I would like to know how to automatically register the file with a partial modification is the name to prevent destroying the original file. Since i am working most of the time on one file at the time, i would like to be able to apply a script which provides the final touch and save the file in the same as well with a little modification in the name: Example:
IMG_4000 --> IMG_4000b
So it means that i do not go via the batch processor to change the name.
It seems that any picture saved in TIF format using Photoshop Elements 5.0 cannot later have the Summary section of its properties modified. I discovered this when trying to add comments to pictures after using Photoshop to modify them. Windows XP gives the following error message when you try to change anything in the Summary tab of the file's properties:
"Changes to Summary properties could not be saved; access has been denied.
The file may be marked read-only or may be in use by another application."
The file is not marked as read-only, and Photoshop is not open. Rebooting does not fix it. Even copying the file to another computer does not fix it. The error stays with the file. It should not be an issue with permissions, since I'm logged on as Administrator on both computers. It's not a problem with TIF files, since I can modify the Summary properties of TIF files that were created with other programs, for instance my scanner. And it doesn't happen with files saved by Photoshop in any format except TIF. Something Photoshop is doing when it saves a TIF file results in modification of the Summary properties being permanently disabled.
I'm scanning old family photos to digital format and use the lossless TIF format for the master copies, so using another format is not an option. But I want to be able to go back and add comments to the master copies as new facts about the people and places in the photos come to light. I can keep a separate text file for descriptions of the photos, of course, but that always runs the risk of the comments getting separated from the picture.
how to modify the options in the save dialog?Every time I save a file and have to choose the file type, I have to scroll through obscure and obsolete file types. Sure, I might need someday to save Scitex CT, or Photoshop DCS, but the chances are very slim. Some people surely use PIXAR and TARGA, but I don't. What the hell is an IFF? If I ever need a Portable Bit Map (really?) file it would be great if I could find it in a user defineable option pull down. I can pretty well guarantee that the file types I need are PSD, TIFF, JPEG, PDF, PNG and once in a blue moon, GIF.
for a study that I have to do, I did run a company specialized a 3D scan of some engine parts. Files that have given me are .stl that I can not modify or edit with inventor ..how can I make these stl files like editable solids?

I create a file of pemnut drawing so that I can use it as library file and then copy and paste to other of my other drawings. I don't know what is going on of the file. After 2 hours I created the file, it cannot be edited/copied.
In the Select File dialog box, I can modify the column widths and I can change the column content. For example, I can delete the "date" column and add a "date modified" column. But, I haven't found a way to save the settings that I prefer to have each time the dialog box opens. How to save the settings as the default dialog box?
I am a new user (using Autocad 2006). My problem is I have been given a drawing file that I need to modify but it was drawn in inches, I have always worked in mm's. Can I convert the original drawing to mm's??
I need to rename and replace occurences in an assembly, then modify the occurence name.I rename and replace only Farme generator components, which is tested by <condiftion>.What I want to do :
- Num = ABC - Original filename = toto.ipt -Â New filename = ABC_toto.ipt, and Occurence name = ABC_toto
The code :
fileDir contain the file path docFName contain the original file name (for example, toto.ipt) Num contain the prefix to add to the name and the occurence name (for example, ABC) If <condition>Then
                           New_name = fileDir & Num & "_" & docFName                            Call oFileNameOcc.SaveAs(New_name, True)                            Call oOccurrence.Replace(New_name, False)                            oOccurrence.name = Num & "_" & oOccurrence.name End If
The problem is, the first time I use the macro, the prefix is added twice in the occurence name (the filename is ok) : I obtain ABC_ABC_toto. This happen only the first time, and only on an orrignal Frame Generator assembly.
If I use the macro again, with for example Num = 123, the result is : 123_ABC_ABC_toto.Where is the problem ?
I have recently installed Inventor Suite 2010 on a new computer and I am receiving this error on a majority of my files.
