View 9 RepliesIf I make a box with my polygonal lasso tool, it turns into an egg shape. It was working fine, closed Photoshop (7), and when I opened it again it was doing this..
I've searched everywhere for this, anyone know what's up?

When cropping a photo, the crop tool highlights the photo correctly, but when the crop is activated it resized the photo to about 1 pixel, no matter how large or small the selection crop was.
Actions took:
I fully installed all the updates, when unsuccessful, I repaired the installation, when that was unsuccessful, I completely uninstalled and then reinstalled Photoshop.
I have been trying to figure out a way to add to a selection. What I mean is I draw a path with the pen and then save that and turn it into a selection and save that too. The problem is when I want to change the path of the selection using the pen tool it just gives me this funky path after the selection is made. When working on multible layers I need to use the same selection and due to the complexity of the object and impractibility of re-doing the whole selection again with the pen tool without the part of the layer that I don't want.
Would it be better to bring up the saved path, delete or move a few anchor points and resave the path? The problem with this is I believe it will discard the old path that I made first and I can't have that.
I am using PS CS2, what I need to know is this, how do I draw a line with the pen tool and also draw another line with the pen tool but not have them connect?

When I select content using the crop tool then hit enter (or the green checkmark) the picture just disappears. This happened all of a sudden a few days ago. I can do COMMAND Z to undo and the picture reappears. But every time I crop the picture disappears and the layer thumbnail just turns brown.
Possible to smooth the sharp edges of a hand drawn lasso selection automatically?
I know i can make a selection and then go to select>modify>smooth and it rounds off the selection, but i want to be able to do this on the fly as i make a lot of selection in my artwork.
how to get the Polygon Lasso tool on my Mac version of Photoshop 12.1 (CS5)? It's on my PC version of the program, but I can't find it anywhere on my Mac version.

When working in a layered document (PSD) and making a selection using the Lasso Tool and/or Polygonal Lasso Tool I am unable to pan by holding the SPACE bar. Yet, if using the mouse, panning works great.Sometimes very early on in making the Lasso selection, using my tablet, I can pan if I'm patient - gotta hold SPACE and attempt to pan and if I wait long enough it'll actually do it. But after I've placed a bunch of points, forget it.
The larger the doc and the more layers it has the worse it is.
I've been suing the magnetic lasso tool to make a selection of a group of people; there is a lot of going between legs and over heads, etc. But invariably when I get about half way through the selection the magnetic lasso tool acts as if I've completed the selection, i.e. I tap the image and the point of the last tap suddenly is connected with my point of origin. I have done this several times, making sure that I didn't tap too hard or anything like that, but that seems not to be the problem (I'm using CS6/Mac 10.6.8, for what it's worth).
So, my question is: is there a way to erase part of the selection? I know about the add to/subtract from the selection; but that's not getting me back to where I need. For example, the line that cuts through my group, the line going from my end point to point of origin, well, if I can delete that line and continue on from the end point that might resolve this problem.
I'm fairly new to Photoshop and I keep getting a warning box after I try to lasso a section of my picture off. The Warning says "No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visable"
What does that mean and how do I fix it?
if I select area with lasso tool with like 10px feather, is there way to lower that feather value after that?
Select -> Feather: that only makes feather value larger.
What's different between these 2 tools(Pen and Laso tool)? I can use laso to cut out the pictures and at the same time, the Pen tools also can do the same.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes photoshop have the option to not see the lasso?
I have selected a section in my photo that i would like to adjust the color of, But I want to be able to adjust the Hue Saturation without the lasso in the picture. Is their an option to mak it not visable while I am adjusting.
I have two layers overlapping, and want to select only the overlapping section. I made both layers less opaque so I could see the exact intersection lines. But when I use the magnetic lasso, it selects along the lines pretty well, but in some places it is warped or a bit crooked. Is there a better way or a better tool?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with the Magnetic Lasso Tool a bit lately, and it's reminded me just how great it is. I think it's one of those selection tools that's often overlooked. It does an admirable job especially if you follow up with the new refine edge controls.
Anybody else got any views on the tool?
I seem to be having a problem using the Magnetic Lasso Tool In Photoshop CS3 Extended as when I get half way around an egales beak zoomed in at 66.67% and start to single click around the tight corners the photo is covered over with a white background and the palettes to the right of the Photo e.g.
layers, channels, paths becomes white to and all you can see is the paths that the Magnetic Lasso Tool has made around the beak until you click any key on the keyboard but the annoying thing about doing that is that the path automatically becomes selected there for I am unable to draw the paths around the rest of the beak does anyone know of a patch of some kind that will correct this error?
way to use the magnectic lasso tool? I can't seem to work it just right.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to use the spherize tool for non-spherical selections? For example, I have an outline of a human body and I want to give it some depth - make it bulge out so to speak. I tried to make a selection around it (made it tight around the edges so that the selection outline is exactly like the outline of the body) and then spherized it. But it seems like the effect comformed only to a regular sphere shape, but only on the selected region. It doesn't look good. I'm looking for a way to get the things inside the selection to "bulge out". Is there a way? Am I being unclear?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to fine adjust the selections done with the Lasso Tools but can not find out how to do it.
I imagine that I can select the create points and manipulate them. Am I dreaming?
While using the Lasso tool often (10% of the time) it will complete the selection pre-maturely, with a single left click. Similarly and about the same frequency it wont start a path at all and I will need to click again to begin the selection. This has been happening for 5months since I upgraded to Creative Clous and Photoshop CC. Im running a more than capable machine.
Is there any known resolution for this?
I used the Magic Wand to select the white area then inverted the selection to select the bodies. The result is in the attachment. BUT parts of the shirt and the paper are not selected. How do I select them? Do I need to use the Lasso Tool after the Magic Wand?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have around 200 images that need to be treated to make the background look better. Currently I can do this by selecting the item with the magnetic lasso tool. I then inverse the selection and apply a Gausian Blur. However it is very time consuming to do this 200 times. Is there any way that selecting the item of clothing can be put into an action so that it does not need to be carried out 200 times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm using the polygonal lasso tool to cut something out it tends to suddenly hook up back to the beginning point without me telling it to do so and therefore ruining the remainder of the job.
I noticed that it only does this when I'm moving back on myself (for example going round the edge of something curved etc)
This had been bugging me for ages and I can't believe the photoshop people would have let something this annoying slip through the cracks.
Is there a fix for this or something obvious I am missing?
Thanks
