AutoCAD Inventor :: Maintaining Visibility Of Work Features?
Mar 6, 2013I went to the trouble of going through my model to turn off visibility for many many planes and axes and points that I did not need to see. I had only a few on that I need. By some flick of the wrist suddenly they are all back on again!! I am now back in a state where I can either see them all, or I hit Ctrl-] and they all go away. I cannot seem to get back to a point where I only have on the ones I want.
So, how do I definitely TURN OFF visibilty for ALL work features so that I can then selectively TURN ON only a few? The Object Visibility tool does not seem to do this. It doesn't seem to do much more than the Ctrl ] or Ctrl / or Ctrl . that I use to momentarily toggle visibility.

Mar 20, 2013Is there a way to automate the process of turning off the Work features in a .iam and STILL be able to add new Work features. View>Object Visibility is not the answer because you are unable to construct NEW Work features. If there isn't a menu selection, can a “batch file” be developed to search the Browser and turn off all Work features currently listed in the tree?

Sep 16, 2011I am learning to use Revit 2012 and having a hard time figuring out why basic drafting features don't seem to work with reference planes. Aligning more than a few of these one-at-a-time is time consuming - any way to extend multiple reference plane lines to a boundary line or object? I read your instructions for offsetting reference planes - when I select the reference planes button in the home tab, the options bar allows me to set an offset distance but I am at a loss as to how one goes about getting the line to offset - I keep getting the layout dimension when i try to click on the line!

create a part, pattern a plane, save as 'test deriver'
create new part, derive work plane 1 from 'test deriver' sketch onto work plane 1, save as test derived
go back to 'test deriver, delete the pattern and create a new pattern, work plane 2, (i couldnt just edit it because the real life case was a series of patterns at different distances)
open part 'test derived', edit the derived part to include work plane 2, (work plane 1 doesnt exist in 'test deriver' anymore) redefine the sketch onto work plane 2
try to get rid of work plane 1 from the part?

The tool "Adjacent elevations by reference" seems to work fine only when feature lines are well parallel one to another ?
Also, it seems that C3D method works fine if "parent" object and "object to edit " have similar number of vertex, similiar "lenght",....
AutoCAD Inventor :: Rule To Control Visibility Of Work Features In Pro 2014
Oct 2, 2013Is there a way to write a set of rules so that I can switch Work Features On and Off via a Text Parameter.I have an assembly made up of a number of parts used hundreds of times within in various sub-assemblies. If I make a particular sub-assembly 'Invisible' then subsequently 'Visible,' all work features that had previously been set to be 'Invisible' are switched to 'Visible' also.
Likewise if I simple want to set a particular Work Features' Visibility in one particular sub-assembly, I would like to be able to do this via a Text Parameter rather than having to laboriously scroll down the Assembly switching the visibility of features on and off.
At the moment if I turn the visibility of say a Work Plane On in a sub-assembly then all sub-assemblies deploying the same part switch the visibility of that Work Plane on too. Hence I cannot see my work for Work Planes.Obviously the Global Switch under View is of no avail,
So I would like to be able to create a Text Parameter for each sub assembly and in turn each Work Feature with a Yes/No Visibility switch controlled via a set of Rules in iLogic.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Work Features Cannot Be Made On Bent Sheet Metal Part
Jan 21, 2013I have attached a simple model to detail what I am having trouble with.
I have constructed a sheet metal tube by first creating a flat sheet face and then by folding the sheet with two, 180 degree bends and large radius. I am doing it this way in order to simplify the drawing of the cutouts that are required in the "real" sheet (with many more cutouts than in the sample I have provided.)
When I try to add work points or work axis to the holes shown in the sample, only the holes on the second bend will accept the work features, the holes on the first bend will not - giving the error:
TEST.ipt: Errors occurred during update Projected loop failed because of multiple vertex solutions Work Point8: Could not build this Point Copy Point Zero or multiple solutions for Point Copy Point. Use Redefine Feature to change its definition.
I am using the work point as reference to the center of the hole in order to position a rod.

Aug 27, 2013In a previous life, i used to have a short, one-line macro in my MNL file that would read the location of the currently active drawing, find the parent directory of that drawing (truncated to 3 levels) and open a Word document in that directory that is named after the project.
For example, if the active drawing path is
"Q:/Projects/12345 Cold Storage/Elevations/Phase 1/North Storage.dwg"
this macro would open the Word document named
"12345 Cold Storage.doc"
that was in the directory
"Q:/Projects/12345 Cold Storage"
If the file did not exist, it would be created named the same as the 3rd level directory. After i wrote this, it sure sounds like a lot, but as i remember, it was a short, one-liner.

Nov 17, 2011I am using Autodesk 3D Map 2012 Enterprise. I used Infrastructure Administrator 2012 to create a File based schema with the required tables and domains. This has created a DWT file and my understanding is if i create a DWG file using this DWT as the template then i should be able to create the features with the attribute details stored in SQLLite. I am also not very clear whether this SQLLite would be embedded within the DWG.
I have an Utility network asset map of a city with OSMM background and Address Layer 2 in UK which i want to transfer to a DWG file created in this template. The source data is a ESRI filegeodatabase format with data held in 30+ featureclasses. I can convert the featureclasses into SHP files.
a)My problem is how can i import the contents of the shapefile into a DWG file created using the template defined using Infrastructure Administrator 2012 above and indicate that the attribute should go to SQLLite or is it something implicitly handled ?
b) It leaves me wondering as why Autodesk is not stressing on the adoption of SDF which is projected as a DWG with relational datatables? What is the intended use of SDF?
3ds Max :: Backburner 2013 On Windows Server Enterprise 2012
Nov 21, 2012we have a dilema regarding Backburner 2013:
I work at a studio and we want to buy new servers and we want to purchase Windows Server 2012 wich, from what we read is based on Windows 8 architecture. We read BackBurner 2013's specification and Windows 8 didn't appear as supported.
Our question is: If we buy Windows Server 2012 Enterprise for the render farm will it work with Backburner 2013 without any problem?

