I am running an ATI HD 5670 video card and recently upgraded from Win 7 64bit to Win 8 64bit. The screen is blacking out on select and crop. I also experienced this after installing CS6 on Windows 7 64bi Pro. The problem was resolved by installing a new driver. I have the latest driver installed.

I used the Polygonal lasso and selected certain areas then used fill to fill them in black. However there are still rough spots around my arms and it's not very smooth looking at all. My friend reccommended using the feather tool, but I can't figure that one out either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a movie of an object (actually a fly) moving left to right in a sequence of PNG files (around 100).I want to crop each single PNG file WITH THE SAME SIZE so that the center of the image is the center of the fly. The aim is to have the movement but having the fly "locked in the center".
For this I could use the crop or the select tool. My problem is the for the crop tool i can center the crop on the center of the fly but I cannot select a fixed size (like with the selct tool) and with the select tool i can select a fixed image size but i cannot center it on the fly's center. Hope i managed to express myself...
Is there a way to select the crop tool with the same frame size or to see the center of the select tool?? I noticed that once you select a fixed area the cursor position becomes the upper left corner of the selection.
When using the crop tool in CS6 the screen turns black so am unable to see to crop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I create a shape on my canvas, or I use a shape as a clipping mask, the entire canvas blacks out and I can't see anything until I click off to the side, in the workspace, so none of my layers are selected. This has happened when I have dropped items onto my canvas and am moving them around, as well.

I sometimes get a message on load saying that Photoshop cannot find my 3D settings (although my Graphics card has 3D capability), but as I'm not using Photoshop's 3D editing tools, this is no issue to me at present.
I am using Inventor 2013 to create some complex shaped Maritime items. They have a lot of lofts, variable radius curves, fillets, etc. Anyway, on the more complex pieces, my menus start to dissapear or a dialog box, for example the fillet dialog box, will turn solid black and my system will hangup for a minute while executing the command. Am I running low on system memory or is this a video card issue? Here are my system specs:

Just wondering if I'm missing something when I select the crop tool to remove a section of a image. Is there any way to move the marquee around as if it was a square converted to curves...just move the handles to say a triangle? I know I can powerclip to any curve design I can create..it just looks as if you can use the handles to flip, rotate, etc..

Magic Wand - select a pixel/color on the screen. Magic wand will then select all colors that correlate to your selection. I use the magic wand to kill backgrounds out of photos.

When Lighroom launches the first screen is a "Select a Catalog" Screen. Can the various entries in this screen be edited or deleted? How? Can the list of catalogs therein be cleared?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever I attempt to marquee select (click-hold and drag a box) in Viewport 2.0, the viewport becomes a blank white screen and instead of drawing a box my mouse draws a single thick line. When I release the mouse, the viewport will not return to normal until I move the camera. It actually does perform the selection that I would expect. However, not being able to see what I'm doing is a bit of a pain sometimes.
The irony is that it actually works fine in default and high quality modes, but I'm not able to use those because the transparency sorting is really wonky and doesn't let me see what I'm trying to work on from the angles that I need. Only Viewport 2.0 solves that problem.
For selecting objects, I must have hit a buttom trying to figure something else out and now I can't select objects without touching them and clicking on them, I used to be able to pick whole sections.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm here with 2013 SP2 64 bit Build 200 and two screens. Left screen is graphics area, Browser is on the left of right screen. Graphics is ATI Fire Pro V7800 with driver 9.3.3.3000.
In video (zipped MP4) you see a cutout of both screens, think of screens changing at the left of the browser.
Now, in many cases, after doing an operation, the browser is jumping back to the middle of my graphics in the left screen.
I am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
In the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using the crop tool without any knowledge of the little boxes you can fill in to restrict its WxH dimensions. I always wanted my crops to come out at a 2:3 ratio and could never get them perfect since I was just eyeballing it.
So then I found the WxH controls and if I put "2 in" for width and "3 in" for height, my image will come out as desired, no scaling of the image, but with the unfortunate side effect that my DPI has been changed, which causes problems for me later on. Now if I put "2 in" x "3 in" and then specify 72dpi in the "resolution" field, it will actually scale my image which is not what I want either. Now if I put "2 px" by "3 px" of course it will massively scale my image, which again is not what I want.
What I want is to re-crop my image to a 2:3 ratio, WITHOUT scaling, AND without modifying DPI. Is this possible with the crop tool? It seems that my WxH numbers are required to have units after them and I don't want any of those units (inches, px, mm, etc). I want unitless cropping, basically cropping by ratio. Does this make any sense?
I have a work-around which involves batch resetting all my DPI's at the end of the session. But that adds another step to my workflow which is not a very elegant solution.
