Photoshop :: PSCS4: Owl Orphanage Message
Dec 5, 2008
I have just installed PSCS4. The first time or two it launched without a hitch.
Now when I launch it I get two messages before it is apparently stable. The first message is: "Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe unable to locate command. This application failed to start because CoreFoundation.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." Click OK to acknowledge this message three times and the following message appears. "Could not load MMX Core Routines module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop." Acknowledge this message once and Photoshop CS4 loads apparently OK.
I reran the installation and still get the same messages.
I am running WindowsXPSP3 on an Intel Core2Duo. Photoshop CS3 is also installed on this machine.

I have Vista Home Premium, 32 bit. I've downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS4 (I'm a first-time user of this program), but on opening it I always receive an 'Owl Orphanage' message (in Italian; I have the Italian version of Vista) telling me that it is impossible to find the file M2000Twn.dll. Photoshop nevertheless opens, but this message is annoying. Is there any way to stop it from appearing. I've done a search, and the driver M2000Twn.dll is in fact present on my computer.

For some reason PSCS4 has lost the connection to my Epson V100 scanner. I have reinstalled the scanner twice. All other applications can find it, but not PS.

While working on a complex project with PSCS4 that involved copying and pasting from numerous open documents, I have been receiving an error message shown in the link. PS then shuts down with loss of my data.
I'm running Windows XP Pro with a dual Xeon processor workstation with 2GB of error correcting memory. PS3 and other applications have been working properly.
Any suggestions other than going back to PS3?

I currently have a Lenovo X61T Tablet PC and I am testing out Photoshop CS4.When I try to set the brush to be pressure sensitive I get the little "!" icon displayed saying that I must have a tablet installed for this feature to work.I also have the FREE program of “Paint.net” installed on this tablet pc and that is able to detect the pressure sensitivity perfectly. So I would have thought this would rule out any driver issue as the functionality is working its just that Photoshop doesn’t seem to detect it and enable it.

When I use the image processor in PSCS4 to process a large number of raw files using ACR 5.1 (Nikon D3 NEFs), I consistently receive an error message after about 10-11 files have been processed that the instruction at 0x696336ab tried to read memory at 0x6C (or thereabouts) and the memory could not be read. I am saving as JPEGs with the color space set to sRGB.
I de-installed and reinstalled PSCS4, but the error persists. The image processor worked fine with PSCS3. A workaround that solves the problem is to process the files as a batch using a simple action to accomplish the task.
I am running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 with a dual Xeon processor and 2G of error correcting memory.

I am hoping someone can help me out with this problem!
I have Adobe CS4 with Photoshop v11.0.1 loaded on a Dell Optiplex 755 running WinXP Pro SP3 with 2.66 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM, 150 GB hard drive. It has been running without issue for a few months now.
Yesterday, when trying to open PS, I had a string of error messages pop up in succession immediately after the "Welcome" screen appeared. As I clicked "OK" (the only option I had) on one, another would appear. This happened NINE times! And, it continues to happen each time I open Photoshop now.
The error reads:
Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe Bad Image
The application or DLL C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS4Plugins [add below here] is not a valid Windows Image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Where the [add below here] is located in the above message, each of the following items comes up (in the order they are listed below) minus the ellipsis at the beginning.
Alias.8BI
Bigger Tiles.8BX
ElectricImage.8BI
HSBHSL.8BF
JPEG2000.8BI
RLA.8BI
SGIRGB8BI
SoftImage.8BI
Texture Fill.8BF
I am baffled, confused, and frustrated! I haven't used Photoshop extensively since this began so I don't know if it is causing other problems within the program or not.
Anyone with ideas? Any suggestions?

Each Time I try to boot Photoshop CC I get the missing DLL message. It tells me to try reinstalling but I've already done this twice over the last month for other reasons. If I click OK on the error message 4-5 times it goes away and PS CC boots up. I'm using 64bit PS CC in Windows 7 on a Dell XPS with a nVidia graphics card.

One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop.
Is there a problem or is this just a bug in Photoshop? I don't have any problems other than the error message. The version is: 12.0.4x64.

I am running PS CS4 Win Vista.I have 3G RAM and have designated plenty of available space for scratch disks(298G on C:, 66G on J: and 231G on M:, the latter two being external HDs).
When I attempt to use some of the advanced features of CS 4, especially Content Aware Scaling, I get the insufficient RAM message every time without fail.
MY HD is regularly defragmented and I have purged, lowered the History states allowed, and cleaned out all temp files from IE.
Any deas how I can avoid the RAM message and use the features in CS4?

Adobe Update Manager says all programs up to date. Crashes most frequently occur when using Blur or other Filters. 12.0.4 says it applies to AMD Catalyst, but my PC has Intel processor. It says it applies to CS6, but I have PS 5.1.

Just got CS 6 (not extended) When I click Oil Paint Filter I get the following msg.
The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check manufacturer for the latest software.
Is it my graphics card. If so, how do I check to see what I have? I have an HP about three years old.

After saving a slice with message text, I'm still not seeing any text show up as I view the file in Safari (or Firefox or Chrome). I even built a dreamweaver page - in order to "export" the file. When I test the appearance using Dreamweaver browser mode, I still do not see any message text when hovering over the graphic with the mouse. What am I missing???