We don’t proxy ports 80 and 443 directly (we use 8989-9093 for proxy ports), so I don’t see any way of meeting these requirements at the present time, at least in the wired Enterprise network.
Illustrator :: No Printer Resolution Options For HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M601
May 22, 2012Running under Mac OS 10.6.8, we've run into a problem printing separations to our new hp LaserJet Enterprise 600 m601 printer from Illustrator CS4, CS5 and CS6.
In the printer dialog box, once under the "Output" section, with the mode set to either "Separations" or "In-RIP Separations", there are no options listed in the "Printer Resolution" drop-down.
I've tried re-installing the driver, changing the resolution settings in the printer itself, using a generic PS driver, and contacting hp directly (their solution was to contact Adobe). I have yet to contact Adobe itself, but none of my other attempts netted a different result.
In the document ink listing, the Frequency and Angle listings are still editable, but needs to be done manually for every colour, and the dot shape options are non-existant.
We had previously been using a hp LaserJet 2300n, but we were running into insufficient memory issues on an increasingly frequently basis. The driver for the 2300n had several different sets of Printer Resolution settings, so once the new printer was set up, I *assumed* that it would have the same kind of options.
I have discovered that if I change my PPD from the proper driver (HP LaserJet 600 M601 M602 M603) to the old one (Hp LaserJet 2300) I am then able to select the resolution I want from the drop-down list, switch the PPD back to the proper one for the M601, and it seems to work (leaving the 2300 as the PPD file results in a warning and a failed print attempt).
I also tried printing something from a non-Adobe program using the M601, and there were two options available for printer quality (resolution?) settings.

I have created my add-in using VS 2010 SP1.0.
Now, if I try to launch Inventor(w/o Run As Admin i.e just double click) 2014 SP1.0, in Windows 8, my add-in works fine.
If I launch Inventor with Run As Admin, My add-in stops receiving call backs from Inventor.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Custom Enterprise File Or Partially Loaded CUI Files In Main CUI
Feb 26, 2013We have a Custom CUI Enterprise file that we load in the profile settings (AutoCAD 2008). I transferred it though the CUI Editor and saved it for AutoCAD 2012. When I load it into AutoCAD 2012, the pull down custom pull down menu does not show, with or without the menu bar turned on. I have some partial CUI files that I did the same way. When I load them, and list them in the Main CUI file as such, they show up as expected. I even tried to list the Custom CUI Enterprise file in the same manor, but I get a "read only" type message and it still doesn't show the pull down.
I also thought about transferring it to another CUI file to partial load and not have a Custom CUI Enterprise file.

May 20, 2012So today I downloaded Photoshop CS6 Extended edition (64-bit) for Windows. When I tried to use the 3D features, it wouldn't let me, because I didn't have enough VRAM dedicated. So when I went into preferences, I could only set my VRAM up to 503 MB. I would say that I just don't have enough video memory; however, I have 3061 MB. I tried going into my BIOS and adjusting the video card memory allocation settings, except I didn't see any.

Sep 3, 2012When I attempt to extrude some text in CS6, there is no ground plane, no widgets, no viewing panel and none of those fancy grab handles that are meant to be there. The move, scale and rotate for 3D tools have a 'no entry' sign when I attempt to use them on the model, even though it has extruded.

These actions have no effect. Restarting my computer doesn't always fix it. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with Photoshop CS4 64-bit. Switching to Photoshop 32-bit fixes nothing. I have the patch installed.

Aug 9, 2012I have just installed Photoshop CS6 and I found a video tutorial on Youtube to educate me how to use the new 3D fearures for the text option. I followed them to the instructions online but when I went to select the 3D option, all the options in that dropdown list were 'greyed out' and unselectable.

Jun 12, 2013I was recently having trouble getting my 3d features to work in photoshop. I tried re-setting everything and reinstalling the program and changing preferences and nothing worked. Finally after about 4 hours of trying to figure it out I figured out that I was working in CMYK color mode, so I changed it to RGB and that fixed it. So, if you're having trouble with this make sure you check your color mode and be sure that it is in RGB not CMYK.

Photoshop :: Bridge Over Features
Dec 12, 2007I'm messing with CS3. I have Bridge set to allow me to use ACR to open jpegs as well as RAW files. Worked fine for a while... all of a sudden the "camera raw preferences" option is gone from Bridge. I can still open files FROM Photoshop in ACR but not from Bridge. Even when bridge allows it to open in ACR it has to start Photoshop to do it rather than just popping up the ACR window like it was for a while.
This is a known problem without a known cause that I have been able to find in my research. It's not platform dependent from what I've been reading after much googling. Resetting preferences, clearing cache, and playing with settings don't seem to make any difference. From what I've read online, even reinstalling sometimes doesn't work.
