Photoshop :: Pen Tool Selections Are Backwards [Pen Tool Options]
Jul 16, 2008
I am having a weird issue whenever I make a selection with the pen tool and right click and make it a selection. The selections (dancing ants) go around the outside of it. I know to hit Shift+Ctrl+I and it inverses it normal.
I use the Selection/Move tool a lot in Illustrator, but this never happened in CS3 or CS4: If I select a mark or a shape to move a specific amount, click on the Selection arrow to specify the distance, using a minus sign if I want the object to move down-screen, when I click on OK, the object moves up-screen. Is this the new, improved, Illustrator? I mean, all right, I can get used to changes in conventions, but isn't this sort of an unlikely change? Aren't there other improvements to be made in the app? Is it me, or is it Illustrator?
I have been trying to figure out a way to add to a selection. What I mean is I draw a path with the pen and then save that and turn it into a selection and save that too. The problem is when I want to change the path of the selection using the pen tool it just gives me this funky path after the selection is made. When working on multible layers I need to use the same selection and due to the complexity of the object and impractibility of re-doing the whole selection again with the pen tool without the part of the layer that I don't want.
Would it be better to bring up the saved path, delete or move a few anchor points and resave the path? The problem with this is I believe it will discard the old path that I made first and I can't have that.
I am using PS CS2, what I need to know is this, how do I draw a line with the pen tool and also draw another line with the pen tool but not have them connect?
Using the crop tool I can only make selection marquees that are constrained as if I am clicking a corner handle. When the selction is finished I have no side handles only four corner handles.
Is there a way to use the spherize tool for non-spherical selections? For example, I have an outline of a human body and I want to give it some depth - make it bulge out so to speak. I tried to make a selection around it (made it tight around the edges so that the selection outline is exactly like the outline of the body) and then spherized it. But it seems like the effect comformed only to a regular sphere shape, but only on the selected region. It doesn't look good. I'm looking for a way to get the things inside the selection to "bulge out". Is there a way? Am I being unclear?
If I make a box with my polygonal lasso tool, it turns into an egg shape. It was working fine, closed Photoshop (7), and when I opened it again it was doing this..
I've searched everywhere for this, anyone know what's up?
i am trying to make multiple selections using the magnetic lasso and i cant figure out what im doing wrong. first, i have selecte d the outer perimiter of the object. next, i tried to select the holes within the object for a clean cut out by using the shift key but after i finish my selection and release the shift key my selection doesnt turn into marching ants.
I want to stroke a bezier curve with the Pen tool. The color of the stroke I can manage all right, but I am totally unable to find out how I edit the line type and its width in Pen tool. In the leftmost submenu showing the pen tool, there are several preset options (for the pen tool and other tools), but none of which I need. What I want, is simply a 1 pixel wide pen which draws whole lines, not dashed or dotted. And I would also like to have some feathering and/or antialiasing options in the stroke.
Well my problem is that the toolbar that comes up when you press on (example paintbrush tool or type text tool), you know that stripe above evreything where you can can select font and font size and brush size and that stuffs, well that stripe is gone.
I have selected Window and then toolbar but the problem is that I must have pull that thing away from the window and so know I relly don't know where that stripe is. (The stripe is where you can select font or font size, brush or brush size. I call it the stripe ) Well I am getting so crazy because I doon't know how to get that thing back?
When I click once on a tool to choose it, the tool's options (ex. the 3 options of the lasso) stay displayed so that I have to re-click (anywhere) before I can use it. This by opposition to the normal behavior of PS that is when you click on a tool it is choosen and you can use it right away. I must have change a preference but I can't find wich. The tool pallets in all my Creative apps Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign have just stopped working, ie the secondary hidden tools do not appear when you click on the tool, so I am unable to access the other tools. Seems like it should be something pretty simple, but it is eluding me,
I just upgraded my mom from PSE5 to PSE11....is there a way to detach the Tool Options from the BOTTOM and move it back up to the top? I'm finding it's confusing her because she likes to have her Photo Bin open at all times and she's used to seeing the Tool Options appear at the top like in previous versions of PSE.
Is there a plugin that can change it or an option someplace I'm missing?
after using the crop tool in Photoshop CS6, the Presets and RGB channels options are greyed out on the curves adjustment layer, IF that layer's Properties are displaying at the time. I find I can get the options back if I open and close Curves Display Options.
I am running Windows 7 x64, AMD Radeon HD 5800 with latest drivers (same problem with older drivers).
I have adobe photoshop elements 11. I am trying to figure out how to make the options bar and tool icons larger. I am straining my neck and eyes everytime I need to change tools, or change image size/resolution or save my image.
Gimp in Linux (Mint 11), I've customised my toolbar layout and am happy. Gimp remembers my settings and things tend to be fine.
Every so often, however, Gimp loses my colour palette (palette editor), forcing me to add it again. And it's always my colour palette (palette editor).

I've used Gimp successfully for a couple of years—but now it’s usable. I can’t adjust the size of the brush, paint, eraser or use other functions because below the tools palate all I see is “You can drop dockable dialog here” and every function that used to be in that space is gone. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it stays the same. How can I bring back all the functions?
I use GIMP for painting, pixel art and general image editing, and have batch files set up to run GIMP with the appropriate sessionrc and gimprc parameters, as well as to copy and save all other [...]\username\.gimp-2.8\*rc files.
However, whenever I use one setup and then another, my tool options are all messed up, and it's rather aggravating having to reset them every time.
