Photoshop :: Saving CS6 Animation As MPEG
Sep 27, 2012
I need to save my CS6 animation as an MPEG, but the only options i have are DPX, QT and H.264. Do I need to bring it into another program ? When i try to open the .mov in Imovie, the SHARE buttons are grayed out.

My HP had win 7 pro issues and then blew its motherboard so i replaced it. I reloaded Video Studio Pro X3 which worked fine until I tried to save the edited video as a mpeg-4 HD (to be converted into an AVI later). It starts saving and then shut downs informing me to contact Corel and give them the data dump to figure out what the problem is. of course, i can not contact Corel who directed me to this forum. I did download and install the critical update but the same error occurs.

How do I create an 16 color effect, when saving my gif animation (save for web and devices) it has an option to lower the number of colors from 256. I normally use the 8 or 16 colors as it gives a great effect to .gif images.
what you get is a Gothic type washed out effect, when you lower the number of colors, when saving a .gif . The overall aim is to have a .gif that starts at 16 colors and at the end turns into 256 colors. How can I achieve this effect.

I have been having a persistent problem with a project I am working on. The project is a 3d animation, the objects in which were made in Maya 2011. When I started animating things in 2012 it was all working fine, but then one day it stopped saving my edits on some files.
On these uneditable files the objects cannot be deleted, saying they are parented. If I move something, save, then reopen the object will be in its original position.
New files, all done the same way with 2012 on the same computers are editing fine, but I still need to adjust some things in these old ones. Is there a way I can unlock these scenes so I can edit them? It would be lovely if I didn't have to do those frames all over again.
When I save, no error messages come up. However loading the files gives the log quite a bit to say.
file -f -new;
// untitled //
commandPort -securityWarning -name commandportDefault;
$gv_operationMode = "Open"; pv_performAction "/Volumes/TOSHIBA EXT/fallentest2.mb" "Best Guess";
file -f -options "v=0" -typ "mayaBinary" -o "/Volumes/TOSHIBA EXT/fallentest2.mb";addRecentFile("/Volumes/TOSHIBA EXT/fallentest2.mb", "mayaBinary");
requires "Mayatomr" "2011.0m - 3.8.1.33 ";

But why is it that I can only seem to save an animation in Inventor Studio (2014) as a .wmv (or Windows Media File)? Shouldn't I have the options for saving it as other types such as an .avi or the like?
I could have sworn I was able to in past releases. I should be able to save it as such, so where oh where is the setting that is dictating this?
Note: This animation is a cross section, not a shaded, realistic type with lighting and camera details to worry about.

We're having issues saving and importing skin weights, and mirroring these weights on our character meshes because our characters have some geometry that has been combined into their mesh (like eyebrows, fake spikey hair, eyelashes, etc)
Maya seems to take the UV's for all the combined meshes and stack layer them into the 0-1 space in the UV editor. When we save skin weights for the main mesh, the weighting maps are all messed up and useless for importing because they are based on UV's that are supposed to be clean and dedicated only to the main mesh.
how to save weights and mirror weights for meshes like ours?

I'm working on a project where I need to duplicate all animated sequences for both a male and female character. I currently have two biped rigged characters. I animate one, save the .bip animation file and then load into the other. I check the boxes for "Load max Objects" as I have some objects (like a glass of water) set as an IK pivot object. It loads those into the new scene along with the new pose, but the pose goes wrong, thought just with the arms (which are incidentally the only parts that have a seperate object as an IK pivot object.)
Here's a screenshot to show what I mean:
This incorrect animation happens whether the .bip animation file I save is loaded into the other character or loaded into the same character in it's original T-pose.

I am using maya 2012 32bit on windows.
I've painstakingly oriented all the joints in my human ik skeleton and then saved the file out as a backup. When I reload the file and go to component mode to view the joint orientations they are all messed up again. I've gone through this process twice with the same results.

