Photoshop :: Cannot Install 7.0 On Laptop
Apr 8, 2009I've recently rebuilt my laptop (XP SP2, compaq 6910p) and cannot install Photoshop 7.The CD loads to the point where I choose which feature I want (reader or photoshop), then it just stops. It's not the CD, because it installs fine in other machines. I cannot run the install from either my desktop locally or from a CD drive of a working machine.

Apr 28, 2009I am currently running CS3 on a laptop that will soon be replaced. I know that I have to de-activate CS3 on the old laptop, before I can install CS3 on the new laptop. (Note: New laptop is an ASUS G71G-Q2)Once CS3 is installed I will then run the upgrade disk for CS4. What I'm trying to figure out is this: BEFORE I install the CS4 upgrade, do I need to install all the updates/fixes to CS3 to insure "trouble free" operation of CS4? or does installing the CS3 updates play no role in CS4 as they are like two different app's?I would assume that whatever responce I get here about CS3 and CS4 would also apply to Lightroom 1.4 and Lightroom 2.3 regarding updates.

I am an extreme beginner at this, and I am trying out a simple program that opens up Inventor, and when you click a button, it will open up the filename listed in the subroutine. I have attached a .jpg of my code. The program will open Inventor, and open the file, but as soon as the file is finished loading and displays on the screen, it throws the error you see in the .jpg.

Dec 26, 2008I just got Adobe Photoshop CS3. I started installing it and during the installation, the power cord got pulled over and the PC turned off! I turned the damn thing again and found out that the setup was not running!
Here are a few things I noticed:
Photoshop is in the registry but won't uninstall because the setup won't run.
The setup is alright and there is no problem or any file missing.
I tried the setup from my friend's CD but it gives the same error of my setup:

- The installer database is invalid; please re-install the product from the original media.

Oct 21, 2012Don't bother checking the specs on my profile, as this post is about another computer.I just have two questions for now to try and minimize time to correct the problem.
Question 1: Can the VSPro X2 Windows 7 compatibility patch be installed before installing the program?
Question 2: Should compatibility mode be tried before installing a compatibility patch? Or should the compatibility patch be installed first?
Background: I have Service Pack 1 and have already downloaded the VS Pro X2 compatibility patch for Windows 7 (UVS125_Win7_Patch.exe [URL]
I bought VSP X2 a couple of years ago for daughter( living in another location) using Win XP at the time. Now she has Windows 7 notebook, and when she tries to install VSP X2 she gets an error something like this: "application incorrect...xstrace.exe" (I am in process of trying to get exact error message) Device information: Will get if needed.Program version: VSPro X2Patches/updates that have been installed. Daughter has SP1 but not installed yet because she cannot install the main program. As noted above I have downloaded and sent her the Windows 7 compatibility patch, but need to know if she can install it before installing the program.

Mar 14, 2013I have CS2 Premium which I'm running on an older PowerPC Mac (G5 - Dual 2.3 GHz ) running OS 10.4.11. I've had this setup for many many years (registered/activated with Adobe) but suddenly one day I could no longer launch my Photoshop app: when I clicked on the Pshop icon it would start the launch (open) procedure ... and then almost instantly it would quit (in just a few seconds ... before the application even got to the 'title/credit' screen).
I've recently tried uninstalling CS2 (everything except Acrobat) and I ended up doing a manual uninstall of Version Cue. I've been on Macs for 20+ years so figured this would be a pretty straightforward procedure - uninstall -> reinstall and then back to work. Nope.
I'm attempting a fresh installation direct from the original CS2 CDs. In any event, when I try to (re)install CS2 - and after going through the standard screens with Adobe's usage terms agreement and installation hard disk selection - I arrive at the screen where one selects which application(s) to install by checking the various boxes (or alternately, to install the entire suite) but the 'Adobe Photoshop CS2/Adobe ImageReady CS2' line and checkbox are grayed out, so it will not allow me to check them and continue with the Photoshop installation process.

May 1, 2009I have the full version of Creative Suite Premium. I uninstalled it from my computer, reformated the hard drive, and reinstalled Windows XP. I went to reinstall CS and it says my serial key is invalid. I have done this in the past and have never had a problem. I also have 5 other computers in the house and same thing on all of them. Yes it is the full version and I purchased it from Adobe. I called Abobe and have since talked to 4 people and a supervisor. None of them can help me becuase my version is not supported anymore. They all want me to upgrade to CS4 and I really dont get anywhere with anyone. I personally do not need the upgrade, I am ok with just using the version I purchased in the past. For the amount of money these programs cost I am suprised the customer support only works for the past 2 versions. So currently CS4 and CS3 are the only supported versions right now. But when CS5 comes out CS3 will no longer be supported. So support has nothing to do with a time frame, its purely based on new versions that are produced. I asked them that if I upgrade to CS4 and it still says serial key invalid, will I be under warranty to get my money back? They stated it is impossible not to work. They said they will just issue a new serial number and then it will work. However, right now they cannot issue me a new serial number for my old version becuase they dont support it. Now I have read about alot of people saying this same exact thing has happend to them, not just the fact that it doesnt work anymore, but the fact that Adobe in no way helps with this matter unless you pay for an upgrade. My opinion now is Adobe makes the codes invalid on purpose after a certain period of time to force you to upgrade. Maybe this is a little far fetched, but what other explanation can their be? Adobe has confirmed wih me on the phone I am in the system and the serial number I have is a valid number. They do not deny that, but I am pretty much at a dead spot here. I either upgrade or cant use the software that was purchased just a few years ago. What I would like people to post is not only ideas of anything else that can be done to resolve this issue, but your opinion to the invalid serial number idea and if this has ever happend to you and if you were forced to upgrade by Adobe...........

Photoshop :: CS4 Valid Key Showing Invalid
Nov 28, 2008We have a 5 user license for Photoshop CS4 extended, and the first machine I've tested on has returned a red cross indicating an invalid license key when this is entered. However, the same key has subsequently been accepted for 2 other Windows installs on very similar machines.
This is a full install license as it has successfully installed CS4 alongside CS3 on one of the clients.
I have tried uninstalling all Adobe Photoshop related products including Bridge, etc from the problematic machine (and also ensured the HKLMSofwateMicrosoftWindowsCurrenversionUninstall key is cleared of such products) restarted and attempted install again but it's still not accepted.
I'm suspecting this one workstation has something left over in the registry or perhaps a file/folder that is confusing the key check.
