View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new computer and want to move the databse catalog over. I backed up in PSE 9 to an external hard drive. I connected to HD to the new computer and tried a resotre catalog. I chose "New Location" since I was going from XP to Windows 7 and was unsure if there would be a conflict with file locations. I also chose "Restore Original Floder Strucure". Very quickly I recieve an error message "Could not restor file .xml". I have run Restore Catalog several times and each time a DIFFERENT FILE receives the error message. I then disabled Norton Anti Virus Auto-Protect. I then disabled several programs running in the background. Same problem. I then copied the Backup Catalog to the new computer and tried to Restore it from there. Same Problem. I have now run a Repair Catalog on the original file. PSE states there is no error. I want to purchas PSE 11, but wanted to install/restore the database with the same version 9 first.

I've been messing about with the Magnetic Lasso tool and want to set it to its default settings. way to reset all tools to their defaults? PSCS2s help file only mentions resetting preferences (hold down ctrl/alt/shift when cs2 starts up and you will be given the option to reset ) but that did not work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis morning, I opened CS6 and noticed that Open Recent was grayed out. So I opened my most recent from Bridge and found almost all my settings had reverted to default, except for Menu and Keyboard Shortcuts. Workspace still had the correct name.
I have CS6 Prefs saved on the desktop but I chose to rest most by hand to see if anything might foul up. It didn't so I renamed the final settings to a different workspace. In so doing, I lost my keyboard shortcuts so I had to reset those as well. Of course, I realize that I didn't have to do all that, I could have simply substituted the saved .psp, but since this revert was not as a result of my resetting prefs manually, I wanted to see what if anything might be wrong and perhaps interfere with manual settings.
The strangest behavior showed up when I went to reboot the computer then open PS. It took a very long time for PS to open, and during that time a blue square would flash on screen behind the PS Loading Icon, which is something I have not seen before.

Examination of Events showed no problems other than an inability to run backup today because the Backup HD was unavailable. It may have been trying to do so while I opened PS as I note several attempts to do so in Events log.
Whenever I start up CS3 it says a bunch of defaults are missing, such as font, key shortcuts, etc. Also, whenever I use the Type key, and I highlight a area to put some type in, my program just closes down.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to open a bunch of EPS files and when the dialog box pops up, the default is CMYK and 72 DPI. So I have to manually type in 200dpi and change CMYK to RGB. I would like it to default at 200DPI and RGB so that I can avoid the aduous task of changing these every time. I never had an issue with this in previous versions of PS - which seemed to remeber what I wanted - but with CS4, it aint sticking. How can I make this the preference?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop CS3 and Windows XP. I used to crop pfds and the resolution stayed at the normal 72 default. Now when I crop the image shrinks very small and when I check in image size the resolution goes to 9999. But in preferences the resolution is still 72.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a burning question. In CS4, when I use the Image Size command, the default units are centimetres instead of inches under Document Size part of the dialog box.
I know that keeping rulers set to inches will change that default, but I distinctly remember the time when I was able to keep my rulers set to pixels, and my Image Size to inches at the same time.
Something changed at some point and I can't figure out what. How can I keep my rulers set as pixels, but the Image Size dialog box to inches at all times?

