View 3 Replies View RelatedI work in a dental x-ray clinic. We just purchased a digital x-ray machine. It is important to dentists that the image size is printed one to one. I will probably learn how to make the machine software do it but I'm hoping that this board could help me use Photoshop to do it as well.
The image has a centimetre ruler on it. I dragged the image onto a blank document the size of my paper. I used the Transform box to increase the size until 1 cm on the image's ruler size matches 1 cm on Photoshop's ruler. This is trial and error, though. It took me many size changes until the image was the right size.
I'm using Photoshop 7. Can I use a tool that will allow me to define 1 cm on the image's ruler and then change the size to 1cm according to Photoshop's ruler, thereby changing the whole image's size with it?
I’m wondering about color spaces and how they affect working with BW digital images and digital printing (working in PS and LR).
I’ve been thinking that the grays are probably more limited by the bit depth (65,536 shades of gray for 16-bit vs. 256 shades for 8-bit.) than by whether or not you’re working in ProPhotoRGB or AdobeRGB, but that’s just a guess on my part. Does these two color spaces really better than the other, specifically for BW images and digital printing (I'm printing to an Epson 3880)?
I was just wondering for photoshop how much pixelsfor canvas size everybody is used to using?
I use photoshop (previously 7, CS3 in office, recently upgraded to CC) to draw comic strips, and quite often I just keep expanding the canvas vertically as I draw more panels. Now, of course common sense would dictate that the larger the file the slower your photoshop gets. I just noticed today that one of my files is getting sluggish, and yup, the height has gotten to 14000 pixels. Better crop that thing before it gets to the point I can't even open the file anymore. So I was just wondering if there was any rule around as to how big a file can get before it's too big to operate on photoshp.
Is blurb a good program for printing a digital photobook? Is the LR5 process better than downloading blurb and then sending it in to be published?Which of the LR5 blurb options is the best?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know Photoshop can handle variables in text format so for example and that you can set a variable to be an image that'll change with alternate images but can Photoshop use a mix of the two to create images with variable fields for text?
Heres some examples:
These have been done in Directsmile (not by me) which after playing with the demo lets you import image sets of all the letters and it then uses those to make up the variable data for each print imported as a CSV file. They're not text with filters applied, they are tiffs with masks:
Now Directsmile obviously does all this, but seeings as Im paying for Photoshop CS6, I wondered if it could handle it?. If not Ill have to focus on Directsmile, even though it is PC only
if I have an image that was originaly 3000x2000 or so, and I reduced it to 800x600 for web viewing, and then saved it as a photoshop file, can I just open up the file in photoshop again, adjust>image size to make it go back to 3000x2000 and print it out without loss of sharpness or quality?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI called the big webdesign file "(X)" and the image I wanted to paste in it "(Y)",
What Happened:
For the design of a webpage, I made a photoshop-file(X) with a lot of squares(X). These squares(X) had the size 9,42×9,42 centimeters. I measured the squares(X) carefully and also made sure the size was in centimeters, so I am sure that the size was 9,42×9,42 cm. My plan was to fill the squares(X) with pictures(Y). I had a map on my computer with a lot of square-sized JPG-images(Y) in it. All I had to do was open the pictures(Y) in photoshop, change the size into 9,42×9,42 centimeters and copy+paste them into the squares(X) of the webdesign. I did this before and it worked perfectly.
But then, I opened one of the images(Y) and when I wanted to resize it, the resize-tool said it was only 3,25×3,25 centimeters big.I thought it was strange, so I copied+pasted it into the design-file(X) with all the squares(X) that needed to be filled. Allthough photoshop had told me that the squares(X) in the file were 9,42×9,42 centimeters big and the image(Y) I resized was 3,25×3,25, the "small" image(Y) turned out to be bigger then the squares(X). And when I resized the "small" image(Y) into 9,42×9,42 centimeters, it was even bigger than it was before. How can this be, and how can I still make the images(X&Y) the same size?
What I already tried:
- I made the file of the webdesign(X) with all the squares(X) into one layer, copied the file(X) and opened a new file(X) with the same measurements of the old file(X). I also changed the resolution of the file(X) into pixels/centimeters instead of pixels/inches. Then I pasted the image(X) of the old file into the new file. I didn't work; the image(X) that I pasted in the new file was bigger and when I pasted the other picture(Y) in this image, the same problem was still there.
- I also opened the picture(Y) in photoshop, made a screenshot of it and then pasted the screenshot into paint. With paint I cropped it again and saved it as a JPEG-file. After that, I opened the image (Y) in photoshop again. It now had the size of 11,27×11,27 centimeters. Then I resized the image(Y) into 9,42×9,42 cm, but it still wasn't as big as the squares(X).
How can I automatically add different pictures in a single canvas using Picture package? i.e. I have about 48 pictures and I want to place 4 different pictures to each [10 X 8 - "4(4X5)"] canvas so that I can send all 48 pictures for printing at a digital studio. When I try, multiple copies of single picture appear on each canvas. I tried 'contact sheet' but not satisfied with the result as I could not change the length and width of the pictures.

how I can print an image at one to one so that the print is at size as. I believe there is a quick way of calculating this in PS but unsure where to begin.
The image which will contain a ruler as a point of reference needs to be printed at its actual size.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have created a document in photoshop sized 8.5x11, the same size as my printer paper, at 300dpi. I am using the ruler guidelines onscreen to make an image 6 3/4" wide, but it is printing out too small at 6".
I am not measuring onscreen by putting an actual ruler up against my screen, I am using the photoshop ruler (so I am sizing according to the 6 3/4" ruler in photoshop, even if it is 8" on my screen)
In the print settings, I uncheck "scale to fit media" and "center image".
I have CS5. The photos coming out of the camera are 300 dpi and approx 12.8" x 19.2". When I crop the photo to 300 dpi and 8x10 and send it to print, the printer says the photo is too small. It comes across as 72 dip and 8.333" x 6.667". I was expecting photos to come out of the camera with 72 dpi and a huge length x width. I can then crop and print without issue. Is there a photoshop setting that needs to be set? Is there a different work flow I need to use? I shoot with a 5D Mark III.

My image size is 7" x 10" and when I view it in the print preview window (I add crop marks) it looks fine printing to 8.5" x 11". Once printed, the image shrinks to about 1/10 the size and is in the upper left hand corner of the letter sized sheet.

Today the Print to PDF fails... it doesn't give me an error it just pretends like it prints to pdf with the status box popping up for a second, then nothing. So I attempted to Save As a PDF instead this worked, but resulted in pdf with a file size of 453M! This is much larger than the pdf's I was getting before, in the 3-ish M file size..

I downloaded the ICC profile, copied it to /Library/ColorSync/Profiles (and actually any other path that i could find in there). When i open the print dialog i cannot set that paper in either Photoshop or the Epson dialog.
I then removed ALL the ICC files from that path and... surprise. All the profiles are still shown in Photoshop.
