Photoshop :: Saving Scanned Photos As Sequentially...
May 5, 2009
I'm scanning in page by page, without taking the photos out. (it's quick and dirty but works best for what I'm doing) Now I have templates set up in .psd for the differenrt sized pics, mostly 3x3 or 3.5 x 5, that I pull the scans into and touch up. Now I want to create an action that saves the photos as a .jpg, but when I do this it overwrites the previous .jpg. And I can't stop the action during the "save as" process. Any ideas what I can do here to streamline the process? I've tried searching, but couldn't find anyrthing specific to my perdicament.
In Photoshop CS 6, I noticed that some of the filters I use (Mostly The Cut Out Filter in the Artistic Folder) is not on the filter dropdown list anymore like it has been on other versions of Photoshop. I have to go to FILTER GALLERY  Then I go to ARTISTIC then I can see the Cut Out Filter.
Is there any way I can make the Artistic Folder, or any other Filter Folder in the Filter Gallery a part of the Filter dop down list? This would be be a little faster and save me a few clicks with the mouse. Â Question # 2. I have an EPSON 3490 Scanner and I scanned a document into PS 6 and it asks me to save it in a folder before I can open it up in Photoshop. Can I just Scan it in, and then decide where I want to save it? This was always the way in every other version of Photoshop. I really do not want to have 2 versions of the same picture on my computer. Â Question # 3 Why does it always save as a .jpeg when I scan using Photoshop? I would like to always save it as a .psd as it scans in to Photoshop.
removing the matte surface finish pattern from scanned photos, either B&W or color? I've been playing around with noise and blur, but without satisfactory results. Since matte surface finishes are so regular,
I am putting together a slideshow for my son's high school graduation and I've scanned lots of old photos (as JPEGs) into my computer. They are, of course, all different sizes and my question is what size or ratio do I use when I crop/resize them in Photoshop so that they will be uniform and the right size for a slide show?
I was using PSE6 and just installed PSE12. I work alot with pictures and the option in editor/image to divide multiple photos in one scan does not work. It is pale in print and does not have an arrow like the other choices.  I have a HP PC using Windows 7 and a scanner that worked just fine, Canon LIDE.
I scanned a number of photos and when I went into editor>image and the divide scanned photos was not an active choice. It was on the menu but I couldn't select it. I scanned a number of times to include setting the pictures at an angle just to be sure it could be detected. It used to work in PSE 9  I am using an HP office jet Pro 8600 premium. OS is windows 7
I have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.
I'm a professional artist so I need really good photos of my work for promo and gallery applications. My Brother gave me a really good Canon Scanner. He told me I should try and scan my paintings, laying them on the scanner one way then the other (from top bottom and then side to side). Once in the computer he said I should overlay them in photoshop (Elements 7) to minimize the glare from the brushstokes (It's oil paint). [URL]. It worked but it's really blurry.Â
I think Divide Scanned Photos feature is amazing! [URL] .... Â For those scans I put black construction paper in the rear, it works like a charm. Â However, my mom scanned multiple photos prior to us finding Elements and did not use a dark background. Â Is there any way to salvage this or is it too late? Â When we attempt to Divide Scanned Photos on a set of B&W photos with a white background, no luck. Â PSE11 just spits out a copy of the same photo.
I have tried this feature with mixed results. Scaning 2,3 or 4 pictures of different sizes, changing angles using an HP8600 Multifunction device. I have tried both scannig using HP software and directly with Elements at 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Elemets will sometime split off one of the pics but is not reliably sepatating them all. What ca I do to improve my results? I have a lot of pics to scan and really don't want to do them one at a time.
I just got a new computer. I had Photo Shop Elements on my old one. I appears that Gimp can do the same things for free. One thing Photo Shop Elements did was provide a way to scan as many photos as would fit on your scanner and then provide a way to separate them. Can Gimp do that? Sometimes I would need to use Elements to open a scanned photo. Would Gimp open a photo scanned on Elements?
I am trying to decide whether to buy Elements for my new Windows 8 or download Gimp.
retaining more of the resolution inherent in photo or scan imported into a video, to increase the sharpness when panning or zooming across it? eg - original photo of a map may be 8Mpix. Would it work to make a hi def clip of the zoom to insert in an SD project?
In X2 all I had to do was go to file- either 'twain acquire' or -'from scanner' and my scanner software would open in X2 and i could directly import the scan.
In X3 all the acquire choices are grayed out unless I first choose, file- new, and then a dialogue box for size options opens.Once I have a new (empty) file on the editor screen I can then acquire . Is this a new change in X3 ?
I have PaintShop Pro X3 and pretty much all the other programs. I scanned lots of photos (6*4) at a 300 dpi which works out at about 11 meg each photo (i think this was overkill!). However, when i created a slideshow these photos are shown as about one quarter sized. Is there any way i can correct this ? Should i for the future scan at a different dpi ? I want to view the images as a slideshow and am not interested in printing them.
