Photoshop :: Mac CS2 - (cannot Open No Longer Supported By Power-PC)?
Aug 14, 2012
Just recently I tried to open my Photoshop CS2 and received a message saying cannot open no longer supported by PowerPC. What does this mean? Is this version officially defunct? If so what can I do so I won't have to buy Creative Suite again.
I get the 'can't open the app because PowerPC apps are no longer supported. I went to support and ran the script that was recommended. And I confirmed that com.apple.LaunchServices.plist is no longer in my pref file.
Bought Elements 4 in 2007 for my previous Power Mac and now just upgraded to a Macbook Pro and the program won't install . Get the message that this version no longer supported for new the Intel Chip Macs. I know the version is old but worked perfectly well for my purposes.
So do I just chuck that money away and fork out for another prologize? What is the next version?
Okay so LDD 09 will no longer be supported by why do we get a new version included with C3D 2013?The install package is larger than the original so there are some differences.
Been working on a file with a few layers, then the power goes out so my computer "crashes". When I reboot my computer, I am unable to open the file I was working on earlier and instead, get the message "Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document." The file is still .psd and I don't have a preview for the file anymore:
I have just installed CS5, and all components work except for Photoshop, which will not open. I am on a new Macbook Air running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 with 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5. The error message reads: "You can't open the application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I have already tried reinstalling and deleting the library file: com.apple.LaunchServices.plist and restarting. What can I do?
I've used CS5Extended and ACR for NEF images. I just switched to more recent PC, downloading PS, and it won't open NEF files, saying "camera model not supported by installed version of Camera Raw." It had no problem with my D800 on the previous PC. What do do?
I'm need to open an Amiga IFF file in Photoshop CS. I remember back in version 5.5 Photoshop supported IFF without any trouble, but now it's no longer listed in the file format list.
If there a way to get IFF and/or ILBM back into Photoshop CS?
I recently had a power failure while working in AICS5 on Mac OS 10.7.5. When I restarted, AI reopened and tried to open every file I've worked on, in the last month or so.
I just reinstalled PSE12 and LR5 and cannot open raw files in PSE12. The error message says my camera is not supported. Im using a Canon 70D, my raw format is CR2, and Elements tells my my Camera Raw plug-in is Version 8.
I downloaded all of the updates that I thought were necessary to be able to edit D600 raw files but they are still coming up as "Preview unavailable for this file" and saying it's not supported.
I have recently bought a new windows 7 computer, HP 1250ea it has a i7 processor and 6g memory.I then loaded PS CS3 which I have been using on my old XP PC for years and it would no longer open raw files. Both Bridge and PS give me the error message "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
I have version 4 camera raw and I cant seem to update it either by using the Help > Updates in PS or downloading the latest version from the Adobe Website...I am using a Canon 40D..
After recently installing Corel Draw 12 we discivered we could not open our existing .cdr files. It would make sense if we were trying to open V:12 files with an V:5 but it seems like V:12 should support V;5 .cdr files.
We have an iMac workstation here running Premiere that will not open projects or import clips. Here's the sequence of events that led to this:
1. Premiere was locking up on the splash screen whenever it got to "ImporterQuicktime.bundle". I tried trashing preferences and launching with plug-ins disabled and received the same freeze. Based on forum recommendations I removed "ImporterQuicktime.bundle" and "ExporterQuickTimeHost.bundle" from the plug-ins folder inside the package. The software launched fine - but none of the Quicktime files in the project were working. So I then took copies of the above 2 files from the iMac next to this one, with the exact same configuration, and pasted them into the plug-ins folder. Since then - launching the software has generated the below errors.
2. Attempting to open any project gives a long error that starts as: The preset used by one or more sequences in this project requires third-party components that could not be located.
3. Starting a new project and attempting to drag any Quicktime ProRes media into the project gives the error: File Format not supported.
I have trashed the preferences, re-installed the Pro Apps Quicktime Codecs, de-authorized the computer and re-authorized it, and upgraded Adobe Premiere from 7.0 to 7.2. None of which fixed the issue.
I'm thinking about trying a complete re-install of Premiere next.
Here's the details:

I've been working on a psb file for a couple of days in CS6 and this morning the file would no longer open. I get a dialogue box that says "the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop". I've been using the same version all along so I know this is not a version problem. My backup file has the same problem.
I can open a flattened version of the file in Illustrator CS6 but can't open a layered version. It would appear that the file has become corrupted in the layers somehow. how I might be able to fix the original psb file and resurrect the layers?
I have Nikon D60 and recently started shooting in raw when I discovered that Photoshop allows you to then edit the files to a much greater extent before converting them to .jpg.
.nef files used to open automatically in Photoshop (in a separate window, seemingly a sort of add-on designed for raw files?). Now when I try, the software tells me that they are 'the wrong kind of document'.
What's changed / broken? Or have I suddenly forgotten a vital step....?
I've tried downloading a newer version of camera raw, to no avail...
I had photoshop CS4, and it's been working fine since I've gotten it, but yesterday I started having this weird issue. I open it, it opens fine, then windows tells me photoshop has stopped working. I've restarted, re-installed and tried over and over, but it won't stay open for longer than 5 seconds. My mother gave me CS6 to replace CS4.
I am running Mac 10.6.8 and recently upgraded to PS6. I can no longer print to my Epson 3880 nor can I open NEF files. I have applied all udates from Apple, Epson and Adobe.
I've just recently purchased PSP X4 since they touted that it was much faster loading and more stable (X3 was horrible about crashing). I continue to be amazed at how they (Corel) can just keep digging a hole instead of actually improving this product. I can see why they continue to lose market share.
1) I can no longer open mulitple images at the same time for side-by-side comparison. The work area now will only accommodate 1 open file at a time. 2) I miss not having the file size included in the data box that appears when you hold the cursor over a thumbnail. It was always handy when downsizing (resizing) photos for posting. 3) It is a pain now to have to go back and forth from the "EDIT" tab to the "MANAGE" tab to view full-sized photos (without having to open one at a time). They really screwed the pooch in X2 or X3 (can't remember) when they got rid of the old Organizer format. It was soooo easy to navigate; you had a screen full of thumbnails, you saw what you wanted and clicked it open....just too easy I guess!!! I was hoping they would go back to it for this version. I know in other forums, this change really rankled a lot of users. They just seem to bounce around trying different things. I wonder who the h*ll they use to test this stuff in-house.
I do like the faster speed, but don't know if I'll go for any more versions after this or not (been here since V.7 when JASC owned it). Big mistake selling if off to Corel. I've just about had it and there is some decent up and coming competition out there nowdays.
I just updated my old Power PC G5 to Leopard 10.5.8 - which Photoshop Softwares can I use on it - I tried a CS3 Extended but it would not install - CS$, CS5?
Computers today are including more and more cores. I am looking to upgrade my machine and I have looked at an AMD quad core processor and their new FX 8 core processor. The computers I have looked at are are the same expect the processor (Quad vs 8 core). From my understanding the more cores doesn't mean more speed unless the software can actually use the power. So can Photoshop (CS6) actually use and benefit by having 8 cores than 4?(For that matter can other Creative Suite products also use that much power?)
I have 2 computers. Let's say I have a LAN and i'm sitting and working with photoshop on my maincomputer, is there a plugin wich lets me grab some CPU power from my other computer?
I have 100mhz on each computer, when I start a filter rendering my other computer help the maincomputer with the rendering so I get 200 mhz total.

I know there is a terrific new feature in PS CC (I have used it before!) but I just can't find any explanation on how to to do it!
The question is how do you remove, from an image, a power line, or a telephone line by simply clicking on both ends of those lines in order to remove them?