I was wondering if there was any quick way to save each animation frame right next to each other in one large png in Photoshop CS6? For example, lets say I have an animation which has 10 frames, each frame being 100px x 100px, I want to be able to save the first frame in the first 100 x 100 enclosure of my canvas, the next frame in the next 100px, and so on and so on for the rest of the frames, resulting in a png which is 100px x 1000px at finish, having the first frame at the very left, and the final frame at the very right.At the moment I'm moving each frame individually to the right by 100,200,300px however I need to do this for over 400 animations with varying dimensions, so it's a bit time consuming and I feel that I might lose track and enter a value wrong at some point. Any other program that might achieve this in which I'm able to import Photoshop animations that can also work.

The specs for PS CS3 Extended Edition says MPEG-2 is supported if an encoder is available. Is it possible to import MPEG-2 clips into PS? If so, how? What I want to do is move HDV clips from Premier Pro CS3 to PS Extended and do some corrections and then move back.

Just upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and am attempting (unsuccessfully) to edit some MGEG2 content. The video content has been extracted from Windows DVRMS files using DVRMStoMPEGGUI. I can work with H264 content in Photoshop without a problem.
All MGEP2 videos play fine with both Quicktime and Windows Media Player.Here is what happens when I try to edit the file in Photoshop
File is read by photoshop and all looks fine. First frame is shown as expected. If I try to play the video in photoshop, the elapsed time counters at the bottom give the impression that all is well, but the video does not play.Attempting to trim the video does update the overall timings of the video, but the first frame is still displayed.Rendering the video as H264 appears to work - the export dialog appears and a file does get created. The H264 file export is playable, but consists of the first frame displayed continually for the duration of the video..
editing MPEG-2 video content in Photoshop and another thread suggested checking that the video content is playable via Bridge. Like with Photoshop, Bridge displays the first frame of the MPEG2 in the thumbnail, but attempting to play it locks up Bridge completely. Doing a "Reset Settings" with Bridge made no difference.
Here is my setup
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1 20120808.r.519 2012/08/08:21:00:00) x64
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

I know there must be a thread or post about the best MPEG settings when you are going through the steps to burn a DVD, but did a search and came up with nothing.
Those items in bold are checked in X4.
In the MPEG properties
● Do not convert
● Support X-Disc
● Two pass conversion
● Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD compliant
● Auto fade
● Play all
● Auto repeat
Lower field first?
Under Change MPEG settings/Customize do any of you change anything? General Tab and Compression? I know to move the slider under compression to 100%. Not sure about the rest.

When I burned an AVI (that I captured with VS X4) to a single layer dvd VS does the job, except that when I palce the dvd in my living room Sony player I have the following error message : The disk is dirty. I tried twice with the same result! When I capture directly to the mpeg format and then burn a disk I have no problem.
How I could convert AVI to MPEG (no menu, no edition) in a simple way?

I am using VS X6 ultimate that I purchased yesterday
I am capturing videos from VHS tape using an S-Video connection
I have tried different capture options settings and the capture always saves in MPEG
I believe that AVI has the least loss and would prefer to save in the AVI format since I intend to do some editing of the original content The end objective will be to burn reults to DVD
Can VS X6 capture files in AVI? If so, what settimgs should I use? Any settings that would be best for this type of transfer to HDD?

I did a ton of research on Video Editing software and decided to try VS Pro X4 first due to it's ease of use (good for me) and capabilities that I can grow into. So far I would say the experience has been positive and feel I could happily settle in with VS Pro X4 for the long haul, but have just a couple of questions I would like to resolve first. They may not be issues at all, but more due to my lack of knowledge, but figured experienced users like yourselves would be able to determine that in short order.
I've split my questions into separate (3) threads so that people don't have to suffer through content they're not interested in. Here's a brief run down on where I'm at and what I'm trying to do.
I'm about half-way through my 30day trial of VS Pro X4, and starting to feel a little more comfortable with the software, but a few things are still puzzling me. Granted I've only scratched the surface of the SW capabilities so far.
I'm a complete newbie to this digital video stuff, however I'm not a complete newbie to computers. Basically I have a shoeobox of old 8mm camcorder tapes (analog) and have finally decided to take the plunge and digitize them, mainly because we never end up watching the tapes 'cause it's such a pain.
First question; A friend of mine is letting me borrow his ADVC300 converter, connected to a Firewire400 card in my PC. VS Pro X4 capture works fine, was able to capture an entire 8mm tape. It was an entire tape because that's the way it was taped, it was a music performance so the tape ran through the whole show. I was able to add a simple title and burn to a DVD disc. What should I expect for MPEG compression when burning to a DVD? I couldn't fit it all on one DVD disc, had to split it into two discs, not a big deal, just thought the mpeg conversion would have compressed it more? Maybe that's wishful thinking on my part? It's a 2 hour & 2minute video which equals a large ~8.7Gb raw DV capture file through the ADVC. I know a DVD is 4.7Gb max so obviously the 8.7Gb raw file won't fit, but is 2:1 compression/conversion expecting too much for the mpeg conversion? Maybe there's some options I should be using to compress it more?
All in all I'm pretty happy with the ADVC to digital capture functions with VSPx4 so far.

