I guess I can best describe the vision of having a boat cruise across the intro page screen with the wave it creates behind it.

3ds Max Modeling :: Lofting A Boat Hull
Jun 10, 2008I have spent some time over the last few days attempting to create a boat hull by lofting sections along a line representing the center line of the hull, but I'm not having much luck. The shape that is created appears to be rotated some weird way, and I just can't seem to get a handle on what is going on. The section splines were created in the Front view, the path was created in the Top view. The section shapes were then placed in the Left view to correspond to their location along the hull.
My question is this: where can I find a tutorial that deals with boat hulls and lofting specifically, or failing that.

Dec 28, 2012I am drawing the hull of a plywood hard chine boat with Inventor.
Basically there are a number of boat stations that are drawn in as sketches on parallel and spaced planes. Stations are drawn as series of straight line segments representing the hard chine technique used for this particular boat.
The plank is created as a lofted surface passing through each corresponding straight line segment of all stations.Surface is then thickened and it becomes a sheet metal.
I am unable to unfold or better to create a flat pattern from the sheet metal. The program correctly complains about the lack of bends in the sheet metal: there are infacts no bends as the plank is a continuous curved surface of which I would like to obtain a flat template for CNC cutting.
I doubt the problem comes from compound twisting/stretching of the surface since the stations' geometry comes from an existing design of which several hundred plywood boats have actually been built.

Photoshop :: Stacking Layers Top-to-tail To Create Long Banner Print Of Software Code?
Aug 31, 2013I have lots of software code (in tSQL, html, JavaScript, XAML, and C#) that I need to print in a long scroll. The scroll will be no more than 440mm wide and as long as it needs to be (though the roll of paper is 45 m long so I’ll need to make sure it is shorter than that).
The resulting code listing is to from part of an exhibit contrasting the ‘sketching’ phase in a multidisciplinary project between design, social science, and software engineering. The exhibit will form part of the Research Through Design conference [URL]...
At first I thought I’d print straight from the development environment (Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio) but I realise now that is not possible because
1) Both tools assume standard page sizes, and
2) I need to rotate the software code listing 180 degrees so that the end of the listing is at the tail of the paper roll.
For these reasons I’m doing it in Adobe Photoshop (CS5, 64 bit, on Windows 8).My workflow for this is verging on the ridiculous.
1) If I cut-and-paste the code listings file by file from Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio into Photoshop (or Illustrator) I lose the formatting, for example the coloring of comments differently form variable declarations. (See [URL]...)
Thus Step 1 is to cut-and-paste each file into a Microsoft Word document.
2) If I cut-and-paste from the Microsoft Word document into Photoshop I still loose the formatting, and Microsoft Word does not seem to be able to cope with the paper roll nor rotating the print. So I save the Microsoft Word document as a PDF and open that into Photoshop.
3) I now have 51 Photoshop files each with one layer containing the text for that ‘page’, though I think it’s an image as it is not editable as text. I then save each of these files.
4) Using Adobe Bridge I open all 51 Photoshop files created in Stage 3 and “Load Files into Photoshop Layers” so that I have a new single Photoshop file with all 51 text image layers in.
5) The layers sit on top of each other. What I need is for them to sit head-to-toe. I don’t know how to do this without spending a million years selecting layers and moving them by hand.
6) If I ever get Stage 5 done I will then group the 51 layers and rotate the result through 180 degrees.
7) I will then resize the result to have a width of 400mm and print the resulting file on our banner printer, having first calculated the resulting paper ‘height’ and turned off the automatic paper cutting.
So my questions are:
1) Is there a better way of doing this?
2) I can see the Photoshop actions that will align layers by their tops, their bottoms, or their centers but how do I automatically align them so that the bottom of layer 1 touches the top of layer 2, the bottom of layer 2 touches the top of layer 3, etc.?

My dragged point labels maintain their orientation, as I want, with Plan Readability set to False and Dragged State Components - Display set to As composed. But the leader tails are horizontal to the view rotation.

Sep 13, 2012Sometimes, not in every drawing, but in certain drawings when we draw a spline it creates a jog or tail.
So when we do the command spline and click the start point then move to do the next point it will have this jog or tail at the beginning of the spline. sometimes we get it at the beginning and sometimes at the end.
How do I make it stop? is there a setting that I need to change? We typically work on drawings from Architect / Engineers.
Illustrator :: How To Erase Portion Of Font Letter Tail
Nov 7, 2013I want (no need to!) erase the long tail 'f' on my this logo. So I added a white text box and filled it in. (see figure 2) That worked until I wanted to put the logo on a colored background.
I originally did this on Microsoft Word. The Illustrator people told me that this would work and so I spent a boatload of money this stay at home mom does not have.. and now I'm awfully frustrated because 14 hours later....lots of tutorials later. I'm back to square one.But, I did learn a lot of info that I don't need to know.
Besides the fact that I looked at about 5,000 different f's in fonts.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Model Tail Fin (vertical Stabilizer) For Aeromodel Design
Feb 7, 2013I was trying to model the tail fin(vertical Stabilizer) for an aeromodel design. I inherited a dwg file of the tailfin with some poorly defined ribs that shape the fin. The fin tapers back and up.
My problem - I need to put in a brace which starts from the front of the lowest rib and goes back and up to the front of the topmost rib. and a pair of slots similar to the ones already modeled but further up towards the front. I hoped that a sweep feature on the assembly would do it but i am unable to create a rail and constrain it properly.
Another issue i had was to model a plastic film covering for the fin. An aeromodel uses a heatshrink monokote film. How would i model something like that in inventor.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Finding Style For Weld Symbols And Weld Tail?
Aug 9, 2013I know you can change the leader style and the text style in a weld symbol...I can't seem to find a style for the parts?
Specifically I'm trying to change the color, I'd like the enirety of my weld callout to be a different color...just for visually tracking and locating on the drawings.
So if I change it to orange...right now the leader and text are orange but the weld symbol itself and the tail are still black.

Jul 2, 2005Ok after seeing the camera Ronmatt made and seen that others have also made cameras I'm going to try it. I've attached the camera I want to make! I've "read" tutorials, but have always been to chicken to actually attempt it....I've kept in the safety of Photo manipulation.
Ok I've got a question for people that have actually tried this photo realism stuff. When tutorials talk about adding a "gradient overlay"
they are talking about "layer style" / Gradient overlay right? as oposed to adjustment layer gradients or the Gradient tool right?
