Apr 12, 2008when I scan the photos, they are showing up with a pattern on them.
I can not get this pattern out unless I use a blur more filter several times, but that makes the photo extremely blured and useless..

May 5, 2009I'm scanning in page by page, without taking the photos out. (it's quick and dirty but works best for what I'm doing) Now I have templates set up in .psd for the differenrt sized pics, mostly 3x3 or 3.5 x 5, that I pull the scans into and touch up. Now I want to create an action that saves the photos as a .jpg, but when I do this it overwrites the previous .jpg. And I can't stop the action during the "save as" process. Any ideas what I can do here to streamline the process? I've tried searching, but couldn't find anyrthing specific to my perdicament.

Feb 25, 2013I scanned a number of photos and when I went into editor>image and the divide scanned photos was not an active choice. It was on the menu but I couldn't select it. I scanned a number of times to include setting the pictures at an angle just to be sure it could be detected. It used to work in PSE 9

Photoshop :: Artistic Filter Folder And Saving Scanned Photos?
Sep 27, 2012In Photoshop CS 6, I noticed that some of the filters I use (Mostly The Cut Out Filter in the Artistic Folder) is not on the filter dropdown list anymore like it has been on other versions of Photoshop. I have to go to FILTER GALLERY  Then I go to ARTISTIC then I can see the Cut Out Filter.
Is there any way I can make the Artistic Folder, or any other Filter Folder in the Filter Gallery a part of the Filter dop down list? This would be be a little faster and save me a few clicks with the mouse.

Question # 2. I have an EPSON 3490 Scanner and I scanned a document into PS 6 and it asks me to save it in a folder before I can open it up in Photoshop. Can I just Scan it in, and then decide where I want to save it? This was always the way in every other version of Photoshop. I really do not want to have 2 versions of the same picture on my computer.

Question # 3 Why does it always save as a .jpeg when I scan using Photoshop? I would like to always save it as a .psd as it scans in to Photoshop.

Jan 26, 2014I'm a professional artist so I need really good photos of my work for promo and gallery applications. My Brother gave me a really good Canon Scanner. He told me I should try and scan my paintings, laying them on the scanner one way then the other (from top bottom and then side to side). Once in the computer he said I should overlay them in photoshop (Elements 7) to minimize the glare from the brushstokes (It's oil paint). [URL]. It worked but it's really blurry.Â

For those scans I put black construction paper in the rear, it works like a charm.

PSE11 just spits out a copy of the same photo.

Dec 25, 2013I have tried this feature with mixed results. Scaning 2,3 or 4 pictures of different sizes, changing angles using an HP8600 Multifunction device. I have tried both scannig using HP software and directly with Elements at 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Elemets will sometime split off one of the pics but is not reliably sepatating them all. What ca I do to improve my results? I have a lot of pics to scan and really don't want to do them one at a time.

May 25, 2013I just got a new computer. I had Photo Shop Elements on my old one. I appears that Gimp can do the same things for free. One thing Photo Shop Elements did was provide a way to scan as many photos as would fit on your scanner and then provide a way to separate them. Can Gimp do that? Sometimes I would need to use Elements to open a scanned photo. Would Gimp open a photo scanned on Elements?
I am trying to decide whether to buy Elements for my new Windows 8 or download Gimp.

Sep 20, 2010In X2 all I had to do was go to file- either 'twain acquire' or -'from scanner' and my scanner software would open in X2 and i could directly import the scan.
In X3 all the acquire choices are grayed out unless I first choose, file- new, and then a dialogue box for size options opens.Once I have a new (empty) file on the editor screen I can then acquire . Is this a new change in X3 ?
Paint Shop Pro :: Scanned Photos Appear About One Quarter Size?
Aug 10, 2011I have PaintShop Pro X3 and pretty much all the other programs. I scanned lots of photos (6*4) at a 300 dpi which works out at about 11 meg each photo (i think this was overkill!). However, when i created a slideshow these photos are shown as about one quarter sized. Is there any way i can correct this ? Should i for the future scan at a different dpi ? I want to view the images as a slideshow and am not interested in printing them.

Jul 22, 2012I'm hoping I'm posting this on the right board, I'm still trying to learn where everything is at in this group.
I'm working on scanning some old mounted slides using a Canoscan 900F. I'm scanning them in as high resolution as I can and saving as .tiff. The file sizes are around 80 mb with dimensions in the vicinity of 6432x4352. I'm using Windows 7 and the scans looks good when I review them in the photo gallery, but when I open them in CS6 and look at the size, it's showing the actual size of the negative. I can change the view so I can see a bigger picture, but when I try to print it, it wants to print at the small size. I'm thinking I'm just missing something. How can I take the scanned slides and set them up so I can print larger prints. I would really like to do a couple as 8 x 10 for a Christmas present. What am I doing wrong?

Mar 27, 2006I scanned some hand-written text at very high resolution.
But when I scale it down and print it at high resolution it doesnt appear very sharp. On close inspection I can see slight jaggy anti-aliasing.
How can I make the edges of the text sharper?
I've enclosed a sample.
Also, sometimes I need to use the graphic keyed over another photo.
What is the best way to make it transparent, while still maintaing the sharp edges?
Is there anyway to turn the file into a vector file so I wont have these problems?
Photoshop :: Correcting Scanned Images
Oct 2, 2013After scanning a image that has a mostly white background, and opening it in Photoshop CC that portions of the edges had pinkish tones that was quite noticible. I tried to use the replace color from the "Image->adgustments" menu but found that affected small portions of the image as well.

I have a bunch of print-outs of old documents that came from a microfilm copy. I need to include them in a report, so I need to scan them in. I have tinkered with various settings (100 dpi - 300 dpi) and of course I would like to keep them small sized. At 300, one came in at 10 MB which is absurd.

My second problem is that part of the print-outs are really difficult to read--it's usually one section that has a lot of mid-tones. I can use levels and curves somewhat, but they seem to affect the whole document.
Photoshop :: Can't Import Scanned Images
Apr 16, 2012I recently migrated from Windowx XP (32 bit) to Windows 7 (64bit). On the xp computer, I installed the driver for my epson V500 photo scanner, and when go to File--> Import, there is an option to import via espon scanner. However, in Window 7, with Photoshop CS4 64 bit installed, the installed scanner does not show up on the import menu.
I don't know how to get it to see the scanner as it does on my XP machine. I tried copying the photoshop plugins/import-export folder from the xp machine to photoshop (64)/plugind/import-export folder, but that didn't make a difference.

Apr 27, 2009I'm currently an Art Major in school, and I've been studying examples from the Art Nouveau era. I've been sketching out symmetrical designs, scanning them and mirroring them on Photoshop.
All has gone well so far, however, I'm now trying to figure out how to clean it up and make it look "perfect". In terms of being perfect, I want it to look completely clean. I darkened the lines as much as I could and erased as much as I could, however, I've tried different things such as blurring, sharpening, and adjusting levels, but the lines still seem too jagged from the sketching. I'm wanting to smooth them out and make them look nice.
Here is my drawing:
and here is an example of what I would like it to look like(minus the completely filled in black part)
You see how crisp it is? No jagged edges, completely smooth and clean. This is what I want.

Jan 15, 2008my girlfriend's birthday is coming up, and I wanted to do something a little bit different. She's a great artist, and she's drawn a lot of pictures of us together. She's so busy though, that she never has time to finish the drawing completely, so she can't get around to coloring it. I was wondering if you guys could point in the right direction of how to color scanned black and white drawings?
