Photoshop :: Randomly Crashes When Like Size Or Use Brush
Jul 24, 2013
i have photoshop cc and it will crash randomly when i like resize or use brush tool. My drivers are up to date and i fresh installed windows 7 64bit. My GPU is a AMD Radeon HD 6800 series and photoshop doesnt reconise my GPU URL....and i used event viewer and this is what i have Faulting application name:

Photoshop Elements. Increasing brush-size crashes Windows 8 when HDMI cable connected to TV or data projector. I'm using Asus N56V notebook with Nvidia 635M dedicated graphics card with latest driver.
this with your installation of Photoshop CS6 or CC? I've seen this happen in both versions. Here's the issue:
Typically, the problem occurs when creating or modifying a layer style in the layer styles dialog. After assigning some style (drop shadow, stroke, glow, etc.) I occasionally mis-click my mouse prior to selecting the OK button to approve the chosen settings. Photoshop Online Help will suddenly launch in my web browser. It will open a single window or multiple windows randomly, all with the same Photoshop Online Help page loaded (one time it opened more than ten instances in separate windows).
At this point, Photoshop will typically stop responding, then crash and close altogether, BUT NOT ALWAYS. Sometimes I can continue working. Overall this activity seems to create instability in PS and I'll have to relaunch. Sometimes I'll go for several weeks without an occurrance. Other times it occurs several times in a week or even a day. I currently use PS CC.
Accidental mouse clicks aren't exactly the easiest thing to troubleshoot, but I can't fathom why that would launch online help or create instability. As much as I have tried, I'm unable to duplicate it manually. Left click, right click, all over the screen while in the layer styles dialog, and I can't make it happen.
It's not something new that just showed up when I installed CC either. This issue presents itself randomly on several different machines using PS CS6 and PS CC. and has been ongoing for several years now. Been using Master Collection for years and a Photoshop user since 1997. I have tons of memory, tons of scratch disk space, and employ contemporary and FAST processors on all my systems, NO OVERCLOCKING. Everything else is always very stable on all machines.
When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:
Unhandled exception at 0x5442B60E (ig7icd32.dll) in Photoshop.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000002C.
I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?
EDIT:Also, when launching Photoshop, I get this message:
Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.
Graphics hardware enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences. For more information, visit:[URL]...All my drivers are fully updated, and all Windows updates are installed. No other applications have any problems with my graphics hardware.
Essentially when I draw a line in any drawing program, I am unable to produce clean smooth lines. I primarily use photoshop. All lines that are created have a jitteryness to them. I've uploaded two pictures one featuring when I have the issue and the other where I do not have the issue. It happens randomly and different things seem to fix it.
There are times where re downloading the driver works or sometimes making a backup of the driver and doing a restore works as well. There are even times where simply restarting the program that I'm using will fix the issue, but it always seems to come back no matter what.
At one point thought that maybe my video card drivers were all out of date but that's not the case. Originally the issue was happening on my tablet pc, so I thought that it was only related to that computer but then noted that it also was happening on my desktop as well when using my intuos!
I just finished 'updating' my VBA code developed over the last 10 years from 'VBA 6' to 'VBA 7'. When i view the code in the IDE of AutoCAD 2014, everything shows up fine -- no errors. All of the references i need do exist:
Visual Basic for Applications AutoCAD 2014 Type Library Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library Microsoft Scripting Runtime OLE Automation Microsoft Shell Controls and Automation AutoCAD/ObjectDBX 19.0 Type Library Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 6.1(or 2.7 or 2.8)
When i goto Debug-> Compile, it 'compiles' without errors. But when i go to run it, it will crash. If i put in a breakpoint, and step through it, i can identify a subroutine that it crashes on. But if i do it again and step INTO that sub, it runs fine. If i have the code just continue on, it will crash somewhere else. Basically for the most part, if i run a macro and have a breakpoint right away, i can put my stapler on the F8 key and just sit back and watch it run (although a 10 second process turns into about half an hour) -- it gets much further along but will still eventually crash.
By the way, the same basic code runs fine on 32bit AutoCAD 2012 (with the appropriate references changes as well as no 'PtrSafe' or LongLong or LongPtr usages)
I have run Revit 2012 on this computer without any issues, but recently switched to Revit LT 2013 and have been having a tremendous amount of problems with it crashing. I am working on a quad core i7 laptop with 32 gb of ram and a Nvidia GeForce video card with 4gb of ram. The operating system is Window & 64 bit.
When I initially installed 2013 it would randomly crash on close. The file was always saved even if I didn't save before close and let it save through the closing process. It would send a report to Autodesk, but this was an error that I could honestly live with since it didn't cause problems while I was working.
On rare occasions it would crash while I was working in the program. No warnings, and no report to Autodesk, it would just close and not save what I had been working on. Becoming a bigger fan of constantly saving.
It also crashed when I was working in the file manager either opening, doing a save as, etc. I narrowed this arrow down to clicking on a folder with the right mouse button (hoping to rename the folder). The easy fix was to stop doing that. However, recently it seems to have begun to crash far more often, many times at ten to fifteen minute intervals. Some of the occasions it occurs at are:
-trying to change the end location or arc of a leader -editing the boundary of a fill region (when launching the trim command) -using the paste command to copy line work from one detail to another.
