Photoshop :: Images Have Different Colors
Nov 18, 2013
Seem to be having a problem with color, OK the attached image shows a tutorial that I'm learning, as you can see I have dual monitors, both are Dell 22 inch and not calibrated although they are both the same in relation to color profile and there's not a lot of difference when viewing the same image on both screens. The problem is that when I'm viewing a video tutorial on the left screen the colors are completely different from what I see in Photoshop, so when I open the tutorial image supplied the colors are completely different from what I see on the Video tutorial. Even if I change the video to the right screen and Photoshop to the left screen the results are the same. I use VLC player and have tried Windows media player but get the same results.
Graphics Card is nvidia gtx 660 2GB All settings are set to default, Windows color profile and Photoshop are both set to ProPhoto RGB.

Recently, whenever I "Save for Web", the resulting images appear to be tinted (i.e. the colors are not the same as they appear in Photoshop). This applies to both GIFs and JPEGs. However, when I load the saved GIF or JPEG in Photoshop, the colors look just like the original PSD. I have tried saving with "Standard Windows Color", "Uncompensated Color", "Standard Mac Color", and "Document Color Profile", but there does not appear to be any difference between any of the above when the file is viewed outside of Photoshop. I have had Photoshop for some time and I never encountered this issue before. Did I change something in my settings by mistake?

I have been having a problem lately with my images displaying funky when they are uploaded to the web. The images become over saturated. The color space is sRGB so I am not sure what is going on. I never have had this problem till this year. I use lightroom, then export the image and finish editing the image in photoshop. When I export from Lightroom I pick srgb color space.

Somehow my default in ACR changed without me noticing from sRGB to proPhotoRGB and now the images from 2 of my sessions have really wonly colors when saved on my PC... I did some reasearch and I guess I was supposed to convert back to sRGB.
if there is a fix for this that does not involve re-editing a number of images? I am really hoping there is a way to rescue these files!

I was wondering if there was a graceful way to change a thick stroke or outline in PS CS6? Normally I would be lazy and just use the paint bucket tool, but since this is for a higher profile client than I am used to, and it is a for print project (I normally do web projects) the quality is just not good enough. The lines I want to change are the yellow outlines of the yellow hand in the following logo:
Â
Currently, the best approach I can think of is going back into AI and changing the outlines and strokes there, however that is going to be a lot of work because of the way in which different objects overlay each other means a lot of slicing, cutting, and moving things around. Is there an easier way to do this in PS?

The kind of graphics I do are used for a web site and also for printing with a Roland Versacamm wide format printer. My question is for graphics for a web site do you design in RGB colors and when you design for printing are you using CMYK colors.
Or are you using one type of color over the other for both purposes?

I probably overlooked something in the documentation, but I have a hard time saving an image with the exact colors I want:
1- I have created an image with a specific shade of blue in background: #e4eaef.
2- If I use the GIMP color picker, I can see that the background is exactly #e4eaef.
3- I save the image as a png.
4- I open the png in the browser (Firefox), and I measure the color of my background with a system tool (Digital Color Meter), and it has changed to #dde5ea, which is not cool, because it doesn't blend on my web page.
I also used Digital Color Meter to measure the color directly on Gimp, and I have also #dde5ea.

I'm exporting a design for the print shop, and have the following problem:
I have converted all colors to CMYK, and that's fine so far... however, I have imported a few PNGs with alpha channel into the design, and in the PDF output, these create a 'box' around them that seemingly has a flattened RGB version of whatever was behind it + the PNG image.
Same happens with any objects that have drop shadows.

Im having trouble exporting images with High ISO (3200+). Colors aren't coming out the same as the edit version in Lightroom.
Â
Images are coming out brighter after export. Here's an example.
Â
Image was shot in ISO 6400. Other images shot at higher ISO are also coming out brighter.Clearly a huge difference. Its quite disturbing.

I recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine. All licences were validated so no problems there. Now when using paint bucket in Photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.
Â
If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket. But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into Photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.

Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.
Â
I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. See attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.

The colors of pictures is much darker when working in photoshop than when I open it normally. And vice versa, I work on images inside photoshop, and I get the colors I want, but once I save it to bmp or jpg or anything else, all the colors are much lighter.
i'm using photoshop 7.

CDX5: Whatever color I select for fill or outline is now set as the default color for fills and outlines without expressly setting it as such. Until now when I left or right click a color with nothing selected it allowed me to set it as a default fill or outline color for graphics, artistic text, or paragraph text. It does not do that now.
Is this a "feature" that's been added that I somehow enabled? In any event, how do I turn it off?

We are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.Â

Using CS6 on a MacBookPro Is there a way to find the closest matching Pantone spot colors to the cmyk colors I've created in Illustrator? I know it's easy in Photoshop using the color picker, but there must be a way to do this in Illustrator.

