View 7 RepliesWhy when I use green for foreground color and go to Fill and use the option of Foreground color the selection is filled with black? Also why when I open a file with a green square, it also turns to black? And since I am asking questions, how do I get back the ability to get content and search within photoshop, instead of always being directed to Adobe online? I am using CS5.

View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I encountered a weird problem with Lightroom. When I switch from Library to Develop to edit photos, immediately, the photo changes. I get strange blue highlights appearing in an area that is largely black, and red, where there is white. If I do a command Z (on a Mac), it just changes back to Library mode.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to switch over to a gamma/linear color space workflow. 3dsmax and multiple blogs state that displacement, normal bumps, and bump maps should be noted in 3dsmax as gamma 1.0. All other maps (diffuse maps, etc) should be noted as gamma 2.2 (or whatever gamma you created them in) so 3dsmax can properly convert them to gamma 1.0 during its math calculations.
This is all fine. It makes sense that if you make a color bitmap in Photoshop, what you see on screen is being created/tweaked at gamma 2.2 and needs to be converted in 3dsmax (corrected down to gamma 1.0). 3dsmax notes that Mudbox and certain other software produce normal and displacement maps already in gamma 1.0 so these do not need to be corrected. Similarly, black and white bitmaps used for bump and displacement also should be noted as 1.0, not 2.2 (not adjusted down to 1.0).
Questions:
1) If I create a normal bump map in Photoshop (plugin), is that going to be gamma 1.0 or 2.2?
1b) Does it depend on which format I save it in? For example, jpgs default to gamma 2.2 (no gamma listed), while targas can note inside the file which gamma they use.
1c) If, in Photoshop, I simply open a normal map created in Mudbox (made and saved at gamma 1.0 automatically), resize it in Photoshop, and resave it as a jpg, have I inadvertently converted it to a gamma 2.2 image?
2) If I make a grayscale bump/displacement bitmap in Photoshop, it does not need to be adjusted from gamma 2.2 (but is "already" gamma 1.0). Why then would I note that same grayscale bitmap, created in Photoshop, as gamma 2.2 if it's used in any other slot (reflection, roughness, cutout, glossiness, etc)? By using Photoshop, aren't I looking at gamma 2.2 adjusted grayscale values on the screen when I create the grayscale image?
2b) Conversely, are displacement/ normal/ bump maps made in Mudbox only gamma 1.0 if they are saved in a non-jpg format?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two photos, shooted probably the same day, by the same photograph in the same place !But the pose is a bit different. first one is in high resolution and in black & white nuance. second one is a small resolution and in full colors.
I wish re-color the black&white photo using exactly the same nuance from the colored one.
can i "copy" all the colors from the color-one to the b&w one ?
i hope there is a quick way to do that with adobe photoshop or with a commercial plugin. Something like : i load the first one (color), i load the second one (b&n), and i press Ok and magic appears !

Is there an easy way to do color tints on a photo in PhotoPAINT? And by that I don't mean just correcting the tint, I mean converting a regular photo into one that has a single color tint (e.g., yellow, red, etc.). I've tried graying it out and then adding a transparent color layer over it, but I'm not getting the result I'm looking for.
Also, while I'm at it, are there any (current) books out that cover PhotoPAINT in depth? I know that the official DRAW book has a section on it, but it's pretty basic.
I'm not sure if i can explain this properly, but I'll give it a go;

Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?

I had hired a grahic designer who has since flaked out on me leaving me hanging high and dry. here is my problem- I have a small (hobby mainly) mineral makeup "company" that I am putting online for my small customers, I had my photographer take the "main" foundation picture and then I was able to have her then change that same photo with my 10 different shades of foundation color- essentially its the same photo except the color/shades are different to correspond with my makeup line.
however, I need 5 more done. I have a jpg of the colors from the manufacturer and of course my original foundation photograph
