgraded to new hardware and Windows Vista 64 bit so that I could use more RAM as I was regularly receiving running out of RAM messages when working on large print resolution files.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Mac with Photoshop CS. I have this tapered swoosh, so to speak, with a layer mask attached to it. When I go to Edit/Free Transform/Distort, I only get a single box when, as far as I know, I should be getting multiple. This singular transform box only gives me as much movement as the regular transform, which isn't enough. Does anyone know what's wrong? It's necessary that I dip the middle of the swoosh and modify the swoosh in ways that only a whole bunch of directional options will handle. Should I be using Warp? I don't have Warp though...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've begun to run into an issue quite frequently that I just cannot find a work around for. The first image shows what it looks like in Photoshop:
Then this is what it looks like in Adobe Acrobat after it's saved from PS:
You can see a whole swath of text is just missing. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to save correctly. This is a high resolution image, exported at press quality.
When I design a website template in photoshop. is there any way to save it in a manner that would allow me to edit the text using HTML? When ever I "Save for web," I end up with text being converted to image files.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working with a scanned image. Added lots of text over the image. How can I save and print just the text? I want to print it on transparent paper as an overlay. The only way I can see how it lines up with the image is to scan the image in 1st. someone else told me to go back to the layers palatte and delete the layer I don't want. How do ya get back to all the previous layers? Once the image is saved to the desk top the history palatte disappears too.

View 3 Replies View Relatedunder the Transform command I use the distort function quite a bit, usually to correct lense distortion. When using the distort function I use the mouse to select a top left or top right corner handle and drag it to a point where I am happy with the result. I want to do the same but instead of using the mouse I want to use the keyboard direction arrows to effect the same change. At present if I select the left top corner handle, and I use the keyboard arrows the whole image moves in that direction. It will not apply the same action as the mouse does. The reason for wanting to use the keyboard is I want more control over the correction. I find using the mouse a bit all over the place in getting the correct point.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhere the upshot of the post is that the filter isn't working because the the map wasn't saved with compatibility turned on.
The 2nd person to reply, Terri Foster, said "maybe the map is buried too deep in your file structure" - she is absoultely right.
I spent 2 days reinstalling Photoshop (CS2) and trying to get the effect I wanted without the displacement filter. My file was buried 8 folders deep and I tend to use square brackets in folder names, too. Once I'd saved the map to the desktop instead,
I usually distort my image with the classic skew, rotate, scale... tools but
that time I really need to deform the image along a path.
So I want to draw a path (selection) and distort the image along it.
I opened an existing psd file in Photoshop CS2.
It just consisted of a bottom layer and another layer with a fill.
I flattened the layers.
I then went to filter>distort>lens correction, because I wanted to introduce some lens distortion to the image - but the "lens correction" option was greyed out.
I tried doing this with another image and it was fine.
I want to add progressive blur to a pic from left to right, I can do so on several layers with masks, and add more and more blur on each one.
I would like a similar effect, but with the wave filter.
For example, a straight horizontal line at the left that slowly starts waving in larger and larger amplitudes.
(the final idea is a bit more complicated, but I only want to get some initial help so that I can figure out the rest myself).
In fact: several other filters from the distort group behave the same way: apply more intense filtering to a next layer, and the beginning/end and curve doesn't fit anymore.
When saving a GIF the white text is disappearing from the dark background. All other layers are visible still. I have saved GIF's without text and have had no problems. I'm using the latest build of PS CC only, no plugins, on a Windows 7 based machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Photoshop to create multi page pdf documents, using psd files with layers so that the text is selectable. A few months ago, this worked fine. Having not used this function since, today I tried to design a new brochure only to find a block of text was not appearing in the pdf document. Or it was appearing but messed up - mostly missing but some is there, some is invisible. Single line text is fine. Through trial and error I discovered text box text is fine, as long as the text doesn't go over two lines.
I tried an old document, which I have already made a brochure with so I know it used to work, and it now has the same error. I also tried simply saving the file as a single pdf doc and it has the same problem, so its not only the multi page function. I've tried different fonts and different size fonts.
I have updated Photoshop, but that hasn't solved the problem.
I have a psd file that i had modified the text color of a text to red and saved it for the web. Default on output settings, tried other output settings, but the red just doesn't save?! The text turns to black in gif format.
View 6 Replies View Relatedtrying to navigate and learn some of the basics in PS. So forgive me if this sounds ignorant, but what is the best way to quickly label pictures as 'proofs' or with your logo, if you have one? Can you make a text layer and just access it everytime you want to put it on an image?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a question about Adobe Illustrator, not Photoshop, so I hope this fits under this topic category. I've been given some floor plans done in Autocad and they need to be converted to PDFs. Autocad does not save as PDFs so what I have to do is open the files in Illustrator and then save as PDF. The problem is that, for some reason, Illustrator won't save the text that's included in the plans. I can open it and see the text just fine (labels, dimensions, unit numbers, etc.), but when I save it and open up the PDF file, all the text is gone. I'm getting around this by transfering it to Photoshop since Photoshop does preserve text when saving as PDF. But even this is more difficult than it sounds. In order to transfer it to Photoshop, I have to first open it in Illustrator, copy and paste it into Photoshop, and then manually retype all the text because even when copying and pasting from Illustrator, the text dissappears. Does anybody know how to preserve text when saving as PDF in Illustrator, or at least how to preserve text when copying from Illustrator and pasting into Photoshop?