Cannot modify the library file W:T46DManufacturing Drawings8300673-.idw Component W:T46DManufacturing Drawings8300673-.idw is not checked out to you. Edits are not allowed on this file.
I understand this has something to do with using Vault. However since I am the only one using Inventor and these files are not shared, I did not install Vault on the old computer or the new one.
All of a sudden I get this message when I try to change the materials of any part within my workspace folder. I looked at the project and everything looks fine. I can save the file but cannot change or add anything now.
I have some .gif files that I want to use on my website, but the colors of some elements in them need to be changed.
Is there a way to select all the elements in the .gif that are a particular color, and change them to another color?
Also, do I need to do anything to the .gif so that it will allow me to make those changes, ie unlock a level or one of those other things that always seem to confound me?
In previous versions, I could Select--->All, then Select--->Modify--->Contract, which is very useful for creating frames, vignettes, etc. In CS4, after Select--->All, all of the Modify options are ghosted out (inactive) except Border, which is not at all the same as Contract.
All Here is a close-up of a starry sky background of one of my photos created in CS3I want to 1) Reduce the sizes of the points of light2) Increase the luminosities of the centers of the points of light3) Sharpen the edges In other words make the stars smaller, brighter, and sharper WHILE MAINTAINING THEIR COLOR. I've tried the minimum filter, sharpening in a luminosity blending mode, and a couple more obvious techniques.
am using PhotoShop for web development but mostly for digital photo manipulation.
I have found a couple of PNG files that I thought would transparent but were not. How can I transform an existing png file that has been used to modify the boarder of pictures for rough edges..... The png file is not transparent and has a lot of internal noise/distortion that keeps the "magic wand tool from being able to clear out the middle are in one fail swoop?
I've created a collection of patterns, obviously different one from other, but my problem is the icons of these patterns are so similar, very difficult to identify the exact one. Â My question is if it's possible to modify the miniature or icon of every pattern, so I can for example change the color or even write anything over. Â I've try the plugin "Pattern Maker", but this is not possible.
I've drawn a hollow ellipse shape (shape layer). I would like to remove the bottom half of the ellipse shape so that I am left with a parabola shape. Â I've tried creating two shape layers and combining them in such a way as to subtract out the bottom half of the original ellipse but I am obviously doing it wrong.
We need to know how to make a retangle, bend the lines and fill with color (dancing ants). If this product cannot do it whst will? Can I get a reduced price since I purchaed Adobe element 10?
In PS CS5 Extended latest version. I select all, then go to Select|Modify, and all choices are grayed out other than border. This is an 8 bit RGB image. The layer is selected. I also tried flattening it. I also tried creating a new image, RGB 8 bit depth. Also 16 bit. Nothing works. Â I double checked CS3 and this works in CS3, but not CS5.
Google suggests that there is no option other than to delete it and then redraw..

Is it possible to modify a rounded rectangles radius in Photoshop but I find this a big time waster as I'll then have to redo all the colors and strokes and all other changes i've made such as perspective and so on.
Mac OSX 10.7 PS CS5 Â The problem is that after using my select all, or using the marquee tool (tried both ways) to draw the selection my contract option is still grayed out it (like most everyone else has said). Only difference is, it was WORKING fine 30 min ago, I've used it many times while working on numerous documents and now all of the sudden it wont work on anything. I havn't made any changes to any prefs, but maybe I hit a hotkey and locked something? I remember when my define pattern was grayed out, I read a post where I clicked one simple option and voila it was back to normal...something with a spacebar shortcut I think?
Some tools I always use, some every once in a while, and some I never touch. Is there a way for me to rearrange the tools in the Tool Panel so my most used tools can sit next to each other? It would be nice to get rid of some of the tools too. I can always set a Hotkey if I really wanted to access them later.
When selecting an area I would like to modify/transform/reshape just that selection (the marching ants) without moving the underlying image. How do I do that?
I downloaded a resume & cover letter template and I am not able to figure out how to delete information and modify existing information to customize these documents.Â