I have photoshop CS installed on a G5. Photoshop was working fine, but now some of the default keyboard shortcuts are missing. The one I miss the most is (command, option ~) which should load a luminosity selection. But for some reason no longer works. I've tried reinstalling photoshop. I've tried reloading the keyboard shortcut defaults again. Maybe there is something wrong with my default shortcuts file? but I haven't been able to locate a source where I can download another. In any case i would have thought that the reinstalling the CS creative suite would have resolved the issue if the file was bad.
How do I check my keyboard driver? where is it? wher do i get another?
I’m trying to install PSE 11 from a downloaded < Adobe_PE11_T1.zip >. Preferring a “clean” installation, first I uninstalled PSE 10 (Windows7 Control Panel / Programs); however, PSE 10’s program folder did not delete. So, I deleted it manually, then ran Adobe’s <adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool>, and selected “All.”
Now, unzipping and installing PSE 11 causes the installer to default consistently to "uninstall." I’ve performed cold boots between each step, and repeated the entire process with identical results. How do I "reset" Adobe for a clean installation?
I have PSE 10. My OS is Windows 7. My printer is a Canon MG6120. The default print tray selected for the computer and all programs is the Cassette. It was selected under Devices and Printers (path: Control PanelHardware and SoundDevices and Printers). All my programs accept the cassette as the default paper source or Tray, except for PSE 10.
In all other programs, I manually change the Paper Source for rear tray selection through the Printer Properties dialogue window. However, the paper source for my PSE 10, after manually changing from Tray: Rear Tray to Tray: Cassette, resets back to Tray: Rear Tray after printing and even after using the Change Settings and Advanced Settings dialogue windows. see the image insert.
I generally print on bond paper. The rear tray is normally closed. If I'm want to print on photo paper, I open the rear tray and insert the photo paper. I verify that I have the printer set to use the rear tray. After printing on photo paper (from any program) I reset the paper source back to cassette.
My questions are, "How do I correct or override PSE 10's automatic resetting of the paper source to the Rear Tray. How do I convince PSE 10 to accept the front-loading cassette as the default paper source?"
PSE10 also insists on reverting to Landscpe orientation. Please see the image insert.
My questions are, "How do I correct or override PSE 10's automatic resetting of the paper Orientation to Landscape. How do I convince PSE 10 to accept Portrait as the default orientation?"
When I select a color for text and shapes, the software defaults to shades of gray, although black and white are available. I use the eyedropper to select red on the pallette, for example, and the red box is framed. But the color sample on both the menu bar and the tool bar sets to gray. Is there a swicth somewhere that inhibits red, green, blue, etc.?
I even reinstalled the program, thinking I had a glitch--no change. The color selection had always worked in the past.
I am using Linux version 2.8.0.
I have screwed up my settings and would like to get back to defaults.
This morning line width in the Object Properties flyout were in points. This afternoon they are in mm. Where I can change it back to Points.
I've had this happen before and I understand it is probably something I'm doing but it is frustrating that these options are not obvious.
Question #2 - Is there some way to reset all possible settings/options/configurations back to the original defaults? I'd like to go back to the way things were when I first installed X3.
I am currently using Autodesk Inventor 2013, but I noticed this same issue back when I used 2011 as well.
I created custom borders and title blocks for work, and have gotten those to a default template that I can open as a new IDW file on command, but the XML files used for that IDW are still linked to the default files located in the design data folder.
I have saved my company's custom settings such as line weights, dimensioning defaults, tables, etc. as a STYXML file, and have resorted to simply importing my company's defaults whenever I create a new IDW file, but I was wondering if and how to "re-link" the IDW file that I open to use my company's default settings instead of Inventor's default settings and then needing to import the STYXML every time.
In Illustrator you can set inches for the units by doing the following:
Go under "Illustrator Menu"
Select "Units " under "Preferences" menu item
Set "Stroke" to inches
Set "Type" to inches
How can I make a startup script so those values are set to inches for "Stroke" and "Type"?? So when a student makes a new document its already set to inches.
For Indesign I did the following with Applescript:
tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"
tell view preferences
set ruler origin to page origin
set horizontal measurement units to inches
set vertical measurement units to inches
end tell
end tell
Can't get it scripted for Illustrator to default to inches. how I would go about scripting this?
tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
tell startup presets
set ruler units to inches
end tell
end tell
I'm new to lightroom and heres what happened.
I edited a batch of photos, exported them and .xmp files were created in Lightroom Export folder.
Later copied the .xmp files out of the Export and and pasted them into the main folder of the cr2 files.
When I opened LR again, there was a prompt and I messed with it. The result now is that the developed settings are the defaults instead of the unedited/tweaked photos.
I'm having problems printing from Lightroom. I'm printing on a Kodak ESP C315 with Epson (not Kodak) premium quality paper. As per Kodak's instructions, I turned advanced dot placement mode off. The problem is - even after I've done this and set it as a default in the printer control panel (I'm using Windows 7 pro, by the way), Lightroom insists on turning it back on. Because I can print using the same settings perfectly happily from Photoshop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDue to system problems, the Corel X3 package had to be reinstalled. I was not there, but noticed afterwards that everything had been set back to the original default settings in the various applications. In particular, Paint now shows everything in inches, when what I need is pixels to match things up on the company website, my primary job. So, I've been manually setting resamplings, etc., to pixels, instance by instance. I find nothing anywhere in the help system that even recognizes the term "default." How to set the defaults?

It appears that every time I launch painting creator, everything is reset and I have to select the pencil and change the size. Second, my biggest issue is that when I draw something, I would like it to stay on the screen for a few seconds once the drawing has finished. It seems to disappear immediately the drawing finishes.

I am using Coreldraw X5 and experiencing the following problems.
After writing text and clicking the Pick Tool, the text is instantly 'emboldened'. the only way I can correct this is to select No Outline. Why does this happen?
I can get round this using this procedure: With nothing selected.
From the Outline Pen tool - select No Outline - and tick the Artistic and Paragraph text boxes. And then from the Tools, Options menu, selecting Save Settings as Default and also Tools, Options, Documents, Save Options as Default for New Documents.
The best that happens is that setting the defaults in this way works for that current page. If I open a new page the problem is back.
The above also occurs with text point size, every new page offers Ariel 10 point, I can change this using the above procedure but it is also not permanent. I would be interested in why setting defaults has no affect, and a permanent solution. I have also restarted the computer after 'setting the defaults' to no avail.