You can see in the attached screen cap that colors 1-9 appear as white on my screen and that colors 10-22 are not correct either. This is only occuring in one specific drawing. Is there a preference that I switched somewhere that would make this happen? I have double checked that everything is ByLayer or ByColor that I can think of. If I insert this color chart into other drawings it looks fine. using C3D 2012.Â
I would just restart my drawing, however it is the new company template file that I have invested many hours into and would really like to be able to keep working with it and not start over. Or is there a good way to import and overwrite all the Prospector settings into a blank drawing?

I am in the process of completing my Photographic website and need to make thumbnail and larger sizes for the the site. The site will have approximately 100 images on it. Clicking the thumbnails will connect to the larger images. How do I make both sizes in PS CS? Perhaps their is a generator that you would recommend for Mac 10.2?

A long time ago, when I was using Photoshop Elelments I found a plug-in that made it possible to work with stacks as a unit.Â
Â
If I labeled the top image in the stack that lable was applied to all the images in the stack; then I could sort the the image on top and all the images in the stack would stay together, or if I deleted an image in the stack all the images in the stack were deleted. Without it I have open each stack I lable and apply the lable, so when I sort the stacked images they stay together.

I need to convert color images of vehicles to monotone images. When done correctly they will look like the car has been primed in preparation for painting.
Conversion to gray scale does not do the trick.

I'm making a collage containing 4 images with different resolution. I want each image to have faded edges (to white) and I'm using gradient tool to accomplish this. The problem is that since the images have different resolution the gradient tool gives different result on each image even though I make the same "swipe". Is there another way of accomplishing these faded edges, equally looking and of the same size? The faded edges (to white) will, as you might have understood already, constitute the limit between the four pictures, that is, a white cross.

Hi, I am starting a new business making art prints for artists. I have purchased this huge printer ... just got it. I've been studying photoshop for months using "classroom in a book" and am finding out that I've probably studied the wrong thing.
I have three questions and thanks in advance for any of your expertise.
1. I successfully printed out a two foot by two foot photo I took of my husband with my 8.2 megapixel camera. Then, tried to print out another photo.... used the same photoshop settings, but the print was 6 inches by 6 inches...... I did notice that the second print was only 16. %... I wondered if that caused the difference in size? How do I set that to 100 % if that is what is needed?
2. I want to print out multiple small prints using this big paper and printer... I want to tile these various prints (all different) along the top making rows... I want them to be all different. I called Epson support and they said I could do that in photoshop. Do I use the browser?
3. I have a wide format scanner. It does up to 11 x 17 inches. If I have something larger to scan, let's say, I scan the bottom of the image and then scan the top of the image, how do I put them together?

I am having a problem with Photoshop 8 not displaying the correct colors. I can see the correct colors when I go to Save for Web or when I paste saved files into another program like Illustrator.
Has anyone got any idea how to fix or analyze this?

I'm working on a design for a web. It's quite colorful with bright colors. In Photoshop it looks exactly the way I want it to look, but when I export it as JPG, PNG or even BMP then the colors seem to be a bit lesser bright... they don't look that lively anymore.
What could be the problem? I understand that PNG and JPG may have some restrictions, but at least BMP should be able to reflect every pixel the way it is shown in Photoshop, isn't it?

My colors inside Photoshop are off. I'm using CS and when I create an image and select save for web, the colors that the preview shows are quite a bit lighter than the ones that am using inside the application.
It does this for all images. I edit them in photoshop, save them in any format, and then open them outside of photoshop and they are brighter.

Why are my pictures in PhotoShop (CS2) different from the same pictures viewed through an image viewer.
Looks like the saturation is different. I've tried proofing to the profile of my monitor (my specific monitor), windows, RGB, and all the options under 'device to simulate' in the Custom Box in the View Menu.
I have a pictures of can't get 'manage attachments' to open...

When I open a picture in Photoshop CS3 or Camera RAW for editing and then save that picture, and then open the saved picture in any program other than Photoshop, the colors and tints and saturation are very different. I am pretty sure this has to do with my color profile in Photoshop, but I've checked many online sources and my color settings seem to match up more or less with what's recommended. My camera is set to sRGB and Photoshop is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, and this is happening both with JPEGs and RAWs, from two different Canon cameras. Pictures look more natural when viewed in Photoshop than in other programs (I think), even before any editing...how could this be? The weird things is, when I go to Edit > Assign Profile and then select "Lighthouse (D65 G2.2 A34.29)" from the drop-down menu, the image in Photoshop now looks exactly like it does when I open the same image in an image viewing program. What does this mean? Also, when viewing my photos in Bridge CS3, the colors look like they do in Photoshop until I zoom in 100% and the photo finishes loading the actual pixels, at which point the colors dramatically change. How can I edit pictures in Photoshop and Camera RAW when what I'm editing is not what's actually seen?

I am scanning watercolors and trying to get the printed colors mathing throughout the system. Does anyone have any advice on this as it's very frustrating to keep blindly changing the parameters and profiles hoping . . ?
I have laptop screen and inkjet printer with PSE4(preferred) & GIMP and see that each component from scanner to paper is crucial.