i have been having trouble with premiere pro, i am tasked with editing footage for a promotional video for a college. the footage was recorded on two seperate cameras, first was a JVC HM100, second is a Canon 1100D.
now we have most of our footage, and i have looked through it when i was on a mac, but then we i went home to do it at home on my PC running Windows 8.1 and Premiere Pro CC, i tried to import the JVC footage and it says the Codec is missing. but when i import the footage from the Canon, it works fine, so i have to right codec to play mov. but as far as i know, it is todo with the JVC recording with MPEG-2. now converting the footage works, but it is extremely time staking and i think it is reducing the qaulity a bit. i just want to know if there is another way for me to fix the file and import it into Premiere Pro CC. or a different conversion method. i am using handbrake currently as i know the programme and i can change a lot of quality settings. i have a lot of little files to convert, it isnt a case of a few big files, its over 30 little files, so i would like a working queueing feature if i convert file.
i can import MOV files that were filmed on a JVC camera but i can import files that were filmed on Canon camera, and i beleive it is todo with MPEG-2
System stuff:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit
Premiere Pro CC,
latest, i have some other adobe programs such as AE, PS, and AI, as well as media encoder(which doesnt accept the file either)
System Spec:
CPU: 4670k
MOBO: MSI G45 Z87 Gaming
Ram: G-Skill RipJaw 8Gb (2x4Gb) 1600Mhz
PSU: Corsair CX 600
GPU: GTX 760

Today I use a dvd maker freeware program...load this mpg file and it creates the dvd folder and I create the image from that. Total size is 4.2 and it reports using 94% of the dvd available space. Freeware program puts in extra screens advertisements so can't use it.
I attempt to use the share-create disc and import same mpg file and it reports in the bar that its 6.48GB. To me this is a problem and I can't understand why it reports it as 2.2GB larger than the actual file size. There is no menu its from a new project, nothing imported to the timeline, just open, create, import and my OS and every other program must be reporting it wrong.

I am having a difficult time Exporting my 640 X 360 Video In an Mpeg Format, I am making a YouTube Video in 640 X 360 ( 360P I believe the size is called ) only because that is what my source video size is. My original source video is " AVI - 30Fps " I have cut and fine tuned my 8 Second Video that took me 8+ hrs to figure out how to make
Under the Project Properties there are 2 format types available, MPEG and AVI. Under MPEG Project Options --> General, I have only 4 sizes to choose from in the frame size box, 720 x 480 - 704 X 480 - 352 X 480 - 352 X 240, And the user defined selection bullet is GREYED out.
Is it possible that because im using the trial version that I just cannot fully use the software, If so then I can go back and install my VideoStudio X4, I was hoping to Upgrade to X5 because I can directly import my Paint Shop Pro Layers as well as CorelDRAW too.

I have about 30 files with the extension .vsp. As it turns out, I can only convert two of them to .mpeg. I'm trying to figure out why that is by looking at every single detail I can to figure out why only two of them can convert but none of the other ones will be accepted. i just get an error message each and every time. I just moved from a Sony HDV (HDR-HC3) camcorder to a Panasonic AVCHD one (HC V700). When rendering my final video, I've always used MPEG-4 HD. This new camcorder records in AVCHD. I'm not sure if I should be outputting to MPEG-4 HD or AVCHD. Before I had issues rendering in AVCHD, which is why I didn't use it.
What's the main differences in MPEG-4 HD vs. AVCHD? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Which one is better and the one I should use?
