I am changing the size of a bunch of photos from 72 ppi to 300 ppi (for printing in a book). When I change the resolution to 300 ppi, the width and height and file size shoot up of course. I want to keep the high quality - but should I untick the resampling box, or do it with the resampling box ticked - then reduce the size?
View 1 RepliesI have created a Photoshop image to print on a 8.5 x 11 inch canvas size (letter paper) and have scaled the document inside the canvas with 1/4 inches on all sides of the image. However shows that the image is over and above the allowable printable area for a letter size page.
I have to resize the image for printing to get the entire image in the letter size page. Problem is, the image gets off center once resized for printing.
Is there any set margins in photoshop or by the printer to require a border ? margins ? i am stumped as the image is within the 8.5x11" canvas size, but shows the image as larger (oustside the printable area) on the print preview....thinking there is some unwritten safety margins on the letter document i have missed.

Otherwise here it is.: Yesterday i went to my lokal photo/printing store asking them to print some 15x20 cm!! pictures with a white frame - probably !/2 cm in each side.
Im shooting with a d20 canon(just purchased it) wich has a crop factor. Thats why he told me to go home and resize my pictures(make 2:3 ratio) to actually fit a 15x20 cm. But as i see it 15x20 isent a 2:3 ratio - but 15x22,5 is!! Thats why im confused about in wich size i should deliver my pictures for printing. And further more if it is me who should make room for the white frame.
Is there a correct way to size pictures for printing. This is what I have done.My camera is set of 6 meg’s which gives me a huge original. I want to take this and print on a 4x6.I bring up the picture, select print > click on “scale to fit media. This gives me the size of5.333 X 4. I go back to the picture select: Image>Image Size. Under Document size I enter 5.333 in the Width.

During the Export to Mpeg2 for Blu-ray the photos end up with black lines on the sides of the photos on the TV. I've changed the export setting from "match Source Attributes" "HD1080i 29.97 (1.33par)" and "HD1080i" How do I get a correct preview in Premiere to reflect an actual HD TV output?

My problem is that the photos do not "fill the screen:" which I am sure is due to the photos being different sizes to start with. I edit the photos with Corel PSP.
Is there a way to establish the optimum size in the VS project and then resize the photos in PSP for a consistent look in the slide show?
How can I get photos to print centered on photo paper when using borders? I always end up with a large area on either the right or the bottom, no matter what I do. They print this way even if they show fine in Preview.

Therefore I need to know about resizing , however, I have spent weeks , reading and watching videos about this , and they all speak the same editing language without being specifically about what is needed, I mean the rules to follow etc and process that is involved.
For example,of this, resolution and pixel ,dots per inch,they all mention of the name of them, and mention "put photos in a number of of 200 ppi," without given any detailed explanation about why this is so!, when there are so many other numbers from the same category. In order to resize a photo there is needs to be more specific information that is needed about it when photo editing is involved, 'custom' resize photos.
I have CS4 and have battled with this issue for a long time now. I am so tired of it. Before I throw out my Epson Pro Stylus 3800 and PS4 software I thought I would ask one more time. I calibrate my monitor, I have taken photoshop classes, been on webinars for calibrating my monitor, etc. And no matter what I do, my photos print several shades darker than what I see on my monitor. I use no color adjustment in my ps print settings as well as my printer settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have CS5. The photos coming out of the camera are 300 dpi and approx 12.8" x 19.2". When I crop the photo to 300 dpi and 8x10 and send it to print, the printer says the photo is too small. It comes across as 72 dip and 8.333" x 6.667". I was expecting photos to come out of the camera with 72 dpi and a huge length x width. I can then crop and print without issue. Is there a photoshop setting that needs to be set? Is there a different work flow I need to use? I shoot with a 5D Mark III.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi am having problems moving an edited photograph to a new document for printing. I get a screen stating 'The target document has a different depth than the source document. This may result in lower than expected quality.
if i try to print from the edited photograph without moving it onto a new document it doesnt fit onto an A4 paper and comes up with 'Specifit print settings (Interpolation, Calibration,Encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non post-script printer.

The clerk said it was because of the format of digital cameras. My question is, is there a way to fix that with photoshop so I don't loose part of the top and bottom of my pics? Do you guys have the same trouble with your digital images?

I am working on some photos for my mum for mothers day in a couple of weeks and have 2 ideas the first is some photos she took up the Whanganui river I want to edit them all like so ( with different NZ iconic images in each one there will be four in total ) and then print them out and put them in a frame I will be using a shop service for this as I do not have a working printer.and the other idea is the same thing but for her cats like so.

I want to process some photos for printing(i.e the paper used for printing family and social photos; I believe you understand what I mean?). please, what dpi or ppi do I use on gimp? Btw,what do photographers call such a paper?

I have my user presets for exporting photos set to W3600 x H2395 when I want to print 12x8, but both 12x8 photos and photobooks come back with the image cropped. Is there a dimension setting I should use to avoid this problem? I have a Nikon D700 if that is relevant.

Previously I had Lr 5 running on my PC with Windows 7 and I was able to use the same HP printer to print both from the main tray and photo tray. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am planning to get some photos printed on vinyl wallpaper. The physical dimensions of the wall paper will be 1300mm x 2500mm and as I am ordering it online, there is an upload restriction of 8MB (file formats allowed are .pdf .jpg and .zip).
I would like to collage multiple images to create my wallpaper and plan to resize and edit each image before collating them in one large image. Then I will resize that image to be the final one (if that makes sense).
What I want to know is, is there any simple way to work out what my final image's pixel width and height will need to be to fit the 8MB restriction? I have no idea what the printing dpi is, the website only indicates that images should be 'at least 4MB for good quality'...which means nothing.
Ideally I would like to work with a starting image with 4x or 16x the pixels so it resizes nicely...I just don't know where to start.
I'm using Illustrator CS6. When I save a pdf file and try to print photos become a garbled mess (as if data was lost) and png logos and rotated photos display white boxes around them. Which setting should I change to fix this issue?

When I go and check the image size, it is 3.52" x 2.51", for instance. I've never encountered this before (using Photoshop 12 years now), and don't know how to fix this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a digital scrapbook designer and I, and several fellow designers, have just started experiencing some odd behavior in CS. It is occuring on both Mac and PC platforms and in versions of CS3 through 5.
We create 12 x 12 in (3600 x 3600 px) 300 dpi documents used by our customers as "backgrounds" for digital scrapbooking kits. We save the documents as jpg's Basline Standard, anywhere from 8-12. Sometimes, if we open a saved jpg and place (drag) it onto a new 12 x 12 document, we notice that the saved file is just a bit and sometimes as much as an 8th of an inch smaller than the new document, even though they are both 12 x 12, 300 dpi. Additionally sometimes when we drag the saved files from Finder or Windows Explorer to a new document while holding the shfit key to center placement, we're still off by that same 8th of an inch. Sometimes, if we align the horizontonal and vertical, the same jpg will be perfectly aligned and no longer too small for the 12 x 12 document and sometimes you can very clearly see the edges of the layer beneath.
This issue is driving us nuts because it just started happening recently and our customers, who very often have their finished scrapbook pages printed, have also started noticing. I don't have a clue where start trouble-shooting this.
