View 3 RepliesHow to invert (inverse) a selection. Here is what I did:
*Selection made via a channel
*With the selection still visible, I created a hue/saturation adjustment layer. This then only changed only the the image area that was selected, as was expected.
*I next chose the "inverse" command under "select"
I went back to the hue/saturation adjustment but the same part of the image as before was effected, same as prior to my "inverse" command. I DID observe that the selection had changed when I chose "inverse," but the adjustment did not effect the new "inverse" part of the image.
When I wish to select a detail within an image and right click to make the selection Photoshop CC automatically selects the inverse of the image, including the entire canvas. The edges of the canvas are not always visible when working in close-up. This has resulted in some close calls when appling color or airbrushing.Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe lasso selection tool in PSE9 is malfunctioning. When I draw a selection, I immediately get a message saying: "Warning: No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visible."
Â
This is the kind of message I would normally get when I select wrong numbers for feathering. But now the message comes up when I use the lasso tool to try to select an area. When I hit cancel the message, the selection disappears. But the pulldown menu shows that I can "deselect." When I do that, and start all over, I get the same problem.
Â
I quit and restarted PSE9 to try to fix this but it didn't work. Then I restarted my Mac computer, but that didn't fix it either
When I select a hatch or polyline or any object with grips for that matter, and hold down shift to select multiple grips on the object or objects and then press my middle mouse button to pan or scroll it to zoom, the grips that I have selected de-select, meaning I have to set up the view so that all the grips I want to move are visible before selecting them.
This is only happening on some drawings (although it is most of them) and only when I use 2012 not 2011. Which system variable it is that has gone screwy that I need to reset? or is it something else?
I am trying to select the outline of a person AND the space between the person's arm and side (person has hand on side). I outlined the person then tried to use Add To Selection and it does not work.

