I'm a frequent user of LR (since V 1). But today I changed one setting and now the gradient tool seems to "protect" the area where it's applied and affects the area where it's NOT applied. where to invert the affected area to its normal behavior?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using a Windows 7, 64-bit Pro desktop pc.
Even though I select the gradient tab, have the central circle highlighted (black dot showing) and have the three lines showing; when I attempt to adjust levels within the selected zone, the whole picture changes. Depending on image gradient area is either one third to half, horizontally, sky or foreground.
I have tried it on other images, restarting Lightroom and rebooting PC, nothing seems to change it.
I also have it installed on my laptop, running 64-bit Home and it works fine.
Did a photographic course yesterday and my images could be manipulated whether on their pc or my laptop. Brought them back home and no go on the desktop again?
Currently when I use the gradient tool I have no way of gettng back into the individual gradients that I have created - the little clickable circles that used to show up on the image have gone! Have tried everything I know about without reinstalling the software as Im scared of damaging/ loosing my catalogues and settings. Before you ask, yes I am in the gradient tool - the adjustments panel is viewable and apart from invisible handles seems to work as usual.

What I really want to do is apply an even exposure adjustment to the bottom section of an image. There's a hard line where I want the adjustment to begin, so I don't really need a gradient. I know I can do this with the adjustment, but that requires passing the brush over a large section of the image and, of course, being very careful in lining the edge of the brush up with the edge of what I want to lighten. I'd like to be able to put a line across the image and say "lighten everything below this line" by x amount.
All of a sudden the Move Tool no longer works. When I try to move an layer on the screen with the Move Tool it moves slightly then jumps back to its original position. The only way I can move a layer at the moment is to use Free Transform, which is not ideal.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use the Selection/Move tool a lot in Illustrator, but this never happened in CS3 or CS4: If I select a mark or a shape to move a specific amount, click on the Selection arrow to specify the distance, using a minus sign if I want the object to move down-screen, when I click on OK, the object moves up-screen. Is this the new, improved, Illustrator? I mean, all right, I can get used to changes in conventions, but isn't this sort of an unlikely change? Aren't there other improvements to be made in the app? Is it me, or is it Illustrator?
View 19 Replies View RelatedWhat is happening is whenever I use any transform tool in Photoshop it will freeze, the window won't go white like frozen windows normally do in W7 but it'll just sit there being completely unresponsive to clicks. The only way to quit is to go into the task manager. The other notable thing is whenever this happens I can't just restart Photoshop, I have to restart Windows completely! it even screws over other Adobe software, Dreamweaver won't work either once this error has occured.
Not only that but OpenGL never works anymore either, I can use Photoshop for like thirty minutes before OpenGL stops working. This one's obviously less intrusive but I still enjoy having the OpenGL features on.
The only other symptom I can think of is that once the issues start happening (or just before they're about to happen) the cursor will dart very quickly all over the screen. The actual clicks themselves will still happen in the right location but the visual cursor itself will constantly be moving, like half of the time it'll be in its right spot, the other half it'll be in a random position. I've tried unplugging both the tablet and the keyboard/mouse reciever but it still darts everywhere.
Everything else on the computer works fine, it's just Adobe software playing up.
I have tried:
- Adjusting performance options thoroughly
- Disabling graphic card features
- Reinstalling CS6
- Switching to 32 bit CS6
- Reverting back to CS5/CS3 (it still happens on those ones too)
- Trying four different versions of video drivers (320.18, 314.22, 310.70, 306.23)
- Reinstalling Windows 7

- Gigabyte GV-N56GOC-1GI Overclocked GTX 560 1GB
- Gigabyte H61M-S2P-B3 LGA1155
- Kingston 8gb 1333mhz ddr3

On my previous version of PS, I had full control over the Crop tool. I could control the width and length of the cropping area I chose.
I now have a new version, CS5 Extended, but the Crop tool only works in an "automatic" way. The tool itself selects the box shape, which is never the shape I want. How I can rectify this?
I can't seem to use the adjustment tools in RAW editing of JPEG's. An error message comes up.."Unable to create local adjustments. All the local adjustment controls are set to have no effect on the image". These are tools I have been using regularly and all other tools work. I have shut off my MAC and rebooted but still get this message. How can I reenable these adjustment tools??
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Multileader Align tool for my labels and it works great as long as my labels are left justified. I noticed this issue has been brought up before but didn't know a way to make it work for right justified text.
My problem is this: right justified text will not justify properly. It will not justify the same way that left justified text does. If you can follow this, leaders that have text that are left-justified will align according to their leader lines and everything looks neat and correct. The leaders that are right justified do not align properly because they align to the left side of the text. See the following screen shots and you'll understand...

I have added a Layer Mask to the new layer and I'm trying to use the Brush Tool with black forground to cover part of the new layer. I'm following an online tutorial step by step, but when I try to use the Brush Tool I get "could not use color replacement tool because it only works in full color mode". The Image>Mode is set to RGB.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 4 onto my Macbook pro and when I try to use the adjustment brush the cursor that normally turns to a brush when you hover any part of the photograph only changes at the very edges of the picture. When I move the cursor towards the center of the photo the cursor changes back to an arrow and I cannot make any adjustments. If I start an adjustment at the edge of the photo I can drag it into the center of it, but I cannot release and then do any further painting in that region. At the point where the brush icon changes the cursor becomes a small arrow that points to the edge of the frame and if I hold down the left mouse button and move to the transition line it becomes a double facing arrow, I can then drag the area I can work in to make it even smaller, but I cannot increase the area.

In all previous versions, I was able to use my Logitech scroll device to adjust the sliders in the development panel. In the 4.4 version, the scroll wheel no longer works and instead of adjusting an individual slider, it scrolls the whole development panel up and down. I did uninstall the mouse driver and reinstalled but that did not work. The mouse works just fine in all other programs. I think it is a bug with the 4.4 version. I am operating in Windows 7.

I can use the paintbucket tool to fill in a regular solid colour, but when I try and use the gradient tool it fills the entire window with a gradient. How can I fill a particular part of the image with a gradient (it's also not really possible to use the marquee tool).
2. My image has some 'broken' shapes that floods out the whole image when I use the paintbucket fill. Is there a setting so that small gaps can be ignored and therefore no bleeding occurs (such as there is in Flash MX)?