Each time it will crash it will come up with the window that the program has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution. Eventually windows closes the program.
I have tried turning off the 3d acceleration in Revit and that had disasterous results. Revit would load but immediately when loading a file and trying to display the image/drawing.
I am currently working on a texture for a turtle that will be used on a model in 3ds Max. I am a moderate to expert level user of Photoshop, in my own opinion, but still have much to learn.
My question today is this. Is there a way to create an image and then use the brush to recreate it randomly over and over again on a canvas? This question is in regards to the scales I am making for the turtle texture. The brush has a whole slew of tools for changing the size, orientation, and scattering of the brush so I was wondering if it is possible to use my scale image with it somehow?
I have attempted to use the pattern stamp tool but it spaces them so far apart and there is no control like you get with the brush tool.
I am encountering an issue with my copy of Adobe CS6 Photoshop Extended which results in a random increase in the size of text when I try to adjust the size value.
whenever I drag-click the cursor to change the text size value, the input option randomly increases by an also random number of millimeters, suddenly blowing up the size of the text. It then allows me to drag-resize from that increased value. However, when I get to the value I want and release the drag-click it randomly increases the values again thus increasing the size much beyond what I had specified (again increasing the size!!). I am running Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended (ver. 13.0.5 x64) on an Early 2011 Macbook Pro i7 2.0GHz with 16GBs of RAM. The issue happens on both the built-in trackpad and my Wacom Tablet.
I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).
Is it possible to generate a group of shapes with different size randomly in corelDraw macro? For example I want to generate 100 squares with different size and distribute them into the sheet automatically.
I'm using a tablet with gimp and I want to be able to set the brush size for the paint brush and also for the eraser, separately. What happens now is that I'll set the paintbrush size to 10px, paint for a little while, turn the pen over to erase and the eraser will now be at 10px. So I'll adjust the eraser size to something like 50px, erase, turn over, and now the paintbrush is at 50px. Grrrrrrr... I tried creating new brushes for both the paintbrush and the eraser, but there's no brush size option. This is my first time using gimp so I'm probably missing something.
for some reason when I change brush size by the pallette or the [ keys I only see the cross hairs with a dot in the middle. I've tried ctrl, alt shift to reinsate all settings but still do not see a visual representation of the brush size.
When I make the brush size for any tool bigger part of it will disappear. Only the small brush sizes are shown as complete circles. This happens with all tools that use a brush size. If I make the brush bigger or zoom into the document only a small part of the brush size will be visible. This part of the brush is placed inside a square. The edge of this square cuts the cursor off at the bottom and right.
If I move something with the move tool and it's a bit fast, the same square size will pop up, dividing the object into squares.
The first one makes it impossible to work in Photoshop since I can't use big brushes (with either pencil, brush, erasor): I can not see the cursor when the brush is big or if the document is zoomed in. If the document size is 100% and the brush is big the same thing happens.
Working on a brand new workstation. XP 2002 SP3. Intel Quad corre Q9550 @2.83 Ghz. I.98 Ghz 2.98 GB RAM. Graphics card NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700. Extra hard drive 1 Tb.
When I use a brush for anything and I want to increase or decrease the size by using the bracket keys the brush will not increase as large as it did in CS3 and part of the circle disappears leaving a half circle at best. Is this due to some plug-ins that I have from NIK or FixerLabs?
How do I make cursor size the same as paint brush size in CS6? It isn't and it makes selecting more difficult. Preferences>cursor does not seem to fix.
I'm using Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom cintiq, and the brush size is stuck at 1 px, it won't change size no matter what -even if the brush size is set to 1000 px, the brush will paint a scraggly thin line...
I've changed brushes/ opacity/ flow/ pen pressure/ restarted photoshop/ restarted computer/ shut down, etc. It doesn't changeIt works just fine in the mixer brush tool, but not the regular brush tool..
I have my preferences set up for my cursor to show as brush size, but suddenly my brush shows up as a tiny dot no matter what size I change it to (I've gone all the way up to 5000 pixels with no effect when using the brush, healing brush, and clone tools). My image is 1402x996 pixels at 200ppi. I've tried zooming in with no effect. I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't think what.
I was practicing using the Elements 10 Spot Healing Brush, and it was working fine. I closed out of Photoshop so I could go view some more tutorials. When I opened it again, I was unable to see the physical size of my brush..in Spot Healing or in Clone. It registered as a number in the upper bar, but I could not see the brush size as before. I had been using the brackets to raise and lower the size before I lost the ability to view the physical size.
When you select a certain size brush say 150 pixels and you paint it only paints a size of about 120 pixels. What adjustments are there so you paint exactly the same size as the brush indicator. I am running Photoshop CC on Mac OSX 10.6.8
In CS 3 suddenly i cant change the size of my brushes anymore. Well i can from very tiny -when you only see a cross- to about 45 pixels (with a default brush) when i use the slider it can show 2500 pixels but its still the 45 pixels from before. I dont understand, everything worked fine, i was working already abour 45 minutes without any problems, and suddely this happens....can anyone tell me what could be wrong or what to do about this?
