I am trying to rotate the stroke on an end point of a line that I've drawn. Is there a way to do this while keeping the line in tact?
Before:
Desired Effect:
Notice the top point on this line. I've faked the rotation that I'm talking about. Is this possible to do without destroying the line, adding a white element above it to look like I cut if off, etc.?

I am trying to sweep a line of pixels around an axis point in Photoshop (or Illustrator) to create a circle or multiple circles from the line of pixels. I have to use the line of pixels as it is a slice of an original image to capture a color swatch. I have not used Photoshop in close to 10 years and I cannot for the life of me figure out how I used to do it or if I did for that matter? I thought I used to, whilst I had the line of Pixels selected use the Transform>Rotate option then Adjust the pivot point.
Then I manually rotated it once whilst copying (Which I can no longer work out how to do) and just continue with cmd D or whatever the "do again" shortcut was?

I create a new layer and fill it with black. Then I make a new layer and make a marquee selection. Within the marquee selection, I fill the new layer with a color to transparent gradient fill. I then take the new gradient layer and warp it using the "FLAG" preset.
I adjust the bend to 20% and commit the warp/transformation. I get the curve I want, but right in the middle of the curve, running straight up the layer, is a solid line of pixels. It's almost as if, that one little line missed out on both the gradient itself as well as the warp effect.

I'm using Photoshop 7.0 (Windows XP) and I notice that when I stroke type, the actual stroke itself is rounded on the corners of the type even when the type has a right-angled corner.

I create a layer and draw a path, and stroke it. But when I change the path, the stroke seems to be rasterized or so, because it remains with its old shape, and does not follow the path. I have never had this problem before, so I assume I must have changed involuntarily any setting - which rasterizes the stroke. Which setting of the path is it?

If I am constantly making frames in photoshop for use in the video world (ie. They will be on TV) the pixels need to be rectangular (or 4x3) in aspect and not square.
I know in programs like After Effects and Combustion you can set when saving an image whether or not it is square or rectangular pixels.
How do I do this in Photoshop if it can be done?

2 days on GIMP. I need to adjust the clone tool so it's 1080 pixels vertical and about 20 pixels wide. I googled and searched, but I can't seem to find the right phrasing.

I have several layers in an image, and I need to align them precisely. The ordinary layer shift ("move pixels") by multiples of pixels is not sufficient. Is there a tool or plugin for PDN that allows sub-pixel shifts (i.e. moves by fractions of pixel)? And rotations by very small angles?

I'm laying-out a white-only T-Shirt logo (to go on a dark-green T-shirt)
For the sake of simplicity, let's say I have two ovals with no fill, just a white stroke. A small oval overlapping (on-top-of) part of the edge of a larger (underneath) oval.
how to 'hide' the line that's 'behind' the top object? [URL]

I'm on a Mac running Snow Leopard: Using either Illustrator CS5 or CC: when creating a shape with a stroke, using the variable line width tool (which I love!), saving the file. When I re-open the file the stroke has become a shape itself, with many points, and the fill has become a shape with no stroke!?

I want to trim/cut away part of a stroked square...But it is not doing what I intend...
Please see my images:
What I am trying to achieve is that the the part (lat image) of the left square that you see slanted, should be cut away, so that the cut on the right be inline(45deg_) with the cut on the left...
I tried all the different cutting/trimming techniques but nothing does what I want..

I want to blend two similar paths. Both paths have dashed lines as strokes, and both dashed lines go from big to small dot, in decreasing direction. I want to blend both paths, so the blend goes from big to small, in BOTH directions. The ideal ending image would show the biggest dot at the top left corner, and the smallest, at the down right corner (the final project involves two spirals, but for the sake of simplicity, I attach two straight lines).
I try to blend them, and the blend only goes in one direction, as seen in the attached samples (in the sample, it goes from top to bottom, but it doesn't go from left to right). It seems that Illustrator takes only the first dot size, and applies it as if all the path has the same dot size.

