Photoshop :: Making Photos Web Ready In An Automated Batch File

Dec 12, 2008

I've got a number of images that are 300dpi which I need to save for the web. I've been able to take one image and change the dpi to 72 and then go into Image Ready and shrink the size some more. I've tried to automate the process but after I run a batch I actually get the files back double their original size. What might I be doing wrong here? I'm using PS 7 and, while in no way a professional, I can get by... except for this bit obviously! So, what's the best way to automate the process of turning my files into nice, lean web-ready images?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Running A Batch File - Automated Process?

Aug 15, 2012

I have a batch program which I want to launch from a LISP program.

First this is an attempt at an automated process whereby user input is extremely restricted. Other than the first click of the mouse on the menu item to save a copy of the file to a very restricted folder, no other user input is allowed.

AutoCAD, like most commercial apps writes a temporary file and then renames it when you choose save or saveas. And due to the restrictions in this folder that will not work. Crazy, I know but it's the parameters I must work within.

The batch file I'm launching calls another batch program in it's execution and I'm wondering if that could be where control is lost. But the thing is I can type this at the command line in AutoCAD:

(startapp "//a_very_long/novell_server_path/my_folder/vlisp/mybatchfile.bat")

The whole process works great. The command window flashes briefly AutoCAD closes the active drawing window just like I want it to. And when I check that the dwg file has been copied to the restricted folder it's there and done. But when I place that same command within my LISP program or one like this:

(command "._STARTAPP" "CMD //a_very_long/novell_server_path/my_folder/vlisp/mybatchfile.bat")or(command "._STARTAPP" "CMD ""//a_very_long/novell_server_path/my_folder/vlisp/mybatchfile.bat"")

or just about anything else I try it fails to run. Perhaps I've been looking at this problem too long. I think I may move on to a VB.NET process to do this but I am really baffled why it will run from the command line but not within the program.

Photoshop :: CS5 - Making Camera-Ready PDF

Feb 23, 2012

I created a letterhead in Photoshop CS5, 8.5x11, 300 DPI, CMYK. All it consists of is a logo in the corner and a footer with some text. The layers have not been merged.

When I go to save as a PDF, exactly what settings do I need to set to make sure this is "camera-ready" for professional printing (Kinkos, etc.)

Press Quality preset seems like a given.

Photoshop :: Can Change Resolution Of Photo Without Losing Quality For Retina Ready Photos

Sep 4, 2013

I would like to prepare some photos for Retina display screens (not for printing) and was told that in order to do this, I need to increase the resolution of my images from 72dpi to 240dpi.

Many of my original photos are 3000 x 1875 pixel size at 72dpi resolution. What I wanted to know is that if I uncheck 'resample image' in the 'image size' dialogue box and increase the resolution from 72dpi to 240dpi, will my image suddenly be Retina ready without ANY loss of quality?

I find it hard to get my head around the fact that you can simply raise the resolution of an image in this way with no adverse affect to the quality.

Photoshop :: Moving File From PS To Image Ready

Jun 7, 2006

I have been working on a document that i had made a long time ago, i have updated it and changed the scale and moved different images and deleted layers and so on, this is all fine in photoshop, see below image:

But when i move the file across into image ready, somehow image ready remembers the previous state of the image and brings in the old rollovers and old layers that correspond with those rollovers, see below image:

My question is, without having to spend ages in image ready tidying up the position of layers and deleting images, and basically doing all of the things i originally did qwith the image, how do i get image ready to open my photoshop document as i have it in photoshop, bear in mind i have deleted all of the slices in the document.

Photoshop :: Batch Change Year Photos Were Taken

Apr 6, 2013

I  took a week worth of vacation photos before realizing the wrong year was set in my digital camera.

When I open the files in Photoshop, and go to "File > File info" the year is  wrong on

Description tab: Created field
Audio Date tab: Created Date field
Origin tab: Date Created field
IPTC tab: Date Created field

I did File > File Info > changed the year.

When I do the steps one at a time, the year fields are changed properly.

I recorded an ACTION that run the same commands.

But when I run the action, the year fields remain unaltered.

Whats going on?

Photoshop :: Batch Conversion Of All Photos To 8x6 Ratio

Jan 19, 2006

I have a folder full of images and I'd like them all to be in the 8x6 ratio, with white as the background if any canvas size needs to be changed. I can do a batch and make every picture a canvas size of 800x600, but if the original is 1100x240 that doesn't help me much, I'll loose alot of the image's width.

So I just want to convert the image's canvas size to be in the ratio of 8x6. Is this possible with Photoshop CS or Photoshop CS2?

Photoshop :: Crop And Resize Portrait Photos In A Batch?

Sep 16, 2013

I have several hundred small portrait photos of different size that I need to resize to a 120 x 120 pixels size. Currently they are not 1:1. I've previously used Picasa to resize images manually, and this gives me the opportunity of easily crop and resize so that the face is not cut or looks too small. But I need to do this in a batch since I have a huge amount of pictures. So far I haven't been able to figure out if Photoshop can detect the face automatically and crop/resize around it. The batch processes I have tried to create end up with the face/head being cut on several pictures.

I'm using Photoshop CC.

Photoshop :: Making Photos Cartoonish

Mar 22, 2006

How do they make actual pictures look cartoonish? Not like Mickey Mouse or anything rather more based on the picture. I'm trying to Google it but I don't know the technique name. I've noticed this technique on alot of hip-hop album covers.I'll see if I can find one and post it. Here is an example of what I mean. I know that they didn't draw this (well atleast i assume not)

I reckon it has something to do with a filter as I remember dabbling once before. The closer I have gotten was using the Stylize>Find Edges filter and then overlaying that with a duplicate of the picture with the blending mode set to color.

Photoshop Elements :: Making Small Photos Larger To Be Used In Slideshow

Jan 4, 2014

I am using Photoshop elements 10 with windows 7 on my Toshiba laptop.

I am trying to make a slide show of photos for my brother's funeral. The photos will be shown on a screen at the church and on a TV monitor at home. I was used to Photoshop 4, but had purchased but not really used Photoshop Elements 10. I am about 1000 miles away from home so I cannot go back to try to using Photoshop 4 which is not on this laptop.  I don't think I want to change (i.e. resample) the pixels, etc.

I have put into order all of the photos.  However,  the photos are of varying sizes.  The photos taken digitally are fine.  However, I have a lot of photos take a long time ago for like 3X3 or 2X3, i.e. like in the 50's - 90's, which were scanned. Then provided to me in a variety of ways. Coming to me they are small on the page. ie like in one corner. I am not trying to shrink these photos.  I am trying to resize them larger.  And probably get rid of most of the white background.

Paint.NET :: Batch Resizing Photos?

Feb 28, 2011

Is there a way to Batch-Resize photos?

I have 160+ photos of different sizes (but mostly 1600 x 1200). I'm running them in a loop for my screensaver. I transferred them to my cellphone, to be used as wallpaper, but they're too big to fit the screen. I can only see a portion of the image. So I'd like to reduce the size for them all, without having to do each one individually (and tediously).
