Photoshop Elements :: Crop Tool Makes Picture Disappear?

Jul 30, 2013

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 for MAC.

When I select content using the crop tool then hit enter (or the green checkmark) the picture just disappears. This happened all of a sudden a few days ago. I can do COMMAND Z to undo and the picture reappears. But every time I crop the picture disappears and the layer thumbnail just turns brown.

Photoshop :: Rectangular Marquee Tool Selection And Then Crop Photo But Nothing Happened

Apr 29, 2013

I'm trying to use the rect marquee tool to do a selection and then crop a photo but when I do nothing happens.

A couple of strange things have/are happening:

-At one point, while I was in transform selection I there was added space around the marquee, which became the new edge, as opposed to the marquee itself.

-The marquee is in the shape of a rounded rectangle.

Photoshop :: Crop Tool Prior To CS6 Vs Perspective Crop Tool

Feb 26, 2013

In the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.

Photoshop :: Preset Crop Tool Not Matching Image Size After Crop

I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)

But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop

The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before

[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]

I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.

Photoshop :: Character Tool - Setting Size Or Tracking Makes It Jumping To Random Number?

Aug 5, 2013

'm using a Mac with the latest version of the Creative Cloud. I've been stuck with the sillest problem ever with the Character Tool.It started with the size tool. If I set it to 200px and press enter, it will suddently jump to 11443.91 px. It does the same thing if I use the slider (clicking the tT and sliding up and down), it will show me the right number, but the second I let it go, it jumps to a complete random number. If I put it at 300 px, it goes to 11443.91px ... again. Now, all the other character tools are doing the exact same thing. The line-height, the tracking, everything.

Here's all my system info if you need it:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.0 (14.0 20130423.r.221 2013/04/23:23:00:00) x64
Operating System: Mac OS 10.8.4
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:58, Stepping:9 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2

Photoshop :: Crop Tool Won't Let Me Crop

Oct 25, 2004

I am having a problem with the crop tool. It will not crop the area I want; it goes to a point and stops. It's as if it has a mind of it's own and I can't direct it. I thought it might be the mouse so I took it apart and cleaned it, and then I put a different mouse in. It still does the same thing.

Photoshop :: Crop Tool Re-crop By "ratio"

Jan 22, 2008

I've been using the crop tool without any knowledge of the little boxes you can fill in to restrict its WxH dimensions. I always wanted my crops to come out at a 2:3 ratio and could never get them perfect since I was just eyeballing it.

So then I found the WxH controls and if I put "2 in" for width and "3 in" for height, my image will come out as desired, no scaling of the image, but with the unfortunate side effect that my DPI has been changed, which causes problems for me later on. Now if I put "2 in" x "3 in" and then specify 72dpi in the "resolution" field, it will actually scale my image which is not what I want either. Now if I put "2 px" by "3 px" of course it will massively scale my image, which again is not what I want.

What I want is to re-crop my image to a 2:3 ratio, WITHOUT scaling, AND without modifying DPI. Is this possible with the crop tool? It seems that my WxH numbers are required to have units after them and I don't want any of those units (inches, px, mm, etc). I want unitless cropping, basically cropping by ratio. Does this make any sense?

I have a work-around which involves batch resetting all my DPI's at the end of the session. But that adds another step to my workflow which is not a very elegant solution.

Photoshop :: How To Crop A Photo With Rounded Corners?

Nov 12, 2004

1) Click and hold the rectangule tool until other options appear. Select Rounded Rectangle Tool (or, alternatively, just click this in the options area for the shape tool.

2) Select "make work path" in the options for this tool.

3) Try drawing a rectangle. If you want a wider arc, increase the radius in the options.

4) When you're happy with the radius, draw a rectangle from picture corner to corner. Press space when you are making the rectangle to move it about...

5) Go to Paths (a Tab that's default location is behind Layers on the Layers Palette). Ctrl-Left click the workpath.

6) Select, Inverse (Ctrl-Shift-I)

7) Make a new layer and fill with white (Edit>Fill, or Shift-Backspace).

8) Delete the work path.

However I am not sure how to now crop the photo out of the white surrounding area. Also how do I then apply a thin border to the edges of the photo like a stroke?

Photoshop :: Crop Tool

Jun 1, 2009

The crop tool does not seem to work in conjunction with a slight rotation.  I do not have this issue on my personal computer, only at my place of work, where honestly it's much more important that this function work.  The machine I'm on is running XP32 SP3 with 4gb ram, intel proc.  Dell machine.  Nothing non-standard.  I'm using PS CS3 and I believe it's the creative suite package.  I know I've used this tool on other machines and at home without issue. Â Â Â Â Â Â  What causes this issue?  A two step workaround is not a solution, because the tool does something unique.  This is akin to the image size dialogue being broken for me.  It's an integral tool and I need it. Â Â Â Â Â Â  The second issue is one that I haven't seen mentioned at all: when using the perspective function of the crop tool, the final image ends up misaligned from the intended crop.  For example, if I took an image of a house that was slightly skewed and lined the top and left sides of a crop box with the edges of the house, checked the perspective box, moved the handle in the lower left in to adjust perspective, and then hit enter, the top and left of house will have shifted a large amount away from the top and left of the crop.  In effect this gives me a wrong crop.  I've never seen this before. Â Â Â Â Â Â  I've tried "ctrl, alt, shift" to reset the prefs and it does indeed reset the prefs, but does not fix the problem.  I've tried deleting the prefs files manually in my profile, which does indeed reset the prefs as well,
