Photoshop :: Pen Tool Path Continuity Breaks After Undo (CS6)?

May 26, 2012

With all that adobe has done with this version, but not only that has changed. Lets say that im drawing a path with the pen tool and I get it wrong putting the last segnment and press Ctrl+Z to Undo, the path breaks and you have to go back and click on the last point again to keep drawing.....

Another thing that im experimenting is that the intuos3 in illustrator 6 the selection even with the double click on the side of the pencil is getting stuck for a brief moment when i stop pressing the pen in the tablet surface.

Photoshop :: Network / External Drive With (Users) In Path Breaks?

Mar 21, 2013

I'm on a mac and I'm trying to run the photoshop script "Layer Comps to Files" - which works fine .... UNLESS I'm connected to an SMB network drive with "users" in the path.

NOTE: I am not trying to save to the network drive!
NOTE: Each test I'm doing is exactly the same (other than which network drive is connected)
NOTE: Just having the network drive connected with "Users" in the path messes things up!

eg.
Script does NOT run if I have an SMB drive connected with "Users" in the path, e.g.: [URL]...As soon as I disconnect the SMB drive (I don't even have to close photoshop) the script runs perfectly fine. The script also runs FINE with other SMB network drives withOUT "users" in the path, e.g.:[URL]...

I found this thread from 2010 (which has never been resolved but is inconveniently read-only now) has the same issue with CS4 and it still isn't fixed in CS6:[URL]...

Lightroom :: Volume Name Change Breaks Path?

Apr 6, 2012

Using the new LR4.

So since I updated to Light room 4 – I changed the name of the volume that all the pix were on. So the library has been upgraded (from LT3) but all the folders have the big “?” on them because the name of the original volume where the pix were stores is no longer there. I don’t want to go through every folder to locate the new location of the pictures (which actually is the same volume but the name changed) of that volume. How can I easily locate all the pictures for the library on the newly named volume? Without going through folder after folder and on and on to correct the path.

Illustrator :: Created Text On Curved Path Using Pen Tool And Type On Path Tool

I created text on a curved path using the pen tool and the the type on a path tool. However, there are portions of the text that I want to taper. For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

Paint.NET :: Fast-painting Using Undo Stack And Saving Undo History

Aug 19, 2012

I think it'd be so cool to be able to replay your entire undo history of a picture, so you can see and show others how you proceeded on a picture you made. That way, it's never necessary to capture screen video for like 10 hours and stuff..

So first you'd need to add an option to save the undo history (so that you always keep the history from when you started). Then you'd need an option to playback the undo history.

AutoCAD .NET :: How Undo Marks Are Added To Undo Stack

Oct 20, 2011

I have a problem understanding how undo marks are added to the undo stack. In the code below a fan of lines are draw in a random location. If you run MTest a few times, the AutoCAD Undo command will remove the fans one at a time.

If you run MMulti to draw 10 fans, the AutoCAD Undo command will remove all the fans in a single step.I want to be able to remove the fans one at a time.I thought that  a  StartTransaction / Commit  pair would act as markers for the undo stack, but this isn't working.

Photoshop :: Path/Pen Tool

Sep 15, 2005

I've had a problem with the pen tool for a while now...
On the odd occasion when I am creating a new path, it inverts itself, i.e. when I select it I get the opposite of what I have masked, (also the Path icon background will switch from grey to white indicating the path has reversed).

I've had this problem in version 7/CS1 and CS2, my normal fix is to ditch the prefs and I get the tool back the way it should be but this is proving a pain.

I thought it could be a keyboard shortcut that I was hitting by mistake but I can't seem to find any reference to a short cut for this. (Searched online and Ninness book Power Shortcuts.)

Photoshop :: Pen Tool / Path

Oct 12, 2004

I have been reading about the Pen Tool and according to what I am reading (off various websites) here is what I am supposed to do...

1. Open a new workspace

2. Click the Pen Tool

3. Make a path using 4 or so anchor points

4. Select the Brush tool

5. Click on the Paths tab (on the right where the layers are)

6. Double-click on the path to save it.

7. Then right-click on the path and choose STROKE PATH.

The only problem is that my STROKE PATH is DISABLED.

Photoshop :: How To Add Stoke Path Using Pen Tool On CS6 (mac)

I'm trying to create something similar to this:

Using pen tool and stroke path, but when i use the pen tool I'm not sure how to add the stroke path like that.

I've used CS4 previously at school and when you right clicked on the path it came up with this:

I haven't a clue how to get that up on CS6 (on mac) and when you right click it, it just seems to continue adding the path.

Photoshop :: Smooth Path Tool

Feb 27, 2013

In the past I have traced the outline of an image using the pen tool by placing as many points along the contour or outline as possible. Once I closed the path the appearance was not perfectly smooth.

I remember using a tool after that to smooth the path that would eliminate any uneven or jagged edges and make the curves really smooth. How to do this in CS6?

Photoshop :: Pen Tool Path Color

Mar 21, 2012

Although I think the pen tool could be an excellent way of making selections, I find that in many situations the path color hardly shows against a midtone or gray area I want to select.

Furthermore I find the tangent line makes things worse since it's the same color as the path (gray) and can easily obscure the selection I attempt to make.

Is it really not possible to change the path color when using the pen tool?

Photoshop :: Line Breaks

Jan 20, 2009

In most other application, MSWord, Dreamweaver, Indesign... [shift] + [enter] creates a Line Break (forced, manual).

In Photoshop however, it does nothing.

This is mostly only an issue when you are justifying text.

When you want to move the last word or so in a line down to the start of the next line but still have the block of text 'Justified' ... in photoshop it is troublesome.

(^n = line break, for demonstration purposes, photoshop does not display hidden characters that i know of, and in indesign at least, a forced line break is represented by a small sideways, backwards L.)

Photoshop :: CS6 Direct Selection Tool Without Altering Path

Jun 12, 2012

Prior to Photoshop CS6, a curve on a path could be moved using the Direct Selection Tool without altering the path beyond the two enclosing points. If you manipulated the curve, only the inside handles of the two points (that create the curve) would change - and only in length - as shown below:

Unfortunately, in Photoshop CS6, if you manipulate the path curve with the Direct Selection Tool, the handles both sides of the points move freely - affecting the path beyond those points:

- is there a way to revert to the prior behaviour? The Photoshop CS6 behaviour may seem more intuitive (or something), but it's less precise and alter parts of the path that are fine already.

Photoshop :: CS6 Pen Tool - Clicking And Dragging On Existing Path Should Not Change

May 2, 2012

CS6 Pen tool, clicking and dragging on an existing path should not change the angle on the adjacent radius handles. It should only dynamically adjust the length of the existing radius handles, based on which direction you drag. It should only affect that one segment and not affect the bordering angles. I've been pathing with Adobe products for 25 years and this should not change now. I want to be able to fine tune ONE line segment without affecting its neighboring segments. The "new" behavior should only occur with a modifier. If the Mothership deems this is the only way to do this moving forward, at LEAST give your long-standing customers a modifier, such as the shift key to enable us to keep working as we have been for decades.