I need a way to take images of a preset size and slice them up into seperate little image squares which are each saved with a sequential number starting with the first square (top left) but in a grid type pattern - so the first square would be saved as '1-1.jpg' and the one to the right of it would be '1-2.jpg' and the one to the right of that would be '1-3.jpg' etc. Then the next row would be like '2-1.jpg', '2-2.jpg', 2-3.jpg' etc. and so on.
Is there anyone who would possibly be able to help write an action to do this automatically?
I know it's a large request but I'm not so good with complex actions and don't know where to begin with this.
Please help if you can. The final 'diced' images are to be used in a website which is a college project of mine, I'm fine with building the website, I'm just not so good with actions and really don't want to have to slice a number images individually (I'm currently estimating there will be a large number of little squares per image - something in the region 300 or so...). If anyone can help I'll work out the exact figures and dimensions so it can be done.
There has been dicussion in the past about renaming and renumbering images ,sometimes other software was recommended.
Any way to do this in windows from XP and beyond. It may be a bit basic, but if you keep the same name for a batch of images you can easily number them sequentially, I have numbered over 900 images in a few seconds.
In XP- Select all the images you want numbered. Right click the 1st one and select rename Name the image and type a number you wish to start with in brackets ( )immediately after the nameClick on the 1st image and all your images will be numbered sequentially. If you want to use more images later in this way you can follow on with the next number to have a continuing sequence.
New to this forum but need some help. I have been working in CS2 for some time but have recently started having an issue with saving photos.
after doing any editing, when I go to save as, unless i actually type in .jpg (or whatever fromat i choose to save in) it does not save the photo in ANY format.
I'm using Windows 7x64 and have recently installed Lightroom 4.3. Initially worked well but after installing Photoshop CS6 I can no longer see images. The metadata and histograms are there but no images. What I see is a set of gray frames, one for each image in the imported group. Each frame is numbered sequentially, and the total gray frames is the same as the number of images in the imported file. Â Using the "Develop" mode I still see only a gray box, though the histogram is live, and as I move the cursor across the gray box it shows R, G, and B characteristics as if the photograph is visible.
I retouch my photos in PhotoShop and make photo merges but when I go back to them in bridge, no changes have been made. What do I have to do differently that what I have always done in the past?
I am having a problem saving photos after editing them in Photoshop. I had a similar problem in a previous photo-editor, so I realize this may not be Photoshop-specific but am hoping someone might have an answer.
I open a photo normally in Ps, edit it, and save it as a jpeg. Then if I go to reopen the file in Ps it tells me that it can't because it is the wrong file type.
In the file properties it shows the file type simply as 'file', and Vista displays it as a blank page icon. I am able to open the image in the default Windows image viewer.
The oddest part is that this seems to happen only to some photos, with others working problem-free I am completely at a loss on this one.
When I export a photo into photoshop and make my changes, as I save as a tif, it isnt automatically updated in lightroom, so I constantly have to sync the folder. Â My previous versions of LR (before 5), this would update automatically and as I would return to LR, the new file would be there. Â How can I change this?
Can autocad automatically create a sequentially numbered array. I do concert seating and am looking to create an array of seats and have them be numbered automatically as I create the array.
It seems like this should be easy but it's not. I have a block with multiple components. I want them to array sequentially as I drag the grip. First one component, then the next, then the next. What I get is all 3 at once when I drag the grip far enough. I tried 3 separate linear parameters with their grips stacked but that didnt work either. What I have attached is a very simplified version of what I want, but I think once I get the concept it will be easy to elaborate on.
Why are my photos not saving as JPEG files? When I select JPEG, they save in my folder as Photoshop files which I cannot email and most people cannot open on their computers.
I have macbook pro 15", early 2011, 10.8.4 mountain lion OSx, and my image viewer/ editor is iphoto 11, however iphoto is for normal beginner users (like me) and even the photo editing for adding filters/ cropping/ adjusting, nothing professional. but such work done in photoshop elements 11 and others. so I download it (PSE 11) and connect it as the editor with iphoto 11, but I faced problem while saving the photos back and I searched the net and saw video tutorial, and unfortunately so far nothing to save edited photos directly as JPEG to iphoto from PSE11.
I recently upgradedfrom "Elements 2" to Version 11. I previously saved all my edited work in JPEG format and to the "My Pictures" folder. I was then able to open all modified photos and share them with another computer without resorting to any specialised program. I wish to continue to do the same using Version 11. Having made several attempts without success to save modified photos using my well tried and successful method and having read the Manual to see why the process is not successful with Version 11 I am now exteremely frustrated. Each attempt to save a modified photo results in a Thumbnail icon being loaded into the "My Pictures" folder with the elements 11 logo. I then are only able to open the photo (which incidently does not carry the modified file name from the original) by way of the elements 11 program.Â
