Photoshop :: Selection Tool And Scrubby Zoom

Oct 25, 2013

I am using Photoshop CS5.1 on a Windows 7 laptop. Its about 3-4 years old. But this problem has started only recently. Every time I use the section tool, it will almost always break my scrubby zoom and makes a weird, glitch looking box. (as shown)

It also drops the quality of my images slightly. Does this have to do with my video card?

Photoshop :: Scrubby Zoom And Hand Tool Stop Working Out Of The Blue

Feb 12, 2013

I checked my preferences and OpenGL is enabled, so I don't understand why it randomly stops working when I'm trying to get work done. Been working for less than four hours today and have had to restart Photoshop CS5.5 6 times. It starts working for a little while, then the "Scrubby Zoom" box becomes greyed out and the shortcut doesn't work as well.

Also when I hit space (hand tool) to drag the image around, that stops working at the same time as the zoom. I'm using an Intuos4 with this, haven't had problems with it until recently but there haven't been any significant changes in my machine (PC), which has a nice graphics card, processor, etc. I'm using Google Chrome, maybe it has something to do with my browser being open at the same time as PS?

When I uninstall my ATI Drivers scrubby zoom works and also the animated zoom works. When I install the drivers for my ATI 6970 GPU they don't. Under Performance the OpenGL is selected, the video card detected is AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series. I have checked that I have the latest drivers. What do I do?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Multiple Grip Selection Not Working When Pan Or Zoom During Selection

Jul 12, 2011

When I select a hatch or polyline or any object with grips for that matter, and hold down shift to select multiple grips on the object or objects and then press my middle mouse button to pan or scroll it to zoom, the grips that I have selected de-select, meaning I have to set up the view so that all the grips I want to move are visible before selecting them.

This is only happening on some drawings (although it is most of them) and only when I use 2012 not 2011. Which system variable it is that has gone screwy that I need to reset? or is it something else?

Illustrator :: Selection Tool Suddenly Acting Like Direct Selection Tool During Click-and-drag

Aug 22, 2012

This morning, my Selection Tool (the filled-in arrow) is acting like a Direct Selection Tool (the hollow arrow), but only when I click and drag on a group.  It ends up select the anchors within the group rather than the whole group itself.

I've checked my preferences, quit and relaunched Illustrator a few times, and nothing seems to fix it.  The problem briefly went away a few minutes ago, but came back when I quit and relaunched for good measure.

It's happening in Illustrator CS 5.1.  I have CS6, and that version works fine, but I'm waiting on some plugins to be updated for it, so I'd like to use CS 5.1.  I'm also running the latest Suitcase Fusion 4.

Photoshop :: Magnify Or Zoom A Selection

I'm trying to make a magnifing glass on an image and I've done this once before, but can't figure out how I did it.

I want to make a selection and magnify or zoom the background just in that selection.

I remember that it was a very simply thing.

I thought maybe a filter, but I can't find it.

I'm using PS 7/Win OS if that matters.

Photoshop :: Why Vector Selection Tool (white Arrow) Change Layer Selection To Another

Sep 1, 2013

I have been continually annoyed, when creating a vector mask-heavy document, with trying to select vector mask points by dragging a rectangle only to find that it instead selects a layer higher up which has a larger vector mask.

The only workaround is to manually select the points of my mask or to drag a rectangle from outside the canvas, meaning I have to zoom out or scroll to the edge - sometimes annoying if I am zoomed in quite far.

I know that the move tool can be set to automatically select a layer, depending on what part of the image is clicked, but why is there not an option to turn this off for vector editing?

Photoshop :: Selection / Patch - Select Blue With Quick Selection Tool?

Dec 10, 2012

If you look closely in the attached picture, there is a spot of light blue on the player's helmet, that looks like a mistake (think it should look like the grass behind it)...though it actually may be part of his helmet.

Regardless, I'd like to take it out. My idea was to select the blue with the quick selection tool, then bring that selection out to the grass, select the grass with that size/shape of selection, copy/paste and then bring the grass selection into the blue part so it looks like grass in what was the blue part.

The problem is I don't seem to be able to move the selection without taking the blue with it (so it's not an empty selection and therefore can't select a piece of the grass.)

AutoCad 2D :: Accurate Selection Using Zoom?

Jul 8, 2013

If I have a long column (100) of blocks on, say, 1" centers. I want to select block numbers 1 through 98 and copy them to another location. I enter CO, left click and hold to create a selection fence starting at the #1 end, then zoom in (using the wheel) to the last 4 blocks to accurately place the end of the fence between #98 & 99. I'm expecting to have selected #1 - 98 but find that I have only copied 97 and 98. Blocks that were no longer visible on the screen are not copied.

Photoshop :: Zoom Tool In CS5

Feb 28, 2012

I'm currently using Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.4. I recently updated my video driver, and now I'm having a problem with my zoom tool.

Basically, I used to be able to select the zoom tool, then click and drag to draw a "box" around whatever I want to zoom in on.  This is the behavior I want.

Right now, however, if I select the zoom tool, the behavior is that instead of getting the "box," it just zooms as I'm dragging.  That is, I click, hold down my button, and when I drag to draw the box, I instead end up zooming in (or out, if I drag the other way) of my image, until I let go of holding down the button.

Photoshop :: Zoom Tool And Gestures In CS6?

Jul 23, 2012

In all other versions of PS I was able to zoom using either a scroll button on a mouse or when I was Mac a pinch gesture.  In CS6 it seems that the only way to zoom is to select the zoom tool then there's a variety of different ways to zoom.  Is there a way to not have to select the zoom tool first like it used to be?  I am using a synaptics gesture touchpad, Windows 7.  I am able to pinch to zoom in most all other applications.

Also, another issue I see in CS6 which is causing an extra step from old versions- the "window-arrange- tile all" had a button on the menu bar.  how to get those buttons back on the bar.

Photoshop :: CS4 - Marquee And Zoom Tool Draw Random Boxes

Mar 28, 2012

Bug in CS4 - when starting a new selection (Marquee Tool), random sized boxes will appear BEFORE dragging and releasing the mouse button to define a selection. The boxes will often extend from the first mouse click to an image edge, but it's unpredictable. I need to release the mouse button, deselect (left click), and then start over again. Once this behavior begins, it can recur repeatedly, making marquee selections VERY frustrating. It also occurs with the zoom tool.

I´m running Photoshop CS4 on a brand new Dell Latitude (integrated Intel graphics) on Windows 7. The CS4 is also a brand new installation. I´ve tried a couple of different mice and also disabling Open GL. I had the same issue on other laptops I used over the years but not on all of them.Actually there was a thread on this issue a while ago but it seems to be closed now and no satisfactory answer was provided.