I cannot attain pixel perfect stroked rounded corners without a stray pixel being shown on one of the corners. I need pixel accuracy for UI I'm developing (i.e. for screen, not for print). Here's what I'm doing:
1) New document, Align New Objects To Pixel Grid. Document units are in pixels, and Preferences>Units all are set to pixels.
2) Create grey rectangle, something like 100x32
3) Set a 1px black stroke, outside
4) Apply Rounded Corners, 6px radius
5) Make sure you're in Pixel Preview Mode
6) Notice the one stray pixel in the bottom corner that is out of place at the edge of the round.
Here is a screenshot that shows my tests. Note if I use Center Stroke, it seems to work at first glance, but then applying other effects (e.g. 3 px inner glow) are incorrectly applied (due to pixel snapping of the centered stroke).

I have a logo where I'm having trouble erasing some overlapping shapes? I'm using Illustrator CS5.
This is part of the logo: [URL]. I need to erase the white part of the hexagon that's showing through the cog and circle shapes, and I need to erase the part of the green cog that's showing through the circle. The problem is that the cog and hexagon have been made using strokes, so every time I try and use the pathfinder tool the cog inverts itself and I get odd results like this: [URL].

The Recolor Artwork dialog does not replace the color of objects filled or stroked with pure black, either CMYK or RGB. (Yes, with the Recolor Art checkbox selected.) The dialog will replace any other color, but not black. Not even a manually created rich black. Manually selecting another color from the Color or Swatches panel does change the object's fill or stroke.
This happens with both CS6 and CS5 under Windows 7 x64. I reported it as a bug on the prerelease site. Also not sure if bug reports are still being read for the released version.

I've done a lot of web design with photoshop. Often times it's best to make a large picture and then cut it up into smaller pieces to fit the spreadsheet layout of an html page, but I've always found it very time consuming. I basically have to make rectangle marquees until I get the correct dimensions, usually making a conservative estimate, then zooming in to slowly count the pixels needed. Is there a way to type in a pixel number to automatically select to that point?

Is there a way other than knowing the width and height, a way to know exacly how many pixels are in a selection? or even how many pixels of a certain color are in a selection? if there isnt, does anyone know a program that can do this?

I work for a small magazine and were running a feature on old school games, my question is this. The foreground is going to have a screen shot of lets say Super Mario Brothers. How can I enlarge the foreground image so that the pixels stay blocky and nothing gets smoothed out. The only work around I have for the mean time is using transform and screen capturing the transform before it smooths out the pixels again.

I'm having problems with the magic wand tool. I try selecting an area which works fine but when I try to subtract an area from it I get this message: "Warning: No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visible." I googled this and came up with a few solutions but none worked. The most common solution was to reduce feathering to zero. When I tried to do that I got the message: "A number between 0.2 and 250.0 is required. Closest value inserted." Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how to get rid of these annoying error messages?

Pixel/Cloning question: I have 2 images- one imports as 16.7%, 4000/3000 pixel dimension, 180 res, the other at 33.3%, 2400/1800 pixels and 72 res. When choosing the pixel size for the cloning brush, how does the number of pixels I choose relate to the image size that photoshop has imported your image as? If I decide to work on an image at a different %- zooming in or out, how does that affect the pixel size that I have chosen? Since the actual dimension of the pixel is variable, what criteria is photoshop using to determine the actual size of the pixel, and how does that change at different percents of zoom?

I am trying to work throught the photo restoration book. I am putting together a photo that has been torn into pieces. I have to select each piece using the lasso tool, use the option key with magic wand to select it in more detail, then make a new layer to store each piece in.
The first torn piece worked out fine, when I tried to select the second piece, I used the lasso successfully, then tried to hold down the option and click the magic want, it said that there were no pixels selected. I have run into this problem before.... I started over and over reselecting this piece and every time, it said that there were no pixels selected.

Since a few days, most of my brushes have ugly pixels they never had before.
The pixels show up outside the contours of the brushes.
I'll give you some examples here:
On the screenshot you'll see that some of the thumbnails already show the extra squares I mean. How can I solve this?
