Photoshop :: Paths And Selections Stuck On Inverse?

May 11, 2013

Every time I fill a closed path, it fills the inverse of the path instead. YES, "add to path area" is selected on the options toolbar rather than "subtract from path area". Also, I know I could just make a selection from the path, invert the selection, and then fill it. But that would be taking 3 steps to do something that should take one step, and it's slowing me down a lot.

Is there some default setting that I accidentally toggled or something?

Photoshop :: Inverse Clipping Paths?

Jan 12, 2006

If I save a path as a clipping path and then import said path into Quark, I'm getting the background, not the selected cutout. Basically I'm getting the inverse of my path selection. I figure there must be a key command for this because it only started happening today.

Photoshop :: How Paths Convert To Selections In CS6

Aug 7, 2013

Used to be if I made a path and converted it to a selection, only that part would be the selection.Now, in CS6 I'm getting a sort of compound shape effect. Say I make a path of a square in an image. I convert to selection, and now the complete image is selected and the square is not.

Did the same in CS5 and got what I expected. Just the square selected.

Photoshop :: Filling Selections With Selections

Oct 26, 2007

I am trying to fill a selection in one picture with a selection from another picture. I am having problems scaling the selection to fit exactly. i still have an outline from the other (previous) selection.

I opened both images up side by side, Adjusted the view on both to 33%, made my first selection, hit control + c, made my selection on the other picture (Exact same shape), hit control + v + shift, then edit>transform>scale, then shift+drag.

Can't get it to line up. I also tried layering the two images then reducing the opacity of just the selection, but photoshop reduces the opacity of the entire layer instead of just the selection,

Photoshop :: How To Invert (inverse) A Selection

Nov 17, 2013

How to invert (inverse) a selection. Here is what I did:

*Selection made via a channel
*With the selection still visible, I created a hue/saturation adjustment layer. This then only changed only the the image area that was selected, as was expected.
*I next chose the "inverse" command under "select"

I went back to the hue/saturation adjustment but the same part of the image as before was effected, same as prior to my "inverse" command. I DID observe that the selection had changed when I chose "inverse," but the adjustment did not effect the new "inverse" part of the image.

When I wish to select a detail within an image and right click to make the selection Photoshop CC automatically selects the inverse of the image, including the entire canvas. The edges of the canvas are not always visible when working in close-up. This has resulted in some close calls when appling color or airbrushing.

Photoshop :: Layers Look Fine But Printer Prints Color Inverse?

Sep 17, 2012

Throughout a project using Photoshop CS4, I print out the pages to make a dummy booklet. Once, upon opening the file and wanting to print, the preview window for Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer showed a color inverse for the entire file. Viewing the images is normal in all ways. I had been making routine nudging, text editing, etc., on various layers and everything looked and behaved fine. It's only in the printing. I looked to see where a correction could be made, but I can't see anything. I tried to have the printer make color adjustments and have Photoshop make them.

Illustrator :: How To Inverse Clipping Mask

May 19, 2013

I'm working on a tshirt and can only use 3 colors (Green, Black and Yellow).  If you look at the attached image, I need to make the brown color that is inside of the squirrel mask out the items behind it (corn stalks, rectangle and part of the "R" in "Corn Maze".  The tshirt will be grey so once the Clipping Mask is applied, it will allow the grey tshirt to become the color for the squirrel.

The problem I'm running into is if I duplicate the squirrel and use him as a clipping mask, it does the opposite of what I'm trying to accomplish.  I need to mask out everything inside the squirrel, not everything outside the squirrel.  In photoshop, I could just inverse the selection.  Not sure how to inverse a Clipping Mask.

Photoshop :: Loading Selections

Aug 3, 2009

I've been developing a script that uses 2 selections saved in a PSD file and have created various files with the selections saved while testing things. I would select an area in a tif, choose Save Selection from the Select menu and the dialog that displays allows me to name the selection into a new document. Select an area in a 2nd document, do the same thing and the dialog defaults to the same file into which the previous selection was saved. Worked great, many times. Earlier, however, I was all of sudden unable to save the two selections into the same document. When I created the two selections in separate documents and dragged a channel from one document to the other (to create the 1 doc with the 2 selections) Photoshop would then not allow me to load selections at ALL. Now, everything seems to be working as it should! I don't THINK I've changed anything and some of the files I used unsuccessfully earlier just worked!
