I have two layers overlapping, and want to select only the overlapping section. I made both layers less opaque so I could see the exact intersection lines. But when I use the magnetic lasso, it selects along the lines pretty well, but in some places it is warped or a bit crooked. Is there a better way or a better tool?
I've been suing the magnetic lasso tool to make a selection of a group of people; there is a lot of going between legs and over heads, etc. But invariably when I get about half way through the selection the magnetic lasso tool acts as if I've completed the selection, i.e. I tap the image and the point of the last tap suddenly is connected with my point of origin. I have done this several times, making sure that I didn't tap too hard or anything like that, but that seems not to be the problem (I'm using CS6/Mac 10.6.8, for what it's worth).
So, my question is: is there a way to erase part of the selection? I know about the add to/subtract from the selection; but that's not getting me back to where I need. For example, the line that cuts through my group, the line going from my end point to point of origin, well, if I can delete that line and continue on from the end point that might resolve this problem.
I've been playing around with the Magnetic Lasso Tool a bit lately, and it's reminded me just how great it is. I think it's one of those selection tools that's often overlooked. It does an admirable job especially if you follow up with the new refine edge controls.
I seem to be having a problem using the Magnetic Lasso Tool In Photoshop CS3 Extended as when I get half way around an egales beak zoomed in at 66.67% and start to single click around the tight corners the photo is covered over with a white background and the palettes to the right of the Photo e.g.
layers, channels, paths becomes white to and all you can see is the paths that the Magnetic Lasso Tool has made around the beak until you click any key on the keyboard but the annoying thing about doing that is that the path automatically becomes selected there for I am unable to draw the paths around the rest of the beak does anyone know of a patch of some kind that will correct this error?
I have around 200 images that need to be treated to make the background look better. Currently I can do this by selecting the item with the magnetic lasso tool. I then inverse the selection and apply a Gausian Blur. However it is very time consuming to do this 200 times. Is there any way that selecting the item of clothing can be put into an action so that it does not need to be carried out 200 times.
I know that it's possible to adjust the width and contrast settings on the magnetic lasso tool, as you go, using bracket hotkeys and period/comma hotkeys, respectively. However, when I try to do this, it doesn't work! The hotkeys work just fine when I am not actually using the magnetic lasso tool, why I can't adjust them while I'm working with the tool?
i am trying to make multiple selections using the magnetic lasso and i cant figure out what im doing wrong. first, i have selecte d the outer perimiter of the object. next, i tried to select the holes within the object for a clean cut out by using the shift key but after i finish my selection and release the shift key my selection doesnt turn into marching ants.
I've just installed Extension Manager Update 6.0.5.9 yesterday and today I've get a wired problem with my bambo tablet.I've used this tablet for 3-4 years without problem. The problem I've now is when I drag lasso tool on an image to make selection it doesn't make a selection even it is showed in the history state that I've used lasso,or magnetic lasso.
My machine is a Mac Pro 2010,Quad-Core Intel Xeon running on Lion 10.7.5 and my bamboo driver is the latest version 5.3.2-2. Even now I've change to use freeform path I've still cannot change form path to selection.
When you click on the magnetic lasso tool it doesnt always let you select what you want to select, sometimes it will say "Warning: no pixels are more than 50% selected. The selected edges will not be visible". Other times instead of actually selecting anything close to the area I selected it just makes a circle looking lasso instead, which typically eliminates the sharp edges I would like to select at times.
I know at some point in time the magnetic lasso allowed me to select every sharp edge and every detailed spot I wanted, so what did I click? I tried reinstalling photoshop and that didnt help.
I using the magnetic lasso to select an image...if I mess up. I try to stop the lasso, it just keeps tracking whereever I go and I want to stop it from tracking .... what do I do to end it... I know I can go to where I started ......... but is there a better way?
The first is the original image that I would like to remove the background from. The second picture is my attempt with the magnetic lasso. It left areas that are very rough, particularly near the base of the flower that seem to include portions of the background. My question is how would a pro do this to ensure smooth boundaries all around and if this is the best that the lasso can do, what else do I need to do to fix the areas that are rough?
I have been trying to use the magnetic lasso tool in Photoshop 7 to select part of an image. I want to extract as much detail as possible, so I have been zooming in real close and laying down a lot of anchors mapping out the image. When I am nearing completion, I get an error message saying that it is too complex to complete. Is there a way to adjust the magnetic lasso tool, so that it will stop giving me an error, or is there a better why to select a complex image?
When I select an area of my image using magnetic lasso tool, instead of selecting the area I've drawn around - the selection shrinks and it'll merely select a small section of image.
Possible to smooth the sharp edges of a hand drawn lasso selection automatically?
I know i can make a selection and then go to select>modify>smooth and it rounds off the selection, but i want to be able to do this on the fly as i make a lot of selection in my artwork.
how to get the Polygon Lasso tool on my Mac version of Photoshop 12.1 (CS5)? It's on my PC version of the program, but I can't find it anywhere on my Mac version.
When working in a layered document (PSD) and making a selection using the Lasso Tool and/or Polygonal Lasso Tool I am unable to pan by holding the SPACE bar. Yet, if using the mouse, panning works great.Sometimes very early on in making the Lasso selection, using my tablet, I can pan if I'm patient - gotta hold SPACE and attempt to pan and if I wait long enough it'll actually do it. But after I've placed a bunch of points, forget it.
The larger the doc and the more layers it has the worse it is.
I'm fairly new to Photoshop and I keep getting a warning box after I try to lasso a section of my picture off. The Warning says "No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visable"
What's different between these 2 tools(Pen and Laso tool)? I can use laso to cut out the pictures and at the same time, the Pen tools also can do the same.
Does photoshop have the option to not see the lasso?
I have selected a section in my photo that i would like to adjust the color of, But I want to be able to adjust the Hue Saturation without the lasso in the picture. Is their an option to mak it not visable while I am adjusting.
While using the Lasso tool often (10% of the time) it will complete the selection pre-maturely, with a single left click. Similarly and about the same frequency it wont start a path at all and I will need to click again to begin the selection. This has been happening for 5months since I upgraded to Creative Clous and Photoshop CC. Im running a more than capable machine.
I used the Magic Wand to select the white area then inverted the selection to select the bodies. The result is in the attachment. BUT parts of the shirt and the paper are not selected. How do I select them? Do I need to use the Lasso Tool after the Magic Wand?
I have a MacBook Pro OSX, 10.6.8. Got it checked out and I have plenty of memory, so it seems the software's the problem. It's been running without incident for over a year but now this problem. The screen goes black (and keyboard goes backlit) after about 2 seconds of use of the lasso tool; sometimes the selection tool; and also the text tool.
ok, so im trying to laso a picture but the tool will not stop lasoing itself right about the time i pause for a second or just out of nowhere. say i was lasoing this -> ) but photoshop will most often just finish, what it thinks, is what i want selected like this -> |) when im trying to make a form like this -> (). i know its kind of a.. rudimentary way of describing my problem, but i cant think of any other way.
