As shown here, I have a Photoshop project that has many layers in it. All of the layers have pretty much the same pictures in it, but with minor differences. I'm trying to find a way to change the color of ALL of the layers without having to go into each individual one.

I want all the layers to have the exact same color different than what is shown.
I created a smart object with linked adjustment layers. I made them into a group. (I also tried this with the layers just being linked, and not grouped.) I want to move the smart object, with its adjustment layers, into another document. Ideally, I'd like to do this using "replace contents." When I do so, the smart object comes into the destination document flattened with its adjustment layers. Is there some way to keep those adjustment layers linked, not flattened, to move with the smart object layer?
The workflow I'm trying to achieve is to remove blemishes, etc. and make my all changes to my layer that I'd want to have made no matter what size and context I use that layer in. That is, make one smart object I can slot into a postcard, a 14 x 11 print, and other products. I don't sharpen until I have moved the layer/smart object into my target document, so that sharpening is appropriate for the final print size. Depending on the size and context, I may want to make changes to the levels/curves/hue saturation type adjustment layers though, so having these flattened when I bring the smart object in to my target document is disappointing.
Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex.
This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.

How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?
All of my image layers have randomly converted to smart object layers and I can no longer resize them in the ps document. Why would it do this and how can I undo it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI found an old thread from 2011 about the same problem and the mod reported it to the devs, but as far as I know no solution has ever been offered.(maybe in cs6? we are still using cs5)For one or two layers it's no problem to do it manually, but with say 40 layers with corresponding linked layers we need a better solution.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf an image is opened from ACR normally, the base layer will be named "Background". If an image is opened as a Smart Object, the base layer will be named as the filename of the image.

If an action is programmed that creates new layers on top of the Smart Object then selects the base layer, the step in the action will be 'Select _MG_ 1234' or whatever the name of the image file is. If you try to run that action on a different image file, an error message will pop up at the step where the base layer is selected indicating that the file is not available because the action is pointing to a specific image file name.Â

How does one go about making an action with smart objects generic so that it will run on any image file?
How to disable border highlighting when selecting a smart object in the layers panel? Designing pixel-to-pixel is cumbersome when the highlight appears and temporarily extends the size of the shape by 1 px.Â

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS6 and noticed that whenever I delete a layer that was a dupe of another layer with links (although not linked specifically to the deleted layer), the undeleted original layers become invisible on the canvas even though they are still visible in the layers pallette. I've been able to recreate this several times. Nothing I do will make the layers visible -I've tried moving them all to the top of the layers palette, making sure their opacity is 100%, making sure there are no layer effects, etc.

I'm running photoshop cs3. I created two different smart objects. Within each of those smart objects, I want to include another smart object. However, when I update the embedded smart object, only the partent SO is updated, the other SO seems to have a different child. here is the setup visually: canvas -> SO1 -> SO3canvas -> SO2 -> SO3 so when I update SO3 from within SO1, only SO1 is updated - SO2 stays the same.

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.

I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.

A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that.However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.

In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
I render 3d object from raster and smart object (extrusion) Each time i do the edge where the extrusion meets the front inflation material is slightly distorted. Should be a smooth line.
View 20 Replies View RelatedIm wondering if anyone out there knows of a way to merge linked layers into a new layer, i.e. i have 4 shapes i want to put a stroke around but i still want all 4 layers seprate...how can i create a new layer copy from the 4 shapes without copying each layer twice?
as of right now i merge the layers drag it into to another document then i undo my merge and drag the merged copy back into my working document...it works but gets kind of annoying...
In webdev it is not unsual that design involves multiple variations like "pages" where mostly header and footer stays the same while its "content" (the page itself) changes. And then simulate a navigation by means of hiding and unhiding each respective "page" folder. Where also the site's menu tranforms as "navigation" evolves.

It is a bit frustrating in order to achieve this to have to create a lot of duplicated menu folders and place'em under every "page" just to represent this selected links. And then if you have to redesign that menu, you have it spreaded throught several folder locations.

I think being able to hide/unhide linked layers at a glance of a click would be nice to have and would allow you a more strealined work while redesigning linked portions.
way to take multiple layers that I have linked together, then select an area on the image, and copy the linked layers that are within this area so that I can paste them somewhere else in the image and each layer will remain intact, so that after copying this selection of layers I can still turn them on and off along with the original layers they were on. basically want to copy a selection of multiple layers while allowing them to stay linked together. I can copy a selection of multiple layers, but they merge together instead of staying on separate layers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Revit 2014, I link in a dwg file. I open a view and using V/G overides for Imported Categories, I turn off the Acad layers I don't want to see. Then the next time my dwg file is updated, the V/G will remain the same and I won't have to reset the layer views. Now I duplicate this view for additional views I need in my project. But I need to apply a different View Template to each view. This destroys the original V/G settings that I had set up for the dwg file.Is there a way to set up my linked file so that it retains the layer on/off settings through each update and lock it. Then I can apply different View Templates to introduce other characteristics without altering the desired layer settings.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been given a set of plans by a client to design a system on. The plans have a lot of layers and information on them that I don't need/want to merge to a base layer. If I click on anything on the plans everything gets select and is layer 0. I originally thought these were just poorly made plans but if I go through the layers in the toolbar and turn them off individually it works.
Its like somehow all the layers have been linked to layer 0 but are actually individual layers .
I have a dwg object library used in representing a connection with FDO, the downside is that I can not find where it keeps the relationship of the linked objects within the MAP.

in cs2, i use smart object lot to replace image i mean i have to make collection of gallery of let's say mp3 albums so i have to put albums covers in my designs but exactly as i wanted in size {no matter whatever size/resolution the source (album cover) are} so smart objects always be the easiest way cos i firstly draw rectangulers in my custum size, and i covert each rectangulers to smart objects and replace every smart objects to place those albums covers. it's easiest way and since cs3 is launched, when i try to replace image of smart objects my replaced image(album cover) wont be as equal as my custum rectanguler size. this is my prob. when i place the images either they are placed bigger size than the size of smart object or smaller than smart object . can is there any process to make as shame size as smart object while placing images to smart object??? in cs2 it's possible but cs3 cs4 can't do such smart object or i'm a missing any new technique to do that? ya we can resize each placed covers to our custom size but it takes hell long time . i need shortcut way. wel in cs2 i been doin things like this using smart object which takes only 2 min to put images in my custom sized rectangular

I have a database (SQL Server) and a drawing (.DWG) with object data fields. For simplicity, lets say the database field names match the object data field names. The key field in the object data is already filled in. I would like to link to the database so the rest of the object data fields are filled from the database. Is this possible? If so, how? The closest I have gotten so far is creating a link template and using mapod2ase, but that creates a separate set of Link Template fields instead of filling in the Object Data fields.Â
I have linked a food service RVT model that has 1000+ pieces of specialty equipment. I've copy/pasted the tags from their file to mine. Now I want to be able to type in a tag number and have revit 'zoom to it'. Or I'd like to be able to make a schedule and use 'Highlight' option - but nothing seems to work because the elements are in a linked file.

When you link an object to another it uses its parent space coordinates or coordinates that are relative to the parent. I really need to know the actual world space coordinates.
I am trying to open a RAW photo in Photoshop CS5 as a Smart Object. I have the photo selected in Bridge. When I go to execute File>Place in Bridge CS5 the menu entry indicates there should be a menu displayed. However, clicking on Place does not bring up a menu.Â
