I'm working on at a much higher resolution in another file. Do I have to place it every time I want to update the first file, or can I link it to update automatically, like when a photoshop file is placed within Illustrator?
View 5 RepliesWe have a couple parts that are linked to a jpg file, through Inventor studio. They were set as a reflection image, from what I can tell. However they are now perminantly linked to the part and anything we copy from it. I eliminated the reflection from Inventor studio, but Vault still thinks the link is there. If we delete the jpg files it causes unresolved references and as we all know Inventor will then refuse to work until they are resolved.
Any way to get rid of this link? We can make a new jpg, and resolve it, but not delete it.
Is it possible to link one part file dimension to another part file?
1. Part first is a cylinder in parametric table i changed it,s name OD , ID and thk. ( find attachment )
Cylinder ID is ( ID=105)
2. Then i made 2 nd part whose step od ( od=102) is going to insert in to cylinder id.There is 3 mm clerance every time
3. So i have to make equction in 2 nd part that ( Step OD= ( ID-3).
means next time when i will change ID of cylinder OD of 2 nd part will ger changed automatically minus by 3 mm than id of cylinder.
there is no "Generate" link in my "file" menu

If say a mock-up of a shop sign is created with the sign being placed from an original saved piece of artwork and changes are made to that artwork file and then saved over the previous, can the file update on the psd mock-up automatically as it would in Indesign?

1. I've created 4 symbols and placed 200 instances of them.The symbols were originally created inside the CDR file. (and are still stored in it)I have now exported the symbols to a CSL - how do I re-link the symbols to the CSL file?
2. How do I edit the CSL file so that the symbols are updated in the CDR file(s)?I've opened the CSL file, edited the symbols and saved it.Then I re-open the CDR file expecting the symbols to be updated - but they are not.
I have just designed a leaflet that i want to send by email to different companies. I'd like to have a link on the leaflet so when you click it on the e-mail, it will send you straight to my website
View 5 Replies View RelatedSay we needed a similar assembly under the same file with a few modifications, like a guardrail for instance. All I have ever had to do was copy the folder with the assembly and parts in it and rename the folder and assembly to change the link to another folder. Opening the assembly quickly prompts me for a part or two in the new folder then I am good to go. A coworker of mine who runs the same computer and version of Inventor never gets that request. When the assembly is opened in the new folder it automatically links it back to the previous file regardless of changing the folder etc.

We have always made extensive use of File Linking our Autocad (2009) models into 3dsmax. I seem to have found a stability issue when migrating from a Max2012 scene that includes a file linked Autocad file to Max2013.
When you Reload the linked file with 'Show Reload Options' ticked, and then click on the Advanced tab and then on 'Select Layers to include...', Max will crash. It seems to do this every time.
This only seems to happen with Max scenes that have begun in Max2012.
Workstation spec: i7 2700k, 16GB RAM, GTX480, W7x64
why my File Link Manager dialog box is not showing up in 3ds Max 2012?
I have not been using 3ds Max 2012 because it was so buggy upon it's release, and it appears as though that has not changed. Anyway, my 3ds Max 2012 is completely up to date with SPs, HFs, and Subscription Advantage Pack. This is literally the first time I've tried to use it, and it's already going bad; I would have thought by now AD would have had most of the bugs worked out of it.
I thought i could "File Link" from mudbox 2011.fbx files to 3dsmax file link manager but no. i get some error. (Unable to Attach this file;the file may be missing, corrupted, or may not contain valid data)
Weird since these are both Autodesk products.
I have been trying to understand how to get from a ***.docx file to ***.xaml and then link that into my project.
Is it a simple matter of saving a html somehow or am I missing the boat?
I can't open AI on C6 (error message : link file missing) but I can open same AI on C2 without any error , why is that so ?

It can't be relinked or removed since it no longer exists. It appears that Illustrator is no longer keeping file association information with my placed images. If an image is linked, it works fine. However, embedded images have no File Location and simply say its "Embedded" (No file associated with this image).
I understand that this is correct for pasted images. But I have tried both placing an image with the link box, and changing a Linked image to Embeded.
I am not sure when i noticed this change, but its been some time now. Trying to figure out if its related to the AI version, the OS version, or what.
This is not isolated, since all the art stations here (100 or so) do the same thing. And I am pretty sure I noticed this when we were on Vista as well..

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using an AI template to produce a lot of art as SVGs. The source Illustrator file has a bottom art layer, and several layers above that (6) which have a small PNG image that is basically a simple gray button. The same PNG is shown as embedded 6 times and then saved out as an SVG with the options of Profile: SVG 1.1; Type: Convert to outline; Image Location: Embed; CSS Properties: Presentation Attributes; Decimal Places: 3; Encoding: Unicode (UTF-8) and Include XMP is checked.
Some of these resulting files have since stopped working, and upon opening, display the error "Could not find link "05AE065BE.png".
The file is not linked, and the requested file name is generated randomly. The file shows no gray button PNGs, just the empty sublayer that they are on.
I've gone round and round on how this is happening, and have only found information on file character limits and even file path character limits, and server character limits. The file name of the embedded PNG is 27 characters, and the crazy file path and file name totals 137 characters.
Why would an embedded file be causing a linking error and random renaming of the embedded file? And also, why is it only happening on some of the files and not all of them? They are built identically within minutes and batch processed!

View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I place a link to a dwg as a hyperlink in an Excel file, AutoCAD freezes. It opens the drawing, then AutoCAD is completely locked. I have to close it through task manager.
This has been tested wih multiple drawings and excel file and it happens in all of them. I'm using Excel 2010 and AutoCAD 2010.

I am looking into using the Survey Database for the first time and noticed it linked back to the imported file from which the points came. However, my question is when the points are adjusted within the AutoCAD file is there a way for this adjustment to link back into the imported point file. I am trying not to have a situation where the data is different between the imported file and the autocad file.

I pinched the code from the example hand rail iLogic part that comes with inventor and tweaked it to suit. After inputting the code shown in the image, when I click OK I get a 'fatal error' of some sort.

I have created parts made up of a smaller parts themselves, them multiple assemblies of different parts that are all used in a final asembly. Now I need to give this whole assembly to someone. I tried sending all the files together with the assembly. However, when the receiver tried to open the assembly, most of the file references could not be resolved and inventor asked for the path of each, which would take too long to do. Is there any way around this?
