Photoshop :: Multiple Fade To Transparent Gradient On One Image
Aug 21, 2006
I am having a little trouble trying to add multiple fade to transparent gradients appear in a single image. Here are the steps I have done so far:
Create a new vector with the photo unlocked
Add a layer mask
use the black to white gradient, so the edge of the photo is completely translarent and as you move to the center, it slowly reveals the photo.
I used this technique I found online for one edge of the photo and it worked great, untill I tried the second gradient on the same photo, and the first one I did disappeared. I guess Photoshop only lets you have one.
The next thing I tried is to create another vector mask and create another gradient, but it did not work at all. Also, Photoshop only lets you have two vector masks per layer, so That wont do me much good if I need 4 gradients, each one fading to transparent around the 4 edges of the photo.
Any solution would be greatly appreciated. I plan to take the photo that has the fade to transparent gradients and copy it to another background image with some text.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Jake

I cam across this image which has a gradient bar at the top, and
fades out to the background. I'm totally stumped on how to do this.
I tried Gradient Fade Out To Foreground and Gradient to Transparent, but
neither worked!

I am trying to recreate a tilt shift effect on a photo but I cannot use a gradient except once and then it cancels out the first when I try to add a second blur in an opposite corner. How do I add multiple gradient to the same image?

This is probably a really basic one - and I'm sure I've read how to do this here before in a really simple way, but I can't re-find the post after some time searching: I have two photos side by side on two different layers, and I simply want to create a fade between one and the other over an overlapping area of about 10mm. I have tried selecting one layer, and using the gradient tool, but I am doing something wrong as this seems to affect all layers; ie it works fine on one layer, but the other layer gets faded out too. I'm sure I have to create a new layer or something and perform the gradient on that, or maybe I have the wrong gradient settings.
Or do I process both photos in separate files, and then bring them in to a new file and overlap them?

I have a layer and I want it to fade to transparent (using the gradient tool?). Last time I did this, I used masks of some type, but forgot to make notes on what I did... Can someone point me in the right direction?

I would like to know how to change the colour of a single layered, single coloured gradient (foreground to transparent) image. There is nothing more to it than that other than I don't want to use the hue/saturation adjustment as it's hard to get a specific colour.

On screen this show when doing a simple layer mask fade with the gradient tool. (notice the hard transition in the black) The if I flatten it it looks fine, like this.
I don't understand why all of a sudden it is doing this, same with brushes. Just seems to happen in the layer mask which is really deceiving.

I can only use the gradient tool in one instance. After that, the first instance is removed and replaced with the new instance. How can I apply multiple instances of the gradient tool on the same image?

I have a photo that Iwant to look more natural by fading the corners out to transparent so it doesn't look like a square photo.
Here is an example.
I want it to be somewhat like this where the background of the image is like a gradient to transparent.

I have never had this issue until CS6. I do have a Retina Macbook Pro too. Basically though, I'm building a website and need to fade out a texture to transparent. I usually do this and it works fine, but right now it is going almost straight to transparent it isn't a smooth gradual gradient.

Hey, I'm having troubles with applying a gradient tool to a rectangular marquee in Photoshop CS3 for Mac OS X 5.8. Instead of getting a black color to fade into the background, I just get the black color.
And I'm click and dragging about 1.5 inches long. Sometimes I end up covering the entire picture with that color, not just the object (even though the object is selected). Gradient maps and layer masks don't seem to work.

I have a nicely edited series of videos fading into each other in the video track, and would like to have a series of photographs fade in and out in the overlay track. Fade to Black or dissolve dont achieve the affect I want where we can see the underlying video between photos.

I have seen several instructions on how to fade a picture to transparent. How I can fade a picture to the exact color of the background, i.e. the edge of the picture disappears and smoothly transitions into the background color? All fading I have tried sofar still leaves an edge of the picture visible, contrasting with the background.

I would like to add some black boarders to my fotos that fade to transparent. a little bit like this [URL]But with the difference that I dont need the boarders to be really really dark. they sould be more transparent where I can still see some of the details of the foto layer beneath. The idea is more to give my pictures some slightly darker boarders so that I can print them out and they look somehow similar when I put them on the wall...
So theoretically i thought of adding a new layer, make a rounded selection, invert the selection and use the blend tool from black to transparent (if this is somehow possible). But maybe there is an easier or better way or maybe there exist some additonal plugins where I can do some simple foto things like that with a already existing filter?

I have a gradient in CS6 which I have set from 0% white to 100% Spot Color then back to 0% white as I want the gradient to be transparent at the edges.
For some reason the 0% is not displaying as transparent on the screen, even though in the Gradient editor it does show the transparency is there.

I need to create a 3000px by 1340px PNG that vertically graduates from 100% opacity black to 0% opacity black.
No matter how I create it I experience banding (demo attached).
Adding noise/blur or changing dither and bit settings do not work. It's not a monitor issue.

I've had the hobby of graphic design for a while now. Recently, I've been trying to recreate things like flyers and websites for entertainment.
I'm currently trying to recreate a professional photo booth flyer. I'm having trouble recreating the dark to transparent gradient in the footer. Here's the original flyer:
[URL]...........
Whenever I try to recreate this effect, it ends up being very sudden and unappealing. Here's an example (note that it is unfinished, leaving some areas white):

Is there any better way of doing this gradient effect (or does it even need to be fixed, for that matter?).

I have created a gradient background in photoshop and positioned this on my webpage using css.
I thought it would be nice to create some page titles in photoshop instead of using regular fonts.
Something that has always stumped me, is whenever I have created text on top of a transparent background using photoshop, saved for web, gif @ 256 colours and applied to the webpage, no matter what I do the text always look frazzled around the edges. Is there a technique to creating transparent text that looks smooth?
Do I need to increase the dpi?

I have a webpage that has a gradient background that extends down the page at least 800 px and is set to repeat-x. I have an auto centerd column which has a background applied to it. The background is set to repeat-y. The center column has a dropshadow applied all the way around it. The problem is that I am not able to get the drop shadow to blend in with the gradient as the page grows. Initially at the top of the gradient where it, the gradient, is the darkest, the drop shadow blends in. But as the gradient moves down, i.e., becomes lighter, the drop shadow ceases to blend in any more. is it possible to solve this problem? If so then how?
