To transform patterns but not objects when using a transform tool, hold down the tilde key (~) while dragging. The borders of the object appear to be transformed, but when you release the mouse button, the borders snap back to their original configuration, leaving only the pattern transformed. URL..
It seems this shortcut works only with US and UK keyboard.
I'm using a french keyboard where it doesn't work, probably because there is'nt any key especially dedicated to the Tilde sign (~), and you need to combine multiple keys to get this symbol (Alt GR + the key 2 above the key Z) .
I finally found the shortcut on MAC which is the keyboard key with the britisih pound sterling symbol (£). But not on PC !!!how to get this shortcut on PC with a french keyboard ?
Is there a way to change the shortcut for this very useful option, without having to take care of the kind of keyboard ?

Apr 3, 2013I am using cs6 on a macbook pro with retina (dunno if that matters).
i noticed a while ago that the sizes of my documents in photoshop are smaller than normal. Im not sure if this is a resolution issue, but in illustrator, indesign, after effects everything looks normal sized. I am trying to create a thumbnail in ps that is 310x225px. When I place the psd in illustrator it becomes 74.4x54px. Creating a new document in ps with both resolitions 72 and 300 result in the same size artboard. I'm not sure if this is something simple I am overlooking, but I don't want to have pixelated thumbnails in my mockup. There must be something I can change to make photoshop create normally sized images.

Jan 27, 2013This may seem a strange question, but I do not work with images very often and having just returned from holiday in NZ (how privileged you are to live there Ken) I have some 30GB of video and almost 1000 images to edit.
These images are 16:9 4000x2248, 180 dpi and 24 bit depth, so is there an optimum resolution that these should be reduced to, for creating projects in conjunction with the video (1280x720 HD 59fps) I read some time ago that images need to be reduced in size, but I can't remember why.

May 30, 2012I have a roll formed sheet metal part set to use a k factor of .5. The blank size should be (hand calculated) 7.924. Inventor is giving me 7.892. I made a new part with the exact same geometery as the first and set it to also use a .5 k factor, this one develops correctly to 7.924.
I checked all the dimensions multiple times. What am I missing here?

Dec 19, 2007I have set up an A3 size print style (420x297mm) with 5mm margins all around. i am plotting a drawing to its extents (400x277mm) which should leave 5mm between the drawing extents and the page margins. when i preview the page it looks perfect. however when i open the created .pdf the result is somewhat different. the spacing left to right is spot on but vertically the drawing is off the top of the page approximatly 15mm. i have tried many things to try centre the page but the closest i can get it is a 13mm margin at the bottom and 2mm margin at the top, achieved by unchecking the centre the plot box and inputting 0 for the y offset.

Nov 18, 2011I need to change the hatch size (not the pattern scale or space, juste the hatch size).
Exemple : I have a circle, and a hatch inside the circle. The radius of the circle is 10, so the radius of the hatch is 10 too.
What i want to do is to make the hatch smaller (or bigger) like this : Circle radius : 10, Hatch Radius 5 (or 15).
My first idea was to recreate a new circle with radius 5, and a new hatch inside and then erase the second circle. It works, but not very effective in my case.
So, it's why i came here to ask if there is any solutions to make this faster, easier, without having to recrate another hatch, another circle...

Apr 30, 2013After having a formed sheet metal part finish the wrong size (.100" long on all sides), I discovered a glitch with the sheet metal flat patterns sizes being.
I created two identical parts, one in IV2013 and one in IVP2014, and came up with two different flat patterns. The two parts are 100% identical. The volume is identical for both, and I did an assembly overlay to double check (everything lined up perfect). However, the flat pattern on the IV2014 part was 0.130" shy of what it should be (total length in both directions).
I haven't been able to recreate this (happened with this part and with a different part that we had formed), but you shouldn't ever have to worry about something like this. I created the same part in 2014 for a second time from scratch and it then came out to the correct dimensions, which worries me even more that this is an intermittent problem.
The JUNK file is the one with the incorrect length.
Also, another IVP2014 issue I have been having is when saving a drawing as an AutoCAD drawing it saves it as a 2013 AutoCAD in a zip file instead of a 2007 as a normal file like I have it set up to. If I click "Options" when saving, then click cancel without selecting anything, it saves it correctly.

For example, I have drawn a shape with my Wacom tablet using a blush. I then converted it to a shape instead of keeping it a stroke by expanding it. I can do this in paper space (viewports) as the annotative scale controls the appearance, but for doing analysis of points at various zooms in model space, it would be nice to be able to Regen and have them all come to a certain text size.
I've made some expressions that are modifications of those I use in paper space, but I can't seem to find a function/variable that I can reference for this purpose.

3ds Max :: How To Light A Sphere From Inside To See Inside Surface
Oct 17, 2011I have a really large sphere and have put a camera on the inside to see the inside surface. I have used the normal modifier to flip the normals and so have the skin on the inside. Something is going very wrong at this point because I have this ugly shadow line that I cannot get rid of and I also seem to not be able to light this interior, when I use an omni light it makes no difference. Where am I going wrong?

Feb 8, 2013I have this strange situation.. i use the Arial font inside my cad drawings and when i print my paperspace layout, the text inside the viewport is a little bit more "bold" then the text i put directly on paper space.
Maybe it's a trick to know what text is placed where, but i want all this to be uniform, same thickness. Is there a system variable to correct that issue?

Up to COUPE C1 is the text inside the viewport, under COUPE C1is the paperspace text. Both are the same height... but difference tickness.