Is it possible to leave them in selection mode.
I want to this, because it will be better to use Editor.SelectImplied() instead of saving the last selection object Ids.
Using the selection tool i should be able tp reduce or shrink the size of the box or an image as a whole without changing the format. Iam not able to do that. I think i disabled something in my illustrator.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to cut out a bridge stock today, and all of my selection tools are suddenly acting psychotic. Whether it's a lasso or a marquee tool, they all give me this result when I try to select something:
I haven't trying restarting Photoshop, but I just wanted to know how to fix this and how I can prevent it from happening again.
I'm new to the CS6 interface. In the past this was my process to make add a gradient overlay adjustment to a portion of a layer:
Â
1. Make a selection on a layer
2. Go to the Layers Panel > Select 'fx' menu
3. Choose 'Gradient Overlay' and go from there
Â
Result: a Gradient Overlay adjustment layer with a clipping mask applied to the layer below.
Â
Now in CS6 when I follow this process, it does not automatically create a clipping mask from my selection and make a new adjustment layer with the clipping mask. Instead, it applies the Gradient Overlay to the entire layer. It does this for any option in the 'fx' menu in the Layers Panel. It behaves the same as it did before with any of the options in the Adjustment Layer, however.
I can select individual layers either in the Layer Palette or on the canvas with no problem. It's when I use the selection tool with Shift, Cntrl, or Alt that I cant get more than one layer selected. I want to group and lock layers together so I can scale down the group to a maller image size.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI do have some issues with the inverse selection. Once I finished using "Pen Tool" and all dots have been connected I go to Select-Inverse to select the image but unfortunately the"Inverse" is grayed out. I remebere having this issue few years ago . I did called the Adobe Tech Support and have been navigated to the program folder to replace some of the files that have been corrupted. After that everything was working fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedPeriodically I am having problems selecting text! I will select my text tool and go to edit text and the type tool changes back to the selection tool. I have to fiddle around an click on different layers then go back to the type tool and then it will start working. I am not the only person in my company who switched to CS6 and is experiencing issues with this new program running slow. Switing from layer folders also causes thing to freeze up. I am running off a Mac Book pro with OS Lion 10.7.4. I uploaded CS6 just over a week ago.I only used the CS5.5 trial version so there should not be a conflicting problem with a CS6 trial version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince version CS it was very easy working with paths with the direct selection tool. I just upgraded to Photoshop CC, and noticed this annoying bug:
When I select and anchor point using the Direct Selection Tool, I can no longer de-select it clicking inside the shape. This is so frustrating when working with icons.
Â
I used to grab the Path Selection Tool to select the entire vector shape, then I switched to the Direct Selection Tool if I wanted to modify a specific anchor point. All I needed to do was clicking inside the shape, then select the anchor point I wanted to work with. Now if I switch from the Path tool to the Direct Selection one, if I click inside the shape it doesn't deselect anything, if I click on an anchor point, it doesn't deselect the other anchor points. I figured out that if I click on the path of a different vector shape, then I can go back and select an anchor point on the vector shape I was working with, but it's too much work for de-selecting a point. Is it a bug or a new way Photoshop CC behaves?
my inverse select keystroke no longer works (shift+ctrl+i), from the menu it works fine though.
Is there some preference somewhere that I may have changed somehow, this is with PS7, no updates.
If I save a path as a clipping path and then import said path into Quark, I'm getting the background, not the selected cutout. Basically I'm getting the inverse of my path selection. I figure there must be a key command for this because it only started happening today.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf i want to change the color of a selection of my pic, I add an adjustment layer (hue sat e.g.)... at the moment, I have to make my whole layer black, and paint the selection i want white so I can adjust its color.. is there anyway I can inverse this? so I just paint the selection I want to change, without making everything black first?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I fill a closed path, it fills the inverse of the path instead. YES, "add to path area" is selected on the options toolbar rather than "subtract from path area". Also, I know I could just make a selection from the path, invert the selection, and then fill it. But that would be taking 3 steps to do something that should take one step, and it's slowing me down a lot.
Â
Is there some default setting that I accidentally toggled or something?
I am unable to use the keyboard shortcut for "select inverse" (ctrl+shift+I).
I've tried re-installing as well...
After install the Orgainzer works but the Photo Editor doesn't. When I click the Photo Editor in the splash screen it tells me my trial period is up. I'm using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit
View 5 Replies View RelatedThroughout a project using Photoshop CS4, I print out the pages to make a dummy booklet. Once, upon opening the file and wanting to print, the preview window for Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer showed a color inverse for the entire file. Viewing the images is normal in all ways. I had been making routine nudging, text editing, etc., on various layers and everything looked and behaved fine. It's only in the printing. I looked to see where a correction could be made, but I can't see anything. I tried to have the printer make color adjustments and have Photoshop make them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working in AutoCAD 2011 and, all of a sudden, both left- and right-click stopped working properly.
Right clicking only repeats the last command, either with or without any object selected, even though my personal customized preference has been set to Edit when an object is selected.
But most worrisome is the left-clicking situation. Double left-clicking does nothing, instead of the usual editing it had been doing all these years.
When I single-left-click an object, it seems to select it (grips appear and the object lines appear dashed, just as usual), but if I want to do something afterwards, it does nothing. For example, I select (single-left-click) an object and press the delete button, and it does nothing. Also, despite the object being selected (in appearance at least), I noticed that the "Layer" and "Properties" toolbars don't change, thus, not displaying the correct layer and other properties of the said object.
The way around this seems to be to type the command first and then select objects (which means that the commands work properly). But after more than ten years working the other way, you can imagine this slows me the hell down, almost to a point of continuous stand-still.
Also, we opened other programs to see if the mouse and keyboard were simlutaneously broken down. Of course theye weren't and, in the other programs, left- and right-click and "delete" funcitons were working properly.
if i'll press DEL button it'll not delete or E+Enter same it will not erase. after slection Commond is not working first i need to run commond then work so i want to slect then if i use any commond it should be work

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe answer to this post is not the pickfirst variable. I select text, a line, anything really then right click, copy and nothing it loses the selection set and waits for me to now select something. I know it sounds like pickfirst, but pickfirst is set to 1.

I am having problems with the selection commands,
Ctrl + A
Deselect all as they seem to be unknown commands? (Quick select in properties does work) I have loaded my own profile (but have used the default profile aswell to check, still no joy)
